Im looking for a way to remove adw and add adw ex to CM7 instead. Would this be done in ADB or can i do it by editing the zip instead.
You can edit the zip. Use WinRar and you should be fine. I did it with Launcher Pro and Launcher
yea you can do edit the zip, and flash it.. but if you already flash the rom, you can adb remove it

Hello, I would like to replace some app (in the 'app') in the zip of my cyano 213 nightly, just downloaded.
I would like to replace ADWLauncher.apk with the version EX or with Go Launcher EX, RomManager.apk with the premium version and then recompress.
I wanted to know if I can, if I keep the same name that is already in the rom or can change, if I can put other apps that are not included, such as Titanium or MyBackup ..

The DSIXDA kitchen is your freind. Get that and play about with it. And get used to it whilst doing that.
You can also if you have Linux running on your computer, use "Ark" to open the file without unzipping it and then remove the apps you don't want and then add your own apk's.
I do this on every nightly I upgrade,my method is effective. Download rom.zip to PC. Extract files and go into system, apps. Delete the apks you don't want and copy the ones you do into the folder. Then I rezip the extracted files back into the exact same name making sure not to include original zip folder and put on sdcard and flash as normal. Regards Slymobi.

quick question:
I downloaded an icon pack which is a zip folder I want to use it with out installing one icon at a time in ADW icon edit settings. My question is can i unpack this folder with Root explorer and move it to the folder where the icons are store for ADW so the I can use them to theme the entire thing all at once.

We all have a favorite launcher to use on our Android device. Apex has been my favorite launche, and I think many Android user prefer Apex Launcher than any other.
If you’re on a custom ROM and want to set a different launcher as your system’s default and only launcher, then all you need to do is push the APK to /system/app.
REQUIERMENTS:
I)ROOT ACCESS
2)ES EXPLORER
3)APEX APK FILE
Let’s try making Apex as a default launcher.
1)First you need to have a file manager that has root permissions like ES File Explorer.AFTER ISTALLING IT GOTO SETTINGS
TICK THESE OPTIONS
i)UP TO ROOT
ii)ROOT EXPLORER
iii)MOUNT FILE SYSTEM and BACK UP SYSTEM APP
2)open your file manager and copy the APEX APK file that you’ve just downloaded from official site, then go to /system/app AND PASTE IT THEIR and if have ANY OTHER LANUCHER LIKE NOVA,ADW ETC U CAN DELETE THEM IN THAT /system/app
3)THEN RESTART UR PHONE U WILL HAVE APEX LANCHER AS DEFAULT...!!!
IF U HAVE ANY PROBLEMS DO POST ...
(IMPORTANT :- 1)COPY THE FILES WHICH UR DELETING BECAUSE IF U WANT TO USE THEM AGAIN JUST PUT THEM IN /system/app AND RESTART)
Or just install Apex Launcher, click the home button, tick "default action" and choose Apex Launcher...
You forgot this: you need to set permissions to rw-r--r--. Otherwise it won't work.

Life is so easy with shortcuts
I wanted to try a custom TW launcher from this site,so I downloaded and extracted it.For safety reasons I made a backup of th inse original apk and I installed zeam launcher from play store.I deleted the original TW apk and the odex file.I the copied the file and when I tried to paste it guess what? "Insuficient space".I copied the original file back,I fixed the permissions to rw-r-r,I restarted the phone,but now if I press the home key it automatically goes to the zeam lau launcher's home screen,I installed another launcher but when I press the home button the original launcher is not listed there.How can I make it work again?

I have a problem with a Chinese tablet
this tablet is not bad as hardware but an awful launcher. They started with the simplest solutions, or change the launcher with others on the market. but every time you restart the tablet returns the old one.
with root explorer I entered the launcher between system app and tried to give the other as the default launcher. no way. each reboot resets.
I tried to move away the default launcher (hklauncher.apk) so that he could not use it in startup and so on every reboot ask me which launcher to start and once selected, then takes it and it works. but decidedly uncomfortable that every time you have to choose the launcher.
Now the way 2:
or I find which file system change to start an alternative launcher rather than hklauncher.apk. but I have no idea what file to edit (I found in the frameworks folder khmanager.jar and unzipping files inside there are a lot of files for each type of setting but have not found nor if there is one that defines the launcher.
change the apk of the alternative launcher: if I change the package name from blablabla.apk in hklauncher.apk and I insert it in the app system probabily it will start by default. but with apk tool you can not unzip the apk so that it is usable.
anyone have any idea what files I have to modify to change the system launcher?
or is there any idea how to change the package name of the alternative launcher?
