I am new to this stuff so any help would be GREATLY appreciated.
I have a rooted EVO. Just tried flashing to leaked Gingerbread ROM through ROM Manager. Phone is now stuck on the white "HTC EVO 4G" boot-up screen for over an hour with no change.
Please HELP!
Thanks.
Remove battery and turn on phone into the bootloader screen by holding down the power button and volume down button. Go into recovery and flash one of your backups after you have wiped your data.

Thanks for the help.
I would suggest to do a factory reset/ data wipe along with the cache everytime you flash different roms.. I've had that issue before and that usually fixed it. simple suggestion, i'm not sure if that's what fixed the issue entirely but it has always worked for me

Why do people use ROM Manager to flash anything?? I constantly see people having issues after flashing with ROM Manager.

Hello Pals,
Recently I've been finding that when rebooting, my EVO hangs at the white boot screen. The only fix I've found for it is to pull the battery, reboot into recovery, wipe cache, then restart. Anyone have an idea of what I cocked up?
Yes, I wipe EVERYTHING upon installing any rom. I've tried Fresh, Cyanogen, Mik, Myn's rom. All of them do this, so obviously there is something wrong with the phone. I think I boogered it up with all the ROM flashing.

Do you keep flashing the same kernel or do you just use the kernel that comes with whatever ROM?

I've done both, but now using the kernel that comes preinstalled with whatever ROM i'm using. I haven't had this issue at all since yesterday. It's a launch day HW#2 EVO if it helps.

When you wipe "everything" what does it mean you actually wipe?
If it doesn't include [system/boot] use this: Calkulin's Format all

Hmm...
Maybe the next step would be to wipe the SD card and then wipe the phone entirely and then reflash your ROM and kernel.
There are files on the SD card that could cause issues [in android secure and sdext]

well, after a couple days of no issues the problem is back. i went ahead and flashed the format all zip, then cm again, turned off the phone while at work, and boom. stuck on the white evo screen.
I have this same issue. The only way I can get it passed the white htc EVO 4G screen is to pull the battery. It's so annoying. Were you able to resolve this?
Okay, so after rooting my G2 I decided to flash this rom.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1012763
Now after I used Rom Manager, I checked the back up etc.
After it backuped it installed the new Rom, at the moment I am at the HTC screen and it keeps rebooting not sure what it's doing exactly.
Shows HTC screen, after a few mins, it turns black plays the HTC sound and shows the HTC splash page again.
What to do?
Boot into recovery and wipe cache/data.

And if that doesent work try to flash the rom again.
I ran the adb command to go into recovery, then restored it from a back up I made.
Going to try another ROM, thanks guys!
Does anyone have MSN?
I flashed cyanogen, but it has the same issue, the splash screen comes up then dissapers and the cynaogen screen comes back again.
What to do? Is there something wrong with my phone?
You didn't have to restore your backup.
If you had wiped the /cache and /data partitions, everything would have been fine. There is nothing wrong with with your phone.

This may be a ROM manager that produce this boot loops, Skip rommanger . Boot into recovery -power-wolume down . Navigate to recovery . Chose wipe data/ factory reset. Then wipe cache and /data partitions, flash cm7 and gapps.
First off let your phone sit for 20 minutes after installing a new rom. The first boot takes a good long time. If after 20 min it doesnt start then come post about it. Make sure you post exactly what screen comes up when it reboots ect.

Cleared the data and cache all is fine now, thanks!
Have a side question about overclocking, how do I do it and what's the recommended amount?
Depending on the ROM's install a kernel
You have a lot of options. It's not necessary but if you still want to first install the app 'setcpu' or 'cputuner' and then download a kernel and flash it the same way that you flashed the ROM's. Best of luck!
Which rom did you end up flashing? A lot of them come overclocked. As the above person posted you will need one of those apps anyway.
Sent from my HTC Vision using XDA App
I used the one on the main post, seems that SetCPU is not free.
Downloading CPUTuner..
With only reading the heading of that rom i would assume there is no OC built in as it is untouched. You will need to flash a kernel for sure to OC. I cant recomend any for that rom as i have never used it.

If you're still using the ROM in your OP, I don't think there are over-clockable Sense Gingerbread kernels yet.
Hello forum,
I recently switched from CM7 because I was having some issue with random resets and FCing with Maps that slow down and shut off my phone. I flashed to the New Fresh ROM to try it out. That worked fine, but I missed the pull down notification bar. I tried Salvage-Zen but got stuck in a boot-loop and then I tried Salvage. I got past the boot screen but when the Android pops up even though I click I can't go any further. Does anybody know of a possible solution?
Few suggestions: Are you wiping properly, do you have the latest recovery (amon ra or clockwork), are you flashing gapps, did you update to all the latest radios/wimax/prl?
Why don't you try to flash decks aosp rom!

do you do a clean wipe before flashing roms or are you just installing one on top of the other. I would suggest looking for Caulkins format all zip and run it prior to flashing a rom
Same problem on friends phone just use amon RA wipe everything twice and flash and be patient with the white evo 4 g screen it may take a while there.

I'm wiping completely using both Clockwork and Amon but its still a no go and I flash falls when using aosp. I'll try that Rom and report the results.

Hi all,
I decided to remove Cyanogen today from my Inc2(obv). I loaded up the recovery I flashed with Clockwork last week. When my phone rebooted it got stuck at the HTC splash screen. Now all it does is loop the splash screen over and over again. Does anyone have an idea as to what i could do?
Did you wipe data and caches before flashing?
Sent from my Incredible 2 using xda premium
yes I did. This wasnt the first phone that I have rooted, so I am confused as to why it is doing this. On my old Droid by doing what I did above, I was able to remove cyanogen easily.
Did you make a nandroid backup first,if you did that just go to recovery and then go to backup and restore and select restore and just choose your backup, and then restart.

Do the following in recovery:
Factory reset
Wipe data
Wipe dalvik
Format all partitions except sdcard.
Enjoy aosp
I'm sure you are coming from a sense rom and there is residue left on your system partition. Formatting all partitions will help here.

Take out your battery, put it back in, restart. If they still don't work, flash a different kernel.

Problem is all the 4 buttons didn't work no LED light and no function.

None of the unlock apps from the market work on the T-mobile/Telus version of the sgs2, so maybe that might be the problem? Try uninstalling it..
Or try wiping dalvik cache?
If that doesn't work, backup the apps and stuff using titanium backup and flash the rom/kernal again (factory wipe, wipe dalvik cache and other cache)
Yeah try uninstalling that app then reboot into recovery and clear your dalvik cache.

Alright well then you're going to have to do a full wipe and re flash the ROM.
Not positive that will work, but it's your only option at this point. If that doesn't work, it might be a hardware problem.
EDIT: I guess you could try clearing both caches and flashing the same ROM without a full wipe.

Put the ROM on the root of your external sd card, reboot into recovery, go to backup/restore and do a backup, wipe data, clear cache, go to advanced and clear dalvik, go to install zip from sd, choose zip from sd, then click on the ROM .zip file.
Let me know if you need help.

Damn, definitely call Tmobile and get a replacement sent out. Just make sure to return your phone to stock before sending it back. Tell them you have already done a factory reset to save yourself some time.

Hi ken,
I did the exact same thing that you did. I was trying to unlock my Tmobile Galaxy S2 with that very same app and after that ,,,boom,,, the soft buttons all stopped working... no lights at all...I'm only able to use the touchscreen but not the buttons. I've researched a lot and a lot of people have suggested flashing different kernels and I've done that too but haven't been able to fix it even till today. Please let me know if you've figured it out. Thanks.

do the buttons work when you are in recovery?? If they work there then, it is a ROM issue, if they don't work in recovery, time to warranty exchange ...
