julian schapman has just released touchxplorer there are some limits
it seems to only work on htc devices. Non htc devices will have to wait a bit...
The device is only meant for chevron unlocked/developer unlocked devices that are HTC
Have fun with it

As a matter of fact, tried it on Samsung Omnia 7 and it didn't work. Very promising

maybe you should read the post before commenting...theres a link and a set of instructions.
Anyhow, already had it loaded on my phone since earlier. Been monitoring his site. It works as advertised. Can't wait till we get some more functionality =D

One wish I have:
In the folder "Windows", if I mark one file, open this and go back,
its a litle bit sad, that open after from the begining "Windows", and begin not at the last opening.
You have after to scroll a long way down, till you are at the last file you see.
But its only a detail. ;-)

I actually had this installed for the past week on my HD7 which is what I am typing this post on but just 10 minutes ago a message came up and stated that Touchxplorer has be revoked by Microsoft and it would not let me do anything TILL I uninstalled it. Anyone else getting this problem? Looks like I will have to reinstall it somehow.

Zune likes to relock the device which causes that error... you just need to unlock it again to get it working.... very fun game of unlocking all the time...

There's one bug: sometimes after backing to the previous folder the list displays each item twice. Except that, the app works perfectly.

Just got an error. This app has been revoked by m$hit please uninstall. Should i reinstall it and will it work?

You don't. Use Chevron WP7 Ringtone Installer.

Hi I also really tried but I can not find how to install this on my HD7
Can you or somebody please explain how ?

Did any one had success in copying files from WP7 to PC or the other way around?
I used the zune storage hack and copied some word documents on to the device, in the same folder I have put 2 ringtones I know work using ringtone installer from chevron, some photos and other files.
Sadly I can not find them anywhere on the device via Touchxplorer?
Any ideas?
The same the other way around. Found all the folders holding my music/videos (albait not with original file names) and tried copying other files in there including wp7 ringtones. I can see all items that were there when zune added them but none of the one's I copied.
Any solution?

HTC Compass app - anybody explored it?

HTC recently released a new app (search for "HTC Compass" on any HTC phone's marketplace) that utilizes the magnetic compass hardware in the phone. Since there's no official managed API for it yet, this probably is using a COM dll. Has anybody tried picking the app apart to make the compass API available to homebrew devs? I've got a couple other projects right now, but I think this would be a good thing to try when somebody has the time.

I have an HTC hd7 and I cannot find this app... Where exactly do I look to find it?

me neither on my mozart , can you post link ?

I found this on my Arrive, and when I went to show my girlfriend on her HD7 it was nowhere to be found in the marketplace... I'm not sure if it has to do with the NoDo update or a carrier decision (If that's possible?). The first time I used it, it told me to wave the phone around in the air in a figure 8 pattern while remaining at least 8 feet away from magnetic interference, and then it popped up. It doesn't work super well, and isn't very smooth, but it is using the magnetic compass... A step in the right direction I suppose.

Search marketplace for 'compass' because it is not listed under HTC apps yet

It may not be available everywhere, but on a HTC HD7, T-Mobile USA, steps to get the app were as follows:
Open Marketplace
Hit the hardware Search button
Type "htc compass" (without quotes)
Hit the -> button
Select the only app in the results
Install it.
No "HTC Marketplace" or Zune links required. This is a standard, un-modified HD7.

well the best thing you could do it
use the send button in th marketplace to send yourself an email with the zunelink
i was able to download usa only apps by hitting the zune link
worth a try...

Thanks for posting this, didn't realise HTC had released a new app! Found it by searching for HTC in the Marketplace on my HD7 (pre NoDo)
It seems to work well. Wish there was an option to disable the map underneath altogether, and therefore maybe get slightly smoother animation of the compass itself.
Speaking of, when are MS supposed to officially open this piece of API to developers? Seems like it wouldn't be that difficult? Or are the different manufacturers all using different tech in their handsets?

Works on HTC Arrive. Agree one what has been said about choppyness - I don't think it has anything to do with the map beneath, I think it is just how it was coded.

Works on HD2 with WP7

Works on the Trophy, albeit I'm not sure how well it's working... it only seems within 20-30% accuracy.
Does anyone know how you can get the "compass only" view on the screen, as in the screenshots?

The Compass app doesn't work after the NoDo update.

FWIW:
Attempted to DL gthe HTC Compass App from Marketplace using WebWalk's link, but their was no option to buy or install...
I DL'ed the XAP using sutt's link and sideloaded it ontomy post NODO chevron unlocked Samsung Focus...
Shockingly... it didn't work... a popup advised me,
"Sorry, this application only works on HTC phones. If you would like to use this application, please visit htc.com to find the HTC phone that's right for you."
I didn't expect it to work, but thought I'd give it a try...

Hi, we don't have any Windows Phone 7 devices in house, so we're having trouble debugging/testing, any one interested in trying this out and letting us know if it works or not, and if not, which phone you are using?

Thanks man.. can you just confirm, does geekaphone.com give you a server-not-found? That one I can't figure out.. if it gave you a white screen then I might think its a compatibility issue with our site and WP7..

Yeah can't get to that site at all on my Trophy
PM me and I'll give my email details if you want to do further testing.

On HTC Surround, geekaphone gives a completely blank page. The jquery pages load, but clicking any of the links loads the text initially, then most of the text disappears, leaving only a slim vertical strip visible on the left-hand side of the screen.

Same here in regards to jQuery.
I also get the page cannot be found issue with the wp7 emulator on geekaphone.com
Maybe try the mango rom? There a few functional "gaps" with WP7 at the moment.

Works fine on my HD7 I can view the site and take the test. I got 300 points

Samsung focus on att USA, worked fine for me.
In "desktop" mode, it identified att, but didn't recognize att as a wireless carrier and didn't identify the phone at all.
In "mobile" mode, it recognized att as my wireles carrier, but identified my phone as a samsung Omnia 7

I tried this on my HTC Arrive. It worked almost perfectly, but it called it a 'Generic Windows Mobile' with WIFI. Then I tried with no WIFI, but then it asked me what phone I had. I chose the Arrive, and then it showed the speeds. Great work, keep it up!

now available in marketplace tried it on my htc hd7 running mango 7720 but it says phone is not supported . confirmed working on HTC shipped roms .

Maybe that's the answer, I couldn't seem to find some HTC apps such as Connection Media (or whatever it's called) and Attentive Phone. I checked on WMPowerUser and I got redirected from links to the app in Marketplace and I could download it. Got it in my HTC HD7 (originally T9295, TMOUS but changed to T9292 when switching to DFT ROMs) working, but I don't know how to use it xD

Its working on my HTC Trophy with latest shipped Mango update.

In Poland that app is not supported and not it in marketplace.

On the US trophy, it does not work on 7720.68 upgraded from Zune, so it must be the firmware that is updated with the Leaked Shipped roms....
Edit: Confirmed this, I can quote someone saying that it worked on their Vzw HTC Trophy with the "leaked Roms". I upgraded my phone via Zune to 7720.68 and installed the app, it will run but, it will say "your phone is not compatable with this application" and just have a "OK" to exit.
No, it will not run under NoDO or any other version of WP7

I keep getting "unable to connect the media server"

I was on the Mango RTM and after the HTC firmware update yesterday this app worked fine. I rolled back to NoDo and upgraded to Mango the 'official' Zune way and now I can't redownload this.
"This application is not available for your device".
Any ideas? My handset is an HTC 7 Pro.

HD7: I was on leaked Mango RTM and yesterday I got the official HTC Update. Now Connected Media works without warning (sideloaded).
But I can't get Attentive Phone and Sound Enhancer from the marketplace anymore. Only with sideloading.
EDIT: With help of the Mini-Marketplace inside HTC Hub I found Attentive Phone and installed it. But not Sound Enhancer. It is there, but i can't install it because my phone software is not up to date!??

I have HTC trophy in Netherlands, I have pushed the Mango update today (was on NoDo) using the trick on the web, now The app does not want to install stating my device is not supported. and when I sideload it refuses to install. I have removed that interop line and now isntalled the app it starts but there is an overlay telling me the device is not supported... GRRRR

You can also change "in" to "uk" in the url if you prefer. Still no mac version though

I thought I read somewhere about an iminent htc wireless sync manager.
Am I missing something here?.....................or perhaps I dreampt it!

Ok, downloaded and used, but It dosen't seem to work that well.
I'm only asking it to sync music, so I "add" the particular music folder, and then I import a few playlists from Itunes, however this seems to cause duplicate entries on the phone, and the phone won't show the playlists
So I've had to remove the playlists, empty music from phone, re-sync just with the folder!

I think it works for me.

Works for me also. It is sooooo much nicer to use than the previous HTC Sync program!

whenever i try to install it it starts as usual... but when the actual installation starts (moving of files and what not) the blue bar just starts flashing like crazy and i have 100 or so instances of the exe in the task manager : /

Nightmare bit of software.
Firstly, it installs your mp3 collection in a different location to the old HTC Sync software. As a result you end up with two copies...the phone starts becoming hot indexing in a loop. I then spent hours trying to untangle the phone, removing the duplicates, removing the thumbnails, and forcing a re-index of the media database.
Then I found that you cannot select single movies, but only a folder with the auto-sync. But if you right click on a movie, you can send it to the phone...but the phone can never see it!
Wish I hadn't started with this

I am able to add my Music folder to the HTC Sync Manager Library but when I select to import the iTunes library or playlists, nothing shows up.
Did anyone else have this issue?

Mac version up yet? Can't check as I'm at work..
