[Q] - Droid Incredible Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

How can I turn off all of the cellular radios on a droid incredible? I don't want it to look for any cell signal at all while still being able to use bluetooth and wifi.

I think if you turn on airplane mode and then enable WiFi after it will work as you want

Ok good. I was under the impression that airplane mode meant no wifi too.

App to toggle wifi/bluetooth with airplane mode

need to be able to use my bluetooth in low to no cell signal area. any ideas?

I'd like to know this also. But it'll need more then a app. More like a mod.

I'm not picky. Either would be cool.

Bluetooth and Wifi use same frequency. A MOD that allows Wifi and/or bluetooth to be turned ON in Airplane mode would be wicked. Then I could use the Wifi on the plane and also stream my music to my headset!
wifi DOES work in airplane mode. Only BT does not.

Which is silly, IMHO... same frequency as WiFi but shorter range, and in a mobile device it's used for streaming audio...

Cellular radio off, but BT on?

Is there any wall to turn the cell radio off, but leave the bluetooth radio on? I have bluetooth headphones that I want to use at the gym, but there is almost zero cell signal there, so I want to turn the cell radio off so it does not kill my battery.
Any way to do it?

Try turning on airplane mode then turning Bluetooth on. It works for wifi, so maybe Bluetooth as well

Thanks. I had tried that while I was at the gym, but it did not work.
Mine seemed to work fine

I tried that, didn't work either. Don't know if there's a way to do it. You may have to just shut data off while at the gym.
yeah - shutting data off will probably help some, but the cell radio will still be boosting output looking for a signal and killing the battery.

Anyone figure this out for TW roms? I use the People's rom and would love this feature!
(i.e. being able to turn on airplane mode and then still be able to enable bt).

[Q] sprint wiFi update??

I got a email or text the other day from Sprint saying that i could get a app or something to let me run my wiFi and it not eat my batt fast???? I lost the link, any help? thanks!
I got the same one:
"SprintFreeMsg: Enable the Wi-Fi on your phone and improve your battery life by up to 50%. Visit http://sprint.us/wifi to learn how."
No app, just use WiFi instead of 3G. Yes, it uses a lot less battery (assuming you are connected, being disconnected and scanning constantly uses a lot more battery), and it lightens the load on their network.

yeah but it disconnects you from WiFi when you make a call i watch the screen as im on wifi it automatically disables it and 3g doesnt have to be connected to make a call.

My wifi doesn't disconnect when I'm on a call... I constantly use wifi on my phone while talking... it doesn't disconnect wifi

Yeah. Otherwise I could not use internet while on a call. This only works on wifi or 4G.

I am overseas using s3 with uvalh3 Rom.
I have airplane mode on and connected to WiFi. But my WiFi calling is not coming in. What should I do?

Correct me if im wrong but doesn't airplane mode essentially turn off all radios?
Just turn off your data connection if thats what you are worried about.

So what are you saying is if I have data off and cell tower and WiFi on. And don't pickup the calls unless I m on WiFi. I won't get charged for roaming?
Sent from my SGH-T999
as long as your wifi is on, and you have the iconc in left top corner all calls are routed thrue wifi, just to be safe turn the data off

[Q] disable cellular radio

I'm going to be in a GSM country for a while, and I'm bringing my SIII cuz it's a capable little tablet computer. I wish to disable the cellular radio completely because there aren't going to be any CDMA signals around and it'll kill the battery looking at full power (I'd think).
Is there a way to disable cellular while leaving the wifi antenna up? I imagined it'd be simple, but I'm finding it hard to even search for. Usually people just want to disable the mobile data and leave voice up for sms or whatever.

I would assume he still wants to connect to Wifi.
I haven't heard of any Mods or settings that completely turn off the radio (data and phone/text). I'll keep my eyes open, though.
Turn on Airplane Mode which shuts off everything, then turn on the Wifi by itself. Used it in Europe that way without a problem.

Ah, I didn't know this worked. Back on my old Evo, once airplane mode was on, Wifi couldn't be turned on. It looks like they've improved the airplane mode functionality in the last 2-3 years.
