So I'm in a situation where I'm currently on [ROM]VIPERrom [SynErgY] EXT4-RFS Dual EB13 5.0[OC/UV/VooDoo Sound/NO CIQ]. For some reason my phone will charge and i can access my SD Card but when i put my phone in download mode, Odin will not recognize my phone (I have attempted Odin on 3 different computers). I want to get an advance exchange from sprint but i cannot give them the phone rooted lol. Any ideas? Is there a such thing as a flash-able Odin zip (EB13/EXT4 Recovery)?
Try this dude. Its flashable

My friend rooted his phone the other day and tried to use a battery mod app without clockwork recovery installed, and my computer is not recognizing his phone. I have tried reinstalling the Samsung drivers. I also have a vibrant and it connects fine to computer. Please any help appreciated.

If he rooted his phone then he has Clockwork installed, unless you mean with Clockwork Mod 3 and he booted into it and it converted to EXT4 without a compatible ROM. Power down the phone and power back on by holding camera, volume down and power buttons to get into clockwork. If he has CWM 2.x or 3.x you can pull the sd card and put it into a card reader and copy files from this thread on it depending which CWM he has and flash it:

Then he never successfully rooted. Try different USB ports for his phone. Make sure USB debugging is checked in settings>applications>development. Then you can Odin following this thread:

I think the Odin file link is dead so here it is:
the phone loops after the splash screen and won't let me adjust anything on it. I also have tried Odin and the phone isn't being recognized.

Are you in download mode? Power on while holding the 1 key. Try new drivers, new cable, different ports. Eventually Odin will see it.
Do you BONSAI?
I'm going to try swapping cables only thing I haven't tried. I've already downloaded the drivers and my vibrant connects fine the epic just wont. I have the eb13 md5, the pit. Its frustrating to have the usb not being recognized as the hardest part of unbricking this phone.
U don't need the pit file. Just the tar file.

I believe he got the EB13 prerooted with CWM3 that includes the EB13-EXT4.PIT
Isn't that required for the file structure?
so i odined the stock kernel onto my et4g and everything went fine until it rebooted my launcher is nonexistent the home menu and search buttons dont work when the phone first started up it said set up wizard force closed so anyone know what i should do at this point im currently dl the cwm recovery back up.
just tried to boot into odin mode and it said E:Update logfile dose not exist
From what I understand, unless you've wiped out your radios you should be okay. I had a similar thing happen to me, and corrected it in this manner.
You'll need a CWM recovery tar (I use Chris41g's LoStKernel)
An SD card
A flashable ROM (I use AbsolutZeroGI's EG30-Stock-OdexV2.zip)
Put the ROM on the SD card, with the phone unplugged pull the battery, replace and boot into Odin mode (volume down and power, then volume up at first screen).
Open Odin, select PDA then the tar file, make sure auto reboot is checked and run it.
Once the phone reboots pull the battery and go into recovery (volume up and power) wipe everything then flash the ROM. When it reboots you should be ok.
Conversely, you could look for crawrj's stock Odin Rom with recovery, busy box, and SU, (which you would also run from PDA), but the steps above are what I used.
i cant boot into odin mode :/
Oh, sorry about that, do you know anyone with a USB jig, I don't know for sure, but that may help determine if it is a hardware problem?
No i dont im gonna order one. Well i have it kind of working. I figured out how to get my emails and got the amazon app store and installed a launcher

I flashed root kernel in Odin under "Phone" option effectively erasing the radio...Like an idiot! Does anyone know where to find the stock Radio/Modem flashable through Odin?
Guys I have done it now. . I was rooting and ROMing my wifes phone without her knowledge, then had a brilliant Idea to update CWM to latest version. Tried Odin and discovered USB is broken, Tried to take it back to Sprint and they discovered ROOT and rejected me until I return it to stock. when I trie to load into recovery I got the image below, diligently I rebooted, reflashed. To know avail. What is a loving husband supposed to do?
I am running the latest ACS EPIC 4G ROM, nothing wrong with the ROM still works.
Problem:
1. USB does not work
2. Clockwork Mod Lost/overwritten
3. Need to return to stock to return to Sprint
4. wife is unaware of Mods, except to realize that phone is faster.
USB Not working & LOST Clockwork Mod Recovery
These are the images that I am getting when I try to get into recovery.

That isnt Clockwork. That is stock recovery. Flash CWM with odin or just odin to stock.
Edit: just read about USB. Hmmm. This is a hard one. Try using rom manager again and choose flash CWM.

Every time I go into recovery mode I get the system recovery. It doesn't let me flash anything. I also tried to install CWM5. I followed all the guides I've come across for Odin and every time I think I finally got it, I still have the system recovery.
any help?

which slot do I put the kernel in?
Stop whatever your doing. Then...
Open ODIN, place the recovery.bin file in the recovery slot.
Be sure to use the .pit file.
Uncheck auto-reboot.
After successfully flashing CWM, pull the battery.
Boot into CWM and flash whatever custom rom you want.
Done.
You are having this problem because the stock kernel checks the recovery type/partition and if there is a mismatch, it automatically flashes the stock recovery again.
If you want stock + root & CWM, then replace the stock kernel with a custom one for your current build.

what recovery.bin? ha
I'm not used to using Odin.
Topic you should read
.tar.md5 file for CWM 5
My bad, I thought I had the actual .bin file, but just use the .tar.md5 file linked above. I'm too drunk to extract ****.
Twas a good night.
Good luck.

Why would you use the pit file? Repartitioning is not needed. Don't use the pit.
Put CWM tar in the PDA slot.
As mentioned, if you're on a stock ROM, delete the script (install-recovery.sh) to prevent stock recovery from overwriting CWM on boot. Or flash a different kernel.
tl;dr
Watch qbking's youtube guides.

B/c I flashed the recovery.tar file via odin w/o the pit file before and soft bricked. The next flash attempt I used the pit file, all was well.

Reflash. Preferably the right way this time.
There's plenty of guides on here on how to flash properly.

You guys suck at directions... sorry.
The gba3.tar goes in the pda section. Leave EVERYTHING unchecked. Nothing else should be put in anywhere just the kernel in pda slot.
Then once it says pass on odin unplug the device (yes I know it still says do not remove target just do it.)
Pop out the battery, put it back in and go back into download mode.
Then you can have auto-reboot checked, and odin in the recovery in the pda slot as well. Double check its only auto reboot and hit the start button.
This is the easiest method for n00bs, no going in and deleteing the "install-recovery.sh". No having to quickly unplug the battery before it boots and flashing a rom etc etc. This IS how Qbking77 does it, and this IS how it should properly be done.

You could put your phone into download mode and install one of sfhub's one click factory restores.
He has one for pretty much every version.

There is one kernel with CWM and one without it.
You'll have to wait until you get home. You have a GB kernel with an ICS ROM and that's why it won't boot all the way. And since you can't turn the phone all the way on Mobile Odin is out of the question. There really is no way to fix it without your computer.
