Hi,
Since you are running the 1.8x firmware. You need to downgrade it first. Check this post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=905003 follow the steps carefully (create goldcard etc)

Visionary will not work with version 1.84.
You need to try a get good copy of pd98img.zip installed before you are able to use Visionary.
Try that link again or you could try under Files at Ivo's Introductory Guide to this forum or Ace Test & Stock ROMS.

i've tried creating a goldcard using an empty 8gb card. loaded the goldcard.img into the card and i've downloaded twice the pd98img.zip.
i boot up into bootloader and it runs automatically. the first blue bar runs perfectly. but the second is gold bar in the end i got CID incorrect.
i followed the steps given and still can't get it right. still got s-off.
ok guys. i wipe everything from my mind now and start all over again.
i'm downloading 1.72.405.3 R2 now. can i just run it with my DHD plugged on my PC?
It has to be the PD98IMG from downgrade thread. It is not corrupted, it is a signed file so you cannot open it.

SD HC Cards don´t work pretty good for Goldcards.
The guide you are reading does not always work. Please follow the steps listed here CLEARLY and CAREFULLY. It will work if you do this as I have done this with many Desire HD phones from across the world including Malaysia.
This guide explains how to create a GoldCard. A GoldCard is a special SD card which, when inserted into your device, allows you to flash RUU files with a different CID to your own device. For example, if you own a T-Mobile branded device, this will allow you to flash a generic ROM.
Please note, I am not responsible if you damage your phone in anyway because of this, this is a guide written by someone else that I have extracted to share with you. This has worked for me and I have succesfuly used this method to de-brand over 5 Desire HDs
Requirements
•Spare microSD card
•Windows PC (recommended)
•ADB (part of the tools folder of the SDK, available for download here
http://developer.android.com/sdk/index.html
•HxD Hex Editor, available for download here http://mh-nexus.de/en/downloads.php?product=HxD
Step by step instructions
•Format the microSD card to FAT32 format.
•Put the microSD card in your device and boot it.
•Ensure you have unzipped the SDK (you can Google this to find the link to download it), then open a command prompt to the extract location (where you extracted the SDK Files). Change to the 'tools directory.
•Enter 'adb shell cat /sys/class/mmc_host/mmc2/mmc2:*/cid' and press enter. You should get a very long number which looks like this: 532600bd227d9c0347329407514d5402.
•Visit this http://hexrev.soaa.me/ , paste in your number and reverse it. In our example the result would be 00544d5107943247039c7d22bd002653.
•Visit this http://psas.revskills.de/?q=goldcard , enter your reversed number and create your goldcard image, which will be e-mailed to you.
•Open the HxD hex editor. If you are using Windows Vista or Windows 7, you must run the application as administrator.
•Go to the 'Extra' menu and select 'Open Disk'. Under physical disk, select Removable Disk (your microSD card), uncheck 'Open as Readonly' and click OK. Note that you should select physical disk NOT the logical disk. This is important!
•Go to the 'Extra' menu again and select 'Open Disk Image'. Open the goldcard image that you received by email.
•You should now have two tabs - one is your removable disk, the other is your goldcard image. Press OK when prompted for 'Sector Size' (selecting 512 (Hard disks/Floppy disks)) and click OK.
•Click on the goldcard image tab. Go to the 'Edit' menu, choose 'Select All' then select the 'Edit' menu again and select 'Copy'.
•Click on the 'Removable Disk' tab. Highlight offset (line) 00000000 to offset (line) 00000170 (including the 00000170 line), then click on the 'Edit' menu and select 'Paste Write'.
•Click on the 'File' menu and select 'Save', accepting the warning.
If you have troubles installing the SKD because it requires something to work hit next, back and then next again and it should install.
GOOD LUCK!
Thanks mate. Will try it out. Really appreciate for u guys.

Ive seen the program OpenRUU but can anyone tell me how to use it?
i want to flash from software 2.09 to 2.10 or above? is this possible? im rooted thru unrevoked but running a stock rom. Other than a gold card do i need anything else to use this program? and even if the ruu fails, it will not damage my phone?
thanks, adbird
EDIT: Actually do i need a gold card, my phone used to be branded under telus, but then i flashed a couple roms and eventually flashed the stock WWE rom, so do i need a gold card?
I have no experience with Mac but if you can't use a RUU, there is the PB99IMG.zip(which you can find using windows when the RUU is extracted) method which functions pretty much the same.
As for the gold card, you do need one, - debranding a branded handset doesn't make it unbranded .
Some people confuse "debranded" and "unbranded".
k thanks i guess i gotta go buy another sd card :/
There is no problem in making your regular card in the device, your goldcard, i.e., you don't need a dedicated microSD for gold card use exclusively .
but isnt clockworkmod kept on the sd? what if you format it
If I understand you correctly, you want to flash "2.10 or above".
Make a your card a goldcard ;
Put the ROM you want to install in the root of the memory card (/sdcard/ - in other words it should not be in any folder);
Make sure that the rom is renamed from something like "PB99IMG_Bravo_Froyo_HTC_WWE_2.29.405.2_Radio_32.49.00.32U_5.11.05.27_release_151783_signed.zip" to "PB99IMG.zip" (zip is the extension, not part of the name);
Turn off the phone;
Turn on the phone while holding volume down, it should be recognized and you'll be asked to apply it.
will that unroot the device?
This might work for you
It helps flashing RUU's
WAIT, BEFORE YOU START, CREATE A GOLDCARD. IT IS VERY NECESSARY. THINGS WILL GO WRONG IF YOU DONT.
EDIT: YOU MUST BE ABLE TO BOOT GO TO THE BOOTLOADER MENU.
Firstly, download this file. http://dl.dropbox.com/u/13240777/Desire Downgrade.ZIP
Extract the files.
Transfer the file PB99IMG to the root of your SD card (It is located in the extracted files)
Secondly, disconnect your phone and turn it off.
After that boot up your phone while pressing the volume down button and the power button.
The bootloader should be checking for files after awhile and once it found the file that is supposed to be in the root of your sd card, press the volume up button (NOT EXACTLY SURE, SHOULD BE THE ONE THAT SAYS YES AND CONTINUE)
It should be writing files to your phone. and replaces everything. E.G: HBOOT, RECOVERY,RADIO and such.
It should be writing files successfully and then it would ask you to reboot. Continue with the reboot and you should be having your Desire back to stock. Perfect.
PLEASE KEEP IN MIND THAT THERE ARE RISKS INVOLVED LIKE FAILURE OF WRITING TO THE HBOOT. PLEASE REMEMBER TO FOLLOW INSTRUCTIONS. MAINLY, DO NOT BLAME ME FOR ANYTHING THAT GOES WRONG.
FINALLY, YOU SHOULD BE READING EVERYTHING UP TO HERE AND THAT YOU MUST HAVE A GOLDCARD (A GOLD SD CARD)
Hope this helps you and please ask if you have further questions. PM me if the questions cannot be answered here. Good Luck

Yes, flashing a RUU unroots the phone.
But rooting again is easy.
I've been trying to flash the Rom onto my phone, however every time I try It goes through all the install processes and says that is complete, but when I reboot the system it shows me the HTC Splash screen goes black shows me the splash screen again and then throws me back into Clockwork. I have cleared the cache and did a factory reset. So does anyone know what could be the problem?
I had the same problem... you actually need th DZ h-boot..
Im currently changin the boot but im having a problem with it.. ill let you know how it goes after im done with this problem.
I found something about the DZ H-Boot, but I have no Idea how to use ADK to get it on my phone, is there a guide that doesn't assume you know how to use it, or a way to do it without ADK?
www.virtuousrom.com
read it. follow directions.
to learn more about the SDK, check the wiki. there's a complete guide on how to install/set up your computer for ADB push.
I searched all over the wiki and can not find anything about setting up for a ADB Push.
just Google it or Bing it or duck it . there are guides all over the internet for different platforms .

You don't necessarily need ADB to flash the DZ hboot to the G2 I tried this method and it worked flawlessly...
Credit to codemonkey10 for the step by step process..
You need the DZ H-Boot... the rom wont run or install unless you have it. here is how to install it on your phone (guessing its a g2) without having to use adb... (and here is the dz hboot download... http://files.virtuousrom.com/vision/misc/PC10IMG.zip)
Do a full nandroid backup before any of this, and you will need an sd card reader....
Download the h-boot and move it to the root of your sd card.
Turn the phone off and turn it back on by holding volume down and power.
You’ll be ask if you want to update, press volume up to proceed.
After your done you be asked press power to reboot, press it.
You should will see the white HTC screen, wait 5-10 seconds then pull battery.
Pull sd card out of phone, and place in a card reader.
Delete the PC10IMG file (dz hboot) and put the sd card back in the phone.
Then hold volume down and power to go to bootloader
Once in bootloader go to recovery
Do not wipe anything because the new h-boot wiped everything
In recovery go to install zip from sd card
Then, choose zip from sd card
Find the Virtuous Unity Rom in the sd card.
Choose it and wait for it to install
Once it is finished choose reboot now.

Situation:
I decided to root my phone this morning, spend hours reading guides and decided to try the AMT, everything runs fine till the point where I'm ready to downgrade after applying a temp root, the bootloader recognized PC10IMG.zip which I obtained from RUU but failed with an error 'CID does not match' and from the guide that I'm using it says that I need goldcard.
I check my CID using AMT and it return HTC__044 which is the reason why I need to create the gold card, so then I create a goldcard in another spare card that I got, copied my PC10IMG.zip and redo all the step with a goldcard loaded, now the problem is that the bootloader now does not recognize PC10IMG.zip anymore.
Can someone point out a solution prior to my problem? Would it happens because I create a wrong goldcard?
Sent from my HTC Vision using Tapatalk
Are you using a smaller MicroSD card? I noticed that flashing PC10IMG.zip files only seems to work on MicroSDHC cards. That should be 4GB or larger.
You are right, I'm using a 2gb micro sd, will try with my 8gb micro sdhc, will report back.

I think I've read somewhere that several users had problem with file extension, however I believe it's not my case. I do use windows however I turn on the file extension view in folder option, thus I rename my file PC10IMG.zip and I also confirm the name change in astro file manager it's exactly PC10IMG.zip.
So the renaming works with you? I'll check my file name again later this afternoon at lunch break

thanks guys for the reply, it's now confirmed that the problem is my goldcard.
To recap what has happened with hope it will help people with the same problem:
1. Any Micro SD will works, but keep it minimum 1Gb
2. Format with FAT32
3. When you already get CID, split the code into pairs and reverse the order of the pair
i.e. 12345678 split it into 12 34 56 78 then reverse the order while other guide simply said 'reverse' which is ambiguous, to demonstrate my example 78 56 34 12. Next what you need to do is to put this code into http://psas.revskills.de/?q=goldcard
3.a if you use goldcard helper, which is what I recommend, take note the code in mmc2 instead of using the copy feature from the program which will take mmc0.

first of all you don't need the SDK. Just download a terminal app from the market, install it (it doesn't need root) and execute the Terminal. Type the command 'pm set InstallLocation 2' directly into Terminal and you will see that you get a 'permission denied' error. You can see what it is currently set to by typing 'get installLocation', you will get a '0' indicating it is set to auto, i.e. the phone controls it. I think the WildFire S is going to end up being the least supported phone until root/s-off is available.
read carefully this post
I just try not using SDK, but with android terminal emulator from market and used command: pm setInstallLocation 2 and worked but only for applications which already could be moved to SD card from Settings>applications>manage applications. The other ones automatically install in internal memory (iGo for example) or did not install at all (said there is not enough memory ex: SystemPanel App). In my opinion this method has 0 functionality for our WF S.
I can confirm that this method actually works. After following all the steps on my non-rooted, Android 2.3.3 Wildfire S I was able to move the Astro file manager, the Mobo Player Codec (which took almost 7mb on the phone memory, now only 4 kb!), etc. to the SD card. All these user apps couldn't be installed on the SD memory before.
Thus I was able to double my free phone storage, as yaret originally stated. In fact, I was struggling with Friendstream telling me every time I don't have enough phone memory (not RAM) to run it (under 20480 kb or something like that). Therefore I had to clear all the cash data repeatedly, several times a day. You could imagine how irritating this was. No such problems any more. What is more, I think my Wildfire S works faster and more smoothly now.
Of course, you still can't move preinstalled system apps on the SD card, you would need root access for that. For further information please read the link in post 1 carefully.
Overall HUGE thanks to yaret for sharing this useful method!
Hey,
thanks for this
Hello, I have a few questions. Please help me!
1) To download the latest version of Android SDK (which includes adb executable), follow instructions from step 2 in the Installing the SDK article from the official Android development site. Note: you do not need to install any other software such as Eclipse for this procedure.
Do I need to download the EXE file or the ZIP file? I downloaded the EXE file as it says I need Java JDK. But even after downloading JDK, then installer doesn't go forward. What should I do?
Also, you said follow from step 2. As you said, we don't need to follow step 3 i.e; installing Eclipse so we don't need to check step 4 and 5, right?
2) If you are installing Android SDK on Windows machine, you also need to install USB driver as described in USB driver for Windows section.
I'm using HTC Wildfire S. There are drivers available only for Samsung Nexus S. I don't think there are any drivers available for HTC Wildfire S. What should I do? Skip it or what?
3) Start terminal window on your computer.
By terminal you mean CMD, right?
___________________________________
I'm so new to this. Please help me! Thank you, sir
Answer to Royal King:
1)I prefer the zip file, is more clear...
4 and 5 step is very important. It's easy to do it. Please follow it.
2)I didn't install the USB drivers for windows. After installin the software, needs update. I think it did it automatically. So you are ok
3)to start a terminal just: a)click START button b) in the search section write: CMD
Worked fine here just follow steps below remeber to have sdk setup and point it to platform-tools
Type the following two lines in the terminal window and press Enter after each line:
adb shell
pm setInstallLocation 2
Now on your phone go to Settings->Applications->Manage Applications->All.
Press hardware Menu button and select Sort by Size.
Tap on each app that is taking significant amount of space and tap Move to SD card button. Press hardware Back button and repeat.
(optional) To change the default installation location for new apps back to the internal phone memory, go back to your terminal window and type:
pm setInstallLocation 0
(important) Go to Settings -> Applications -> Development and disable USB debugging. Leaving USB debugging enabled makes your phone vulnerable (e.g. lock pattern can be reset).
Enjoy!
