Yes. What ROM are you running? CWM3 is for EXT4 filesystem only. So it must be detecting that it never converted your file system. You should use the one click root with CWM 3.0.0.6, have an EXT4 compatible ROM on your sd card ready to flash, then boot into Clockwork, let it convert to EXT4, flash the ROM, then you can try Rom Manager. I know a lot of people are using it but have also heard warnings against it.
Don't use rom manager. Its bad news for the epic. Use the one click root with cwm3. Rom manager will fflash cwm version 3.0.2.4. And you want cwm 3.0.0.6

I was affected by CWM when I upgraded to 3.0. I can't flash any ROM's except for Fresh's. I've tried going through Rom Manager, manually downloading ROM, AR recovery. The ROM install will complete but when I reboot I'm still in Fresh's. I don't know what it did to my phone. I've even deleted the rom.zip and downloaded it again thinking it was a bad download. From here on out I'm permanently switching to AR so if you guys can let me know what I should do.
By the way I list my backups. I did have a backup of UD but it won't restore in CWM. Will it work if I copy the backup from CWM and move it to the Amon Ra folder? I don't want to try it and possible make things worse.

Yes I need help on this, too. I wanted to go to Myn's rom and can not at all. And I believe I read backups are not interchangeable between CW and RA.
You need to restore amon_ra 1.8 as your recovery and then reflash your rom. Cwm backups are not compatible with ra.

I tried that. I re-downloaded the ROM's, placed on the root, flashed in Amon Ra and it completes but doesn't boot up. Out hangs at the white htc evo splash screen. The CWM broke my phone.
I'm trying to avoid flashing the stock RUU and rooting again. I'm guessing there may be a file thats conflicting. By the way I deleted ROM manager permanently.

you can do this using cwm(rom manager) , if its greyed out then dl the latest amon_ra1.8 and put on the root of your sd card, then try again thru cwm. thats what worked for me.
But yea the latest cwm update isnt something to get excited about. doesnt play nice on some evo's.
stick with good ole faithful Amon_Ra and start flashing from recovery, not from some app. its always stable and not to mention wipes correctly/easily
Any tips? I need to get my AOSP rom and Sense ROM loaded.

Sounds like you are referring to rom manager? You cant use rom manager to.flash cwm on the.epic. you have to run the one click root with cwm. Use that to root your phone. You can either use the.one.click root that gives you clockwork version 2 or the best option since most roms are ext4 is.to run the one.click with cwm3.0.0.6 and.when you boot into recovery it will format your file system from rfs to ext4 then you have.to flash a rom.

It could be several things. For whatever reason it rarely ever worked for me the first try. Make sure you have the latest windows drivers for SPH-D700 installed and have nothing like pdanet or easytether running that will conflict.
I've had it hang twice running the script in the little DOS window and still eventually succeed, so keep trying. Once it succeeds and reboots it will convert your filesystem automatically.

I running CM7 (nightly 58) and I already have CWM flashed, but when I open ROM Manager, it claims I don't and wants to flash it for me. Is there any harm in doing this? I have CWM version 3.0.0.5 showing when I reboot, and ROM Manager 4.1.0.0 installed.
Maybe it wants you to update to the latest version? (3.0.0.8)
I don't know, I don't use rom manager..

It won't hurt to reflash on top of it, even if it is already flashed.
The other thing that could be happening, if you delete the clockworkmod folder on your sdcard it will ask you to reflash. It uses the folder to keep track of what version you have.
What it wants to do is flash 3.0.0.8. You can do it with no problems. If you want to switch back to 3.0.0.5, just go to the section at the bottom that shows all clockwork recoveries and choose one.
When i install a ROM they install but when i reboot my phone nothing happens some app icons change but that's it Please help
see page 2
Rooted Epic 4g EC05 Stock rom
You have to provide more information so we can help you out. What ROM are you installing? What is your current recovery? Are you using the purp 3.1.0.1? Did you wipe System/data, cache partition, and Dalvik Cache 3x? We can get you straightened out. Just give some more details.

all ROM's do it but im trying to convert over to ext4 and run syndicate ROM . Yes i have wiped data/factory restore and flushed dalvik 3x every time... cwm recovery v2.5.1.0
you cant install srf 1.2 on that recovery.. you need to upgrade to 3.1.0.1, cwm2x does not support ext4
You need to update clockwork to 3.1.0.1. You're using an outdated recovery.

Rom manager doesn't really work for epic. You have to turn off your phone and then hold camera, vol down and power to get into your recovery. Check qbking's videos. They will make a lot of sense. You may want to odin your phone and restart. I'm not sure how much craziness you may have started. Backup major stuff with Titanium and everything will pretty much be normal without major loss.
Wow, its been a while since I was that far back on recovery. Let me check TheRoot's link...EDIT..yup TheRoot's link has a flashable version of the 3.1.0.1 recovery that will get you right where you want to be to flash all of the current batch of ROMs. PM me if you get stuck and I will go step by step

After you finish, download ACS updater and it'll give you the goodness you were looking for in Rom Manager. There's also a support thread in Apps.

If you're flashing SRF 1.2, don't worry. It's built in. Just flash the rom, journaling on and a kernel and you're on your way. Use the thanks button as well, please.
Ok im running sfr on my epic looks amazing and ext4 and set cpu 1200mhz combined is amazingly fast thanks to all

Im just did the root process. Snd everything is working great. I installed rom manager and used that to flash cwm recovery. It says I have it now installed. But when I reboot into recovery it goes into some sort of Android thing. I can't even make a backup. Any thoughts

Don't use ROM Manager to install recovery. It doesn't work properly.
Use the Auto Root package in the development sticky (also in my signature)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1342728
I've heard that ROM Manager essentially boots a recovery over your actual recovery, so you don't really have a real one. Like sfhub said, use that auto root package and select C to get CWM on your phone
