Music player - Epic 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Everything on my phone is stock EC05 but I am rooted. My music player will not play any of my music files it keeps telling me it can't play these types of files I also tried playing my music files on gtunes music player and it said the same thing, so I tried downloading a new mp3 tried play it and same thing. Any suggestions on how to fix this? Also when I try to set sounds as a ringer or notification it will say ok but when I get a call I get no sound

Probably corruption on your SD card, copy any important files to your desktop, format the Sd card then copy back.

Have you tried shutting off your Epic, removing the SD card, put it back in, and reboot? Sometimes SD cards can slide out of their slot a bit; it's probably just a minor glitch, nothing to worry about.

Thanks for the tips guys. I tried your method first acer and it worked.

[Q] Samsung stock Music Player issue...

When using the stock music player, it will play for a minute and then the phone will lock & reboot. Anyone else having this issue? I've reverted to using Google Play as my main music player, and I have no issues with that app.
Thoughts?

could just be a system bug?
Never had this problem... Wipe data/cache under settings /applications
Fired From My Fire Device.
Sorry to drag up this thread...
I also had this issue. Seemed to only happen when I was playing music that was on my 64GB MicroSD card. If I transfer the same music files to the internal storage - everything is fine!
I might try another SD Card to see if that's the problem.

Galaxy Note 2 and memory card issue

I am using a Galaxy Note 2 on stock ROM, unrooted. I have a bunch of songs on my SD card inside the Music folder. This Music folder has two sub-folders to separate the FLAC and MP3 songs. The problem is I can browse to the folders and listen to songs one by one while navigating from the phone. The Music Player plays the songs alright. However, the Music player does not default to the Music folder on the SD Card. But if I copy the same Music folder on to the internal memory of the phone, the Music player recognizes the folders perfectly and plays all the songs. The same SD card is recognized across two other phones and my Tab2 without any issues, so I am not sure what is wrong. I want to play the songs of the SD card as I need the internal memory to install games. Please advise and thanks in advance.

No other option? Is there no way to get the default music player to recognize the music folder on the sd card?

It's a well known issue that the external SD card doesn't work with M at the moment...
You updated too early if you really need the card.

Songs cut off before the end on stock music player

Ever since I updated my device to KitKat I noticed that the stock music player skips the end of the song and starts a new one without me pressing next. I have factory reset, and wiped the cache partition as suggested by a Samsung tech support (even though I think that they don't know what they are doing, but I give them credit for trying ?). I have tried different players and the songs do play all the way on those but not the stock player. I would prefer to fix the stock player because I'm used to it and really don't like the other players, but if i don't have any options then I guess I'm out of luck. Btw, I'm running stock 4.4.2 TW not rooted. Any help you be appreciated, thanks.

I am having the exact same problem. It's only for a specific few of songs and I can predict it when I hear a song that I know does it. This has been happening to me since before the kitkat update. Anyone one else having this problem or know a fix?
I have had the same issue. It's the music file. The file wasn't 1. Downloaded properly 2. The file wasn't uploaded fully to start with.

Well I forgot to add this in my post. If I seek through the song and get close to where it skips it does not skip the ending.
I also tried using a different music player, the play music app, and it too skipped as well.
Are you dowbloading from an app or buying the song?

I'm downloading them off my computer and putting them on through the "Easy Phone Sync" application. It allows you to copy songs from your iTunes to your phone. I've tested to see if its just the actual file and the song does not skip on iTunes.
Try to copy them straight from your PC to your phone

Temporary solution
I m using Nexus 5, Android 5.0.1 and I discovered something yesterday relating to this issue.
Play Music skips last few seconds of song and that always annoys me. But I found a temporary way to correct it.
While you are playing a song on Play Music, click Multi-Screen Soft button (next to Home soft button) and remove Play Music from stack of apps. In my phone, even though the app is removed from stack of apps, it still appears on notification ( top right corner of the screen) Now, pull down the home screen to go to notification and play the music from there. This solves the skipping of music.
I havent tested in other phones, but it works well on mine.
I have this problem too on my one touch evolve 2 running 4.4.2
Stock music player skipping...
My problem is a bit different from the ones above. I'm on a Galaxy 5 Kit Kat. The stock music player will skip the FIRST few seconds of tracks. Not all, but about 50% of them. Does not do it on the Google Player. Synced from WMP. Always worked with my Galaxy 3.
hi

Music not playing correct song

Afternoon all
Got my M9 Wednesday and so far really like it apart from one problem.......
I put my music onto the sd card but when I go to play some songs it play a totally different song and when I forward to the next track it will play a different one again or the same wrong song as last time
I've formatted sd card and converted all tracks to same mp3 format and still not got it all working right.
Anyone any ideas on this?
Thanks
Edit... Using stock rom 1.32.161.15
Pls switch off the RANDOM PLAYBACK.. Thanx
Sorted it... Loads of files been corrupted
They probably could get corrupted if something went wrong during copying 'em..

Music player resets songs

I don't know why but everytime my phone restarts all my song titles get reset. I have set tags for all my songs and have even tried renaming them one by one using the edit info button yet it still fails to save. Even if I rescan it just resets back. All my songs are on a nano sd memory card in my phone. I have run out of ideas and am wondering if anyone knows how to fix these problems
