Hey guys i was wondering what is the best way to back up my apps and data for my apps on my desire z.
My phone has alot of dust under the screen and its soo bad i can't see 1/4 of my screen so im getting it replaced. I don't want to search for all my apps again so i was wondering what is the best way to back all my data up.
I would prefer not to root since i am exchanging it and everything so any idea or do i have to root it and use titanium backup?
you can use "mybackup" it'll backup games, sms, contacts, call logs, and media. It'll work for non-rooted phones as well.
I heard Titanium Backup works great

hello,
just wondering if you knew of any good apps that can backup and restore texts.
currently use titanium backup for all my apps. but love flashing roms, so something to save my texts would be great.
thanks you in advanced
mybackup pro will do the trick for you. it will also backup apks and data too. i use that instead of ti backup
been using SMSbackup+ (free from market) for a couple of months without any probs
I use sms backup and restore, got it set to automatically back up every 6 hours and it archives them all in to one file.
Doesnt backup mms though so all those nude pics you get from random women will have to be saved first or lost for all eternity
backsup thousands of texts in less than a minute and restores in a few minutes

Handcent has integrated backup of MMS/SMS/Settings. To access this setting you will have to pay a fee. Not much, but still a fee. I did it, and is happy with this service that they provide.
I think that SmsBackup+ is the best tool. It uses your gmail account to store your smses. What's best, it can also restore everything. You can set it to backup on a schedule or on sms arrival. It's really great, has no ads. I really am thankful for the author for I would not use the app if it had ads in it. THANK YOU SO MUCH, if for some reason u see this!

+1 for this app. It's amazing at how fast it backs up and restores!
Hi.
Lately I've been changing between the new versions of the Oxygen ROM, and it's a real pain in the ass saving all my phone numbers over and over again, and losing all my text messages.
Is there any easy way of backing up this?
you open your phone book, hit the menu button, import/export, export to sd card. At least it works like this with HTC Sense, don't know if they changed the phone book...
Don't know how to back up texts though...
try an app called mybackup, it backs up not only apps+data, it saves contacts, messages, calender tags, bookmarks, call logs and many more
Titanium backup, mybackup pro, sms backup does the work. I prefer Titanium.
There has got to be an easier way of taking backup than Titanium?
My Backup Pro has got a much simpler interface than Titanium backup. But I prefer Titanium because it is way powerful and has many options like Freezing the application, Sync to Dropbox etc.
FAQ section in Titanium Backup gives you a nice overview of the available options. So it only takes few minutes to understand the features that are required for common backups.
I use titanium for apps as, like others have said, it's more flexible and allows you to choose what you backup/restore/delete etc.
I also use mybackup pro as it's very quick and simple to back up dictionaries, sms, call logs etc (not contacts, as all of mine are google anywaay).
Briefly, how much will I lose? Contacts, apps, cookies for registrations, and..... Any other data. Can I "backup" info for a clean recovery? For giggles, how did I conjure this dilemma?, if your knowing.¿?... And again BIG thanxs for your passing of knowing. Thanks, im sure ill hafta post again for simple confusion, so keep and eye on. Much appreciated..

If your rooted get titanium and mybackup rooted that should cover all ur needs for recovery. Just back up apps + data no system data in Titanium. In mybackup contacts, call log, sms, mms and calendar.
Thanks bro, but my stuff has all factory mods.all ive done is a wheel barrel of applications. Thanks.. Done u know of a good stock backup?

Before i was rooted i used MyBackUp Pro.
I backed up MMS, SMS, Calendar Events, Book Marks, Call logs and contacts.
Worked great for me. I also used it when i moved from an EVO to an EPIC.
what all are you guys using to migrate your app data from your current phone to the Note 4? Helium has been my go-to for awhile but i wanted to know if there were any other options out there that i should consider too. (moderators forgive me if this is a duplicate topic, i didn't see any in this forum thus far)
I honestly wouldn't even bother transferring app data over unless it is extremely important. I wouldn't want to carry files from an old phone to a new one. Keep it fresh and don't bring over dirty files. May not do anything bad but just my take. Kinda same thing when you wipe data when flashing roms. Dirty flashing can lead to unwanted issues, just as carrying over files from another phone can.
Unless you find a good app to do so. Keep us posted.
thank you. i'm primarily interested in retaining my game data, such as Subway Surfers, Clumsy Ninja, Angry Birds, etc, where it's taken awhile to level up and i would hate to start fresh. i also always transfer text messages and call logs as well. i use SMS Backup/Restore for my texts, Helium for system settings and other app data, and Verizon Cloud for my call logs. i never rooted the S5, been so busy with work i haven't had time to look into tinkering with those settings, so i know that Titanium Backup would not be an option.
Good question. . . I have used Titatnium Backup in the past problem there however is root on N4.
What tu3218 does make sense as well unless you had some way to guarantee or verify it wasn't going to create a bunch of junk in directories which shouldn't exist.
If someone has a good solution I would like to hear it as well. I have three 2-step verify apps which would be nice to just transfer rather than removing and adding manually.
Helium
I bought the full version of Helium and that will transfer all save game data. I downloaded all my apps fresh from the play store after I activated the note. I then used Helium to restore a backup of the games I wanted to keep my save data on.
I also used reware my backup pro to restore my call logs, small, and mms message database.

+1 - Righ on cbdudek. That is exactly how I would do it.
* My backup will restore - call logs, contacts, sms, mms etc..
* Helium to restore games' backup
*Not recommend to restore system settings, or old apps. Download fresh from play store. The theory is every time you move into a new house, you need to do a good clean up and throw out all the junks....
appreciate it everyone. about to give Helium a go and see what happens. rather than restoring all of my app data, i only backed up the game data this time around, so we will see how that goes. i'll let you all know in the morning what happens. how do you like your Note 4's thus far?
i never use titanium or any auto backup method to transfer files to a new fone. it always causes tiny little glitches here and there. Best thing to do is start fresh. For contacts and calendar its all on my GMAIL. for text messages I use GO SMS so i can backup and restore within that app no problems. I use nova launcher so i can backup my home screen and all my other screens and restore it with nova no issues. beyond that its all manual input. I have a few remote dvr viewing apps and i configure all those again manually as well as all my mail settings and what not.
Helium works best without root and you can migrate the app over wifi.

Only some apps.
Just wondering if anyone has shifted from using Titanium backup to HTC Backup.
I noticed in one of the post that Leedroid uses HTC Backup, a few threads show that it does the job.
I've been using Titanium backup for a long long time, it does a decent job but misses a few settings here and there, every now and then you get an issue where a restore process will lock a process up.
On the M9, and this might just be me missing something in my backup, but I dont tend to get my Alarms and themes, few other bits and pieces.
I want to be able to backup apps + data, plus userconfig preferences, Wifi, bluetooth, alarms etc...
So how do people find HTC Backup for those kinds of tasks?
I use htc backup for everything except the apps I have side loaded manually as htc backup won't always restore those. I then let htc backup restore everything and go into titanium and restore the missing apps and any additional app data that I care about.
Titanium I know preserves apps in their present state. I've never needed anything else for that, Google does my contacts, I don't care for messages and WhatsApp backs itself up.
Media on my SD card.
Haven't used HTC back up, but have heard that it does serve as expected, but if you're rooted and don't use titanium then I think you're missing a trick.
