Hi people.
As the post says, I'm now onto my 3rd root an s-off with desires.
I've successfully rooted all three phones with unrevoked with no problems at all. (MUCH LOVE UNREVOKED, THANKYOU FOR MAKING IT SOOOOO EASY.)
I've also s-offed all three phones with alpharev with no problems at all. (MUCH LOVE ALPHAREV FOR TOO MAKING IT SOOOOO EASY).
Now the first two phones are running on CM 7's, but the 3rd wants to be on CM 6.1.1. I've tried 3 times now an can't get it on! I've wiped davlik cache and still just get bootloops?
Has anyone got any suggestions?
TIA.

Does the rom have Apps2SD installed? Does the SD card have the necessary EXT partition if so?
Full wipe?

Thanks for the quick replies folks.
As far as I know the version of CM 6.1.1 I've downloaded doesn't have the app2sd script in it. Its the same version I've flashed to my personal phone, which definitely doesn't have a SD ext, and its worked perfectly in the past?
I will try the full wipe option first. Is it better to do this from recovery or use the option in the phones settings?

I have recently rooted and S-OFF'd my friends Desire.
I used unrevoked and alpharev (much love to you guys) to get the phone ready. I'm now trying to get him running Cyanogen 6.1.1 but keep getting bootloops? I've tried 6.1.0 but get the same thing?
I'm flashing these manually (not via rommanager) and remember that clearing the davlic is sometimes needed to prevent bootloops? Is this what I'm missing? I remember when I did my desire I never had any problems? What am I making a hash of?
Many thanks in advance.

Yes, try wiping dalvik cache and rebooting.
It should help.

ok, got my desire a month ago unbranded
rooted with unrevoked and got clockworkmod running
tried to make a nandroid backup then the phone just went into a boot loop
i searched the web and apparently its happening with unrevoked desires alot and all you need to do is to apply the recovery you made
however, after applying the recovery, my desire just gets stuck on the white HTC bootscreen, left it for an hour and its still like that. can get into HBOOT and clockwork mod but dont know what to do now- i've tried everything- wiping partition, davlick cache etc.
Can someone please please please help me!! My desire is PVT4 S-ON, stock froyo sense rom, clockworkmod v2.5.07. What ROMS can i flash onto it cyanogenmod, leedroid, open desire etc? Any help will be very welcome.
Sorry if posted in wrong section, am new
Thanks
Just copy another Rom to the root of your SD, perform a complete wipe and then flash that.

sorry am pretty noob as you can tell, what kind of rom will i need? cyanogen, open desire?
thanks for the reply
That's up to you ... do you prefer sense or a sense free Rom? Go over to the development section and read up, there are many great roms to choose from. It's all down to preference at the end of the day.

And I assume you know how to flash a custom Rom. Only other advice I would give is remember to partition your SD card if you want to flash an ap2sd Rom

thanks so much, flashed clockworkmod and everything is working perfectly
so scared that i had bricked my desire
Hi guys, i only got my desire yesterday (bye bye cliq/dext at last) its a uk desire pvt-4 with 40000 errorsize. I had a small problem rooting where unrevoked 3.32 wouldn't properly install amonRA or CWM, in the end i had to use unrevoked 3.21 and i'm now running ReflexTSenseHD 1.8 Sense DHD 2.2 FRF91 A2SD+ OC'd to 1113Mhz. Have tried flashing a lot of the roms available and not all of them seem to work for me. CyanogenMOD7 and Oxygen v2.0 RC7 get to the setup screen and then go into an endless bootloop, whilst DeFroST 6.1a, RCMixHD v3.0 and Amethyst RC7 won't load past the htc splash screen. I have H BOOT S-ON still as i'm not entirely confident at attempting the AlphaRev 1.8 method just yet, could this be the cause?
Thanks in advance for any replies, kingears

No. When your using a new rom, you have to do a factory reset and wipe both caches. If that doesn't work then just reflash it or wipe the /system partition since it seems to work for me. With PVT4 you do need AmonRA recovery since CWM doesn't work properly. You can S-Off you Desire but it isn't needed at all unless you need it doing.
I always wipe data, cache and dalvik cache before flashing a new rom, so seems strange that some work and some don't. I didn't think having S-ON would make a difference.

I don't know. Use AmonRA recovery and redownload roms. Check the md5 to see if it's downloaded alright then flash it. There shouldn't be a problem unless the root went tits up
Will do, thanks for your help

Just make sure you are not using fake recovery from inside rom manager.
I don't get why a lot of people still use that useless app.
I don't use Rom manager, no need for it

me either, it's so easy to use clockworkmod recovery, why do you still need an app?
Hello guys (and girls)
I have a really big issue here.... I used alpharevX to s-OFF my Wildfire, after succeeding I rooted my phone, also worked. Downloaded clockworkmod and then I'd try to install cyanogenmod 7.0.0. but the picture with the android on the skateboard was in a loop for a few hours.. (lol). I'd tryed some things in recovery mode, but now everytime I reboot, I'm stuck in the hboot! Have I bricked my phone now?
I have vodafone
If you could help me, I would appreciate it big time!
Nope. Not bricked.
Guess u didn't make a factory reset / data wipe before installing cm7.
And lol. How did u wait for hours. I would have just pulled out the battery.
Make factory reset and data wipe and reinstall cm7. Hope it solves

Tried factory reset, but when I reboot, still in hboot
Try flashing a different rom?
And why the heck did you get CM7 7.0.0, we're on 7.0.3 in stable builds
Even didn't get u clearly. Maybe are u talking about android picture in recovery mode.
If so, u should use trackpad to select options in recovery. Pressing power button will give u back options and sometimes that picture. Re-pressing the power button gets rid of that picture.

Cyanogenmod 7.0.0. had the most downloads so i tought it was the most secure one.., first time rooting here!
@bharat: I am aware of that! Did everything with the trackpad.

He's right.
You should download 7.0.3
In other things, you should wipe everything and have a factory reset of data.
Then go to partitions menu and manually format /system /boot....
and then try installing the CM7 zip.
See if that helps.
Am installing the newest cm7 now!
I'm curious

I'm Stuck on HTC Logo after installing CyanogenMod 7.2 :/
After installing Wildchild it works fine :/
Why can't i use cyanogenMod :/
Need Helppp!!!!
I think you have a wildfire S phone. Wildfire and wildfire S are totally different phones. Wildfire roms will not work on Wildfire S.
You can use roms on wildfire S forum..

i switched from mimicry to trickdroid recently and i cant get past the white htc screen. i already posted about this and ive been getting help but i noticed that it was in a ONE S section and so im guessing theres going to be some problems later. anyway, i already flashed boot.img and everything. nothing seems to work. my phones been turning off randomly lately as well. what should i do? un-root and re-root? or flash the PC10IMG.zip? any help would be appreciated. i dont NEED trickdroid but i hear its one of the best right now. i loved mimicry but the battery would go from 100 to 20, back up to 60? something was off.
Problem flashing trickdroid may be you have the wrong bootloader, you will need the desire z one as it has a larger system partition required for that ROM. You shouldn't need to fastboot flash a kernel unless you used the HTC dev bootloader method to gain root. If you rooted properly with gfree than you can just flash the new bootloader via fastboot, see here for more details
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=27796375
If you want see post 30 in that thread for a pc10img.zip that may be easier for you but fastboot is always safer.
As for the issues with the battery I doubt its mimicry, and I also doubt you will have a faster phone with trick droid, maybe prettier if you want sense though.

Okay so i switched my hboot to the DZ one and its working! i just have one more question, i had to partition my sd card and enable swap to make it run smoother. so i did that, flashed cwm, went to partition sd, 128, 256, and it was done. then i noticed everything on my sd card was gone and new folders appeared. it seemed more organized but everything was gone. was this supposed to happen?
Yeah that will happen, think of a format as a super wipe. If you use 4ext recovery you may be able to add/change swap or ext partition but always backup first

okay, thank you so much. you actually got it to work for me. now im having trouble with the tweaks haha. i dont really need tweaks anyways. at first i flashed the tweaks and it got stuck at the htc desire HD screen. so i superwiped, and flashed the trickdroid rom again. do i have to partition sd and run swap_enabler script again? or will i never have to run it again because i already did it once.
Don't need to repartition sd card, it will stay as is untill you reformat it. I don't use trick droid but if it doesn't have swap built in by defult you need to run the enable script at any reflash
