[Q] How to enable boot up sound on Syndicate 1.0.1? - Epic 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I am trying to put custom sounds for the boot up and shut down screens and the shut down works but the boot up doesnt. I have followed the directions to the t but i read somewhere that the boot up sound has been disabled on syndicate roms...any help on how to enable it?

Name a WAV format sound that you want to use PowerOn.wav and put it in /system/etc.
Also, if you're still using SyndicateROM Frozen 1.0.1, you're massively out of date and need to upgrade now.

Shutdown is in /system/media/audio/ui/shutdown.ogg

I have done this and the only one that works is the shutdown. Is the boot up sound enabled?
I am also on 1.01 bc I had had issues with 1.0.2 and 1.1 ec05. Switched Kernels and everything, had horrible battery life. To me, 1.0.1 was the most stable and I got the best performance on a day to day use (for me).

[Q] 4.02 to 4.03 Lucky or Did I Fix Permissions?

I went from ViperROM [Apocalypse] EXT4-RFS Dual DK28 4.0.2c to
[ROM]VIPERrom [FRoZeN] EXT4-RFS Dual DK28 4.0.3 and have it working without Odin. First time loaded the rom it hung and rebooted. Wanted to go back to 4.02c. Installed 4.02c no wipes (because of script). I thought I would try frozen one more time. Then did all wipes and used the fixed permission option..then installed Frozen and worked after that. Did I get lucky or did the fix permissions do anything? Note I am running DK28 RFS. Just wanted to share in case this is a potential work around that is actually pretty simple did with no computer from my couch while watching TV. ROM is as usual AMAZING!

[Q] Random lockups/won't wake from sleep

I'm running CM6.1.1 currently, but I've been having this issue since before I flashed that. The problem is that the phone, generally when it's been in my pocket (but not always) will lock up in such a way that I can't 'wake' it. The only way to revive it is to pull the battery and reboot.
Other than the phone being idle (in my pocket, on a table, etc..), I can't seem to find any pattern to it. Here's the changes I've made from stock:
Permarooted, subsidy unlock, and s-off via gfree (-f)
Clockword Recovery 3.0.0.5
Eng Hboot
Flashed new radio
Bacontbits OC Kernel (running 245-1305 ondemand)
CM6.1.1
Launcher Pro
1800MaH EVO battery upgrade
Problem is, I did all of this stuff at once, so I can't pinpoint when the behavior started. Any ideas on what could be causing this? Or even how I might track down what happens just before it goes kaput? I guess I could flash it back to stock and start adding things methodically...but what a pain. Also, I'm so hooked on CM, I don't know if I can ever go back to vanilla froyo! :-D
Thanks!
flash the pershoot kernel and see how that goes
it works p. good for me
*shrug*...can't hurt. No lockups yet. We'll see though.
On a related note, I found a somewhat accepted name for my problem...Sleep of Death. Thanks CM forums!
Pershoot seems to have cleared it up. Dunno why, but thanks!
Does Pershoot have a new kernel out?

[Q] Phone Not Booting After Splash Screen

Good Afternoon,
I flashed my phone with a bunch of stuff a few weeks ago, and it's been running spectacularly, but the past few days, I've been having some issues getting my phone to boot completely. ADW would keep force closing, and my phone would randomly reboot, and I'd sometimes need to battery-pull to restart it from being frozen completely. Also, my volume buttons no longer work, and the screen occasionally goes 4-split screen from the keyboard opening ( I'm assuming flex ribbon ). Now today, after the the splash screen, the phone screen just goes black and stays like that. From reading around, I think I know what the problem is, but I was wondering if anyone more knowledgable could give some insight as well, specifically, if there's any chance it could be a software issue and **crosses fingers** not a hardware issue. I attached what I could get of the adb logcat.
Also, if it helps, here's some info about my phone:
Rooted & S-Off, with newest radio
Rom: nickmcminn60's XM-8 Vr 1.1
Kernel: Miguel's
Mods: darktremor A2SD & ?Firerat's? Custom MTD Partition
Any help or advice would be much appreciated.
1) don't use Miguel's kernel with these latest builds.
2) did you fix permission with rom manager to help with fc's.
3) I don't think this will fix the screen issues, that's is mostly hardware related.

Thanks for the help! I hadn't done fix permissions yet, as last time it somehow broke my rom. Unfortunately, I tried doing a nandroid backup first, yesterday morning before trying fixing permissions, and after my phone finished and rebooted, the phone just froze, and I couldn't reboot into recovery ( my volume buttons don't work ), and after a few reboot attempts, my screen died. I'm going to try ADBing into it tonight if I can.
In case I can get it fixed though, what kernels should I be using instead? I tried drowningchild's, but I seemed to have fewer issues with Miguel's.
Use stock cm kernel when using cm roms if using sense I believe nbetcher has a good kernel

[Q] HELP Flashed new kernel, capacitive hardware buttons stopped working

Hey, I've been a lurker at XDA for a while, flashing away, learning a good deal. I'm no pro, but I wouldn't call myself a total novice either...
I've got Evo hardware version 003, clockworkmod 5.0.0.2 ,
rom is Energy 2.6.2012
Everything was nice, but I decided to try an SBC kernel, so I wiped partition/dalvik, and flashed 4.3.4-445-netarchy-toastmod cfs havs less , waited for it to boot, then noticed that Home, Menu, Back, and Search do not work, or even light up. Volume rocker and power button did work, though. So I'm like, damn, and went to flash htc stock kernel,
then flashed 2.6.32.17-gee557fd htc [email protected] # 15 , but the buttons still don't work. I rebooted a few times, cleared partition/dalvik again, still nothing.
Any suggestions?
just flashed aggressive freedom .9 universal and now the buttons are working again, though not lighting up... which I'm ok with..
But, could anyone tell me what I could have done wrong to cause this?
or provide any kernel recommendations for this particular rom?
and let me know if i'm breaking any rules by this content posting here
The reason you ran into problems is because you flashed the sbc kernel. Sense Sbc kernels were only for sense froyo roms so you flashed a froyo kernel on a gingerbread rom so it broke some things on the rom

Aah! Ok, thank you!

v6 supercharger

I have some issues that I never had before this newest update to V6 Supercharger.... So let me go into some detail here:
I'm running MikG V3.11 on my Evo 4g HW 004. I was using Underworld V.05 SBC Kernel until I ran the new V6 and chose the super UL version of 512 hp. It ran fine, until I rebooted and then the phone would freeze once booted and I'd have to pull the battery every time. So to counter this I flashed my old version of Anthrax and it worked fine so I did some research and found that you can't use any kernel tweaks with Underworld so I tried to turn them off and reflashed Underworld.... ran into phone locks again.
Decided to go with the Super option, I think #5 of 512HP and noticed that I had to manually run each tweak once before they took effect and did their thing during boot. So everything went fine until I tried to Zipallign everything and when it got to around 98%, everything started force closing like Phone, HTC, launcher.... everything that makes the phone work. They would just keep popping up and it rendered the phone unusable. So I rebooted and let it sit for 10 minutes thinking it had to rebuild a list, and it's stuck at HTC screen...
Bottom line, I'm very confused with this new version of V6 and am curious what settings I CAN and CANNOT use on my Evo 4g. I would like to try and use the Super UL setting because it was much faster than the other settings I tried in the OG V6 Supercharger. As well as my Underworld SBC kernel and MikG rom.
If any more information is required, please let me know and I will provide all I can and try to grab screenshots if necessary.

1. Boot into recovery, and fix permissions
2. I would maybe try talking to ca1ne personally about this and/or posting this into the V6 supercharger thread.
3. Flash an old(er) version. Sometimes newer isn't better.
