So Im trying to get an app that is not on the market anymore but my phone will not let me download it. Sometimes my phone lets me download apks and sometimes it doesn't. Is their a way to make it work everytime?
Menu -> Settings -> Applications -> make sure "unknown sources" is checked.
If you still have trouble (like the install doesn't launch right away or it says no application to open this file) try downloading a file manager / explorer and launch the apk from the download folder.

I just noticed this weird thing, when i attempt to install apps out of the market, I open the apk (ES file-xplorer) then the "Do you want to install this application?" screen shows up, then i can't click "Install", but i can click cancel ?! it doesnt give any errors, and i turned off security settings for non-market apps
Using ARHD latest build
EDIT: hard reboot fixed the problem xD
If i use the play store in a browser and navigate to My Android Apps and update an app with an additional file it shows up on my device, but never downloads. I have to touch the app in my notification bar and cancel it. Then click on update again and uncheck the wifi only box.
Is there a way to make it automatically update of 3g/4g without manually having to change this everytime?
Under Market < Settings < Update over Wi-Fi only is unchecked. Other ideas?
Hi everyone, I am looking for a download manager that I can use that has "resume" capababilities...my netowrk connection at work is hit and miss and if I download a large file (such as a rom) sometimes it will get almost completed, but then the connection drops and I have to start all over...a resume function would be great...On that note..I did download "download manager" but it relies on a "http://" address...does anyone know of a download manager that will automatically "grab" the downloads and pull them into the program instead of the "stock download app" without having to type or paste the download url into the download manager?....Hopefully I didnt make this too confusing...thank you....Larry
I'm very curious on this too. I have tried a few download managers but none seem to work.

Android Device Manager is not working on my Nexus 7, unroot.
The help says
1. Open Google Settings from your device’s apps menu.
2. Touch Android Device Manager."
However, there is no ADB on my Google Settings.
Does anyone have an idea what is going on?
Do I have to sign up Google+?
Settings /security /device administrators/android device Manager.

mine says that No available device administrators.

I assume you mean ADM (Android Device Manager), not ADB. If ADM is enabled on your device, it'll show up on the bottom. However, Google Settings are linked to whatever version of Google Play Services you have, and the version enabling the Android Device Manager feature is undergoing a staged rollout. Give it a few days and you should see it come up.
How to set up Android Device Manager:
1. Log into Google Play from a web browser.
2. Click on the Gear (Settings) image on the right.
3. Select Android Device Manager from the drop down list and test it.
4. Select send notification to device.
5. Open notification about ADM on device.
6. Install ADM.
7. This will set up ADM as a Device Administrator and open up settings.
8. Choose your settings. (Location and Remote Wipe)
Now, if you go to Settings > Security > Device Administrators there you will see Android Device Manager.
Done.

After attempting to install a Bank App my phone I get the following error on any app that accesses the Camera.
Allow Open Camera to take pictures and record video?
after selecting allow I get the following:
-------------------------------------------------------
Screen Overlay detected
To change this permission section you first have to turn off the screen overlay from Settings > Apps
Click to collapse
If I attempt to use Cam-Scanner I got
Please go to Settings to enable storage permissionso you can save docs
(Settings apps-camScanner-permissions-storage)
Click to collapse
When I select permissions it says no permissions granted. When I try to turn on storage permissions I get screen overlay message seen above.
I never had this issue before. Is there something going on with my permissions and how do I correct it?
thanks for your help
Go to Settings -> Apps -> 3 dots Configure apps -> Special access -> Draw over other apps
One of the apps listed here is the problem, try to disable one by one until the problem is fixed.

If you are running on marshmallow(6.*) Ignore that, first restart the phone on safe mode and then do what this member said(i had the same problem before nougat) or just give the app permissions while you are in safe mode.
Thanks for the reply.
I appear to be a bit different. 3dot menu has show system, sort by size and Reset app preferences.
Gear menu has Draw over apps. Unfortunately when I select Draw Over apps I find that all of the apps with the exception of a recently installed one are disabled.
My feeling is that I have had some time of File permissions SNFU that pretty much farked everything. At the moment I can not access files on a computer via usb and am not even able to read my SD directly from a computer.
Any suggestions on fixing hosed permissions or other would be extremely helpful.
