Hi all
New here so please be kind and don't swear at me for not searching properly but is there an app or setting that will keep a web page from resizing when browsing from link to link.
Eg While reading a page here on my Desire, I resize the page so i can read it properly but when i click a different link, it resizes back to small, so i have to pinch the screen to enlarge it again.
Is it possible to keep the same size while browsing?
Untick open pages in overview. Its in browser settings.

Thx merc, I would have never found that.
Default Zoom in Settingns changed to "Close" also make the page bigger straight away.
Thx again, great for old farts like me that cant read the screen when it's so small.

1. Use the zoombar to change font size.
2. Yes, HTC will release WinMo 6.5 for TP2 users.

I assume you are talking about the default WinMo Messaging app? The zoombar works as a font-size changer in that app.
Why are you looking in menus for zoombar? The zoombar is the part of your device between the screen and the 4 hardware buttons.
Wow didn't know that.
Just to confirm it does work as a font size changer, but only when focus is on the text editing area at the bottom.
If focus is still in the previous threaded messages then the zoom bar works as a scroll bar.

i wasn't. you told me to look for zoombar. and i figure zooming had to be in the menu bar since thats how it is in alot of applications i use.
on a diff not, i tried to send a text msg like normal and hit the the 4 hardware buttons and it still does not change my font size. the reading pane window where old text msgs are is the area where i want to change the size.

Haha, dude, I think you're losing me.
What's your "normal" way to send a text message? There are several ways: (1) via compose new, (2) via TF3D, (3) via the threaded view of the WinMo Messaging app.
Why are you hitting the 4 hardware buttons to change font size? (Call send, Call end, Windows key, and Back key are not going to help)
What's this "reading pane window" you are referring to?
What I'm trying to say is a picture is worth a thousand words. Going forward, if you want help with troubleshooting, post a screenshot.
But for your case, try this. Go to "Settings" tab in TF3D, tap "All Settings", go to "System" tab, tap "Screen", go to "Text Size" tab, and adjust the setting here.

When a field is "in focus", that just means that it's active or that's where the cursor is. In fairness to HTC, I thought there manual was quite comprehensive. They've put just enough info to get someone who's not familiar with WinMo to be able to use the device.

Well, I don't think they're going to SEND it to you. I'm sure it will be available on you're carrier's site, presuming the carrier releases there version in October.
Hi, i have a question about our Desire's Browser and (due to my poor english language) for explain it i post a link to a video:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qVJhiWlOUAo&feature=player_embedded#!
(sorry, it's in Italian but you can understand what i mean only watching first part of it)
Now, watch the Galaxy S [Iphone doesn't exist for me ], in first test he opens a web page, pinch to zoom and the page only zoom without moving;
the page is
http://www.telefonino.net
and if i do the same on my Desire (zoom in the same point), it zoom ten rearrange all and i don't want it!
Is this function disabled on our Desire? I think it's all better and smooth if it doesn't rearrange everithing everytime i pinch to zoom. Isn't it? What do you think?
Thanks for help,
Andre

I've noticed the same, if there is a workaround, or fix or whatever, i would very much like to hear about it as well.
Found solution
Found a solution:
use this trick:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=8179550#post8179550
then goto settings, scroll down and check "Normal Rendering"; now the browser doesn't rearrange pages everytime you zoom in/out
Sorry if this has been answered, but I did some searches and couldn't find any answers.
Basically, I just moved from the Droid to the DI, and am loving it so far. Sense has really surpassed my expectations (especially after root) - however, there are some frustrating quirks i've noticed.
The biggest one occurs in web browsing. If I tap the address bar, it only automatically selects the page's url after http:/, meaning that I can't search a term without deleting the http, and then typing in my search phrase. I poked around in settings but couldn't find a preference for selecting all text in the address bar.
Has anyone found a way around this? Thanks!
When you tap the address bar, tap the search (magnifying glass) that will delete everything in the box so you can type your search string.
You can just tap the search from anywhere to bring up the search function...that's not part of the browser.
Thanks for the tip. Small thing, but just part of adjusting to the new phone. Loving it!

It is part of the browser. If you look the searched items in the browser will be different from the searched items when you just press the magnifying glass without being in the browser.
Is there a particular way in which IE chooses when and how to zoom on websites? Sometimes it pulls up pages in very good readable sizes, and other times not.
I want to create a page like the one below but with Tiles, similar in shape and size to Wp7
This might help you:

That is great! Thank you.
Another lame question:
I am trying to recreate the homepage of my Samsung Foucs on a webpage. If I use the image sizes in the UI design PDf from MS, it says 173x173 home screen tiles. If I make images this size on a 400 pixel width webpage, the tiles end up a lot larger than my focus homescreens.
Any suggestions for me?
Sincerely,
Newb

Take PPI and resolution into account. If I were you I'd just hold the phone up to the screen and resize until they look about the same size.
Unless you want to do the math.
Hmmm, I see someone is trying to build "sub-tiles" into their phone, where tapping a tile on the homescreen takes you to another page of tiles, all of which can be scrolled and tapped to go further.....am I right? And you're using a webpage to do it, pinning the link to the page to the start screen. So it's a bit like having folders.
If so it's a nice idea.
How to I make the right-hand side bar go away?
Most of the time, it works ok.
But some of the time, it sits on top of forum messages, hiding some of the message text.
Hi,
can you please post a screenshot here to see what's going on for you?
Problems with cutoff messages due to sidebar
Here's a good example. The screen shot's original size was 776KB. The upload program reduced it to 255.5KB. Tell me if there is any problems.

I've never noticed such issue on the website.
Maybe clearing cache and cookies would help. Or try another web browser?
