This is not a costume firmware, it's good, it's fast.

Thanks Ramad... I'm using the pre-rooted & deodexed version of JPJPM... Is this one the original one? I mean non-rooted and not deodexed?
By the way it is still not available on KIES...

This is a leaked original firmware, it's why I did not write that it was a release.
I'm now deodexing this firmware, adding the final touches before adding it to deodexed stock firmware collection.

Do you mind providing the modem file? Cwm preferable but bin file is fine.
Is there a modem repository in this i9000 forum? I know there's one in the captivate forum, just seeing if this is a new or old modem here. Thanks

Flash CF-Root XWJS8 kernel, that will do it.

This Rom has problem when it connects to my bluetooth audio system after sometime it just disconnect !!!

I've not a single problem with this ROM...

Any major performance change in this firmware, Is the browser bug fixed?
How is the overall performance of the firmware compare JSJPG and JS8.
As its new firmware and couple of hours back its Released, Kindly check the battery performance and post the feedback.
Thanks
quadrant score are nearly the same, but whole system seems more responsive when compare to jpg, browser bug not fix
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
Any more feedback as to how this base feels after JS8 or JPG? Makes sense to upgrade?
Swyped from another GALAXY
What about input languages?
input language is the same as jpg
something strange about this firmware:
1. phone get much hotter, I never feel this before. (JPG 41C, JPJ 44C when using xda app)
2. I don't know if this is a feature of xda app or not, I active screen capture function when I am using xda app, and I don't have any screen capture app install
update: same as galaxy tab, it got screen capture feature itself, is this the same for other firmware?

Please beware, the firmware posted at post #1 does include bootloaders.
I'm now uploading the 3 file firmware with no bootloaders.

I was experiencing increased heat on the blackplate around the camera with JS8 and had posted that experience to the thread. Pretty sure I experienced that with an earlier ROM, can't recall which though.

The kernel in this firmware is interesting. It should let us download apps bigger than 30MB (/cache partition) from the Market.

This package does not include Sbl.bin, my opinion is if Download Mode works then don't re-flash it unless you have to.
Ok Downloading

Well if the sbl.bin included in KC1 is newer I would prefer to flash it too. Kies flash it anyways, and I will probably upgrade with kies.

I concur. It would be great if we can get the secondary bootloader also
Well as I said I have it. I can upload the original tar file from kies if some people are interested.
The firmware with Sbl.bin is added, flash at your own risk, I'm not responsible if you brick your phone.
Hello Guys,
I have the GT-I9000M and I recently upgrated my firmware to this version FROYO.UGKC1. I am getting the error message "Warning Camera Failed" everytime i launch the camera app so now I am looking to root my device to fix this. I found many different solutions but they all require for the device to be rooted. I tried rooting my device with the z4root app but it did not work and i am guessing it is because of my firmware version. I am new to rooting but I have read a lot of article about this since then. Can somebody please help me root my device or just find a solution to the camera issue? It would be really appreciated. Thank you!

Your questions was if you should use pit and re-partition, answering by Yes and adding 'please' does not make it 'No'.

Hi folks.
Do you know if this firmware has Brazilian Portuguese language and swype ?
If not, can you tell me the latest firmware for I9000, not I9000B that hast it ?
Thanks a lot.
I think most, if not all Euro ROMs have Portuguese, but from Portugal. These ROMs are the most popular here on XDA. Asian ROMs are popular too.
If you really want Brazilian Portuguese, I think you have no choice but sticking to official i9000B ROMs.
This one is a Canadian ROM and if I remember it has only English and French. Quite a few Swype language but I don't remember seeing anything about Brazil.

I was curious and tried this using Odin, JPZ modem, and gt-p1000_mrpit from Overcome ROM (Thanks!) and it worked and it did not wipe my internal SDcard.
But I can not make the rooting techniques mentioned in a similar thread to work. I'll be searching for some more rooting methods and hopefully there is one which can do it.
I flashed from JQ1 and I like it.
So far, so stable but I did not find any way to root it yet.
Tried CF-Root-TAB7_XX_OXA_JQ1-v3.3-CWM3RFS and DooMLoRD's Easy Rooting Toolkit but no success.
P.S Used Odin 1.7 PDA only and no Re-Patrition.
There are three ways to get this file: download it with CheckFus, download it from a website, and retrieve it from %TEMP% while Kies is updating your phone (if your phone has the right country code). All of the files you get these ways only contain the PDA file P1000XWJQ4_P1000PHNJQ1_P1000XXJQ3_HOME.tar.md5. This file has PHN in the name, but it is missing a PHN CSC. I have tried flashing with PIT and repartition with a TAR.MD5, but that Tab complained about a missing data: partition, which I believe means it's missing dbdata.rfs, which only the CSC seem to have.
Now if you you have country code PHN, and have flashed from JQ1, which is ITV, how do you flash to PHN if you don't have the CSC? Or, how do you get the PHN CSC?
I do have a PHN CSC from JMK, and have used it to do a full restore to stock JMK that is recognised by Kies, and was updated to JQ4 by Kies. Now if Kies doesn't download the CSC, does that mean the JMK CSC can be used for JQ4 as well?
I'd succed to root with this old method :
http://www.addictivetips.com/mobile/how-to-root-samsung-galaxy-tab-on-android-2-3-3-gingerbread
But there a bug with the keyboard.. when i type any letters, there "null" is typing on any software.
Can somebody please check if this ROM contains USB-Host (UTG) mode?
Thanks!
Regards, Juergen
I've updated my 2.2 JMK to this 2.3.5 with Kies, and there's definitely no problem whatsoever with the keyboard. That said, I had the same null error too after I'd flashed the South African XFM JQ3 2.3.5, and others as well. Someone said the solution was to flash again, but this time with the PIT file and repartition. That worked beautifully with XFM (I had the same error, and flashing again worked), and it may work here as well (though I haven't tried it, because I didn't need it).

Juergen, I'll do the USB Host mode check if you can tell me what or how to check.

I just deleted .md5 extension and flashed it like .tar
Differences I found: new unlock screen no flip animation and...a bit smooth sliding.
I have the rom "zipped" with SU ready, hopefully will be able to share that tonigh

Updated! Here's how to do it:
0. Download PHN directly from Sammy server using Check Fus Downloader;
1. Unpack it and flash the *.tar.md5 file using the PDA option in Odin;
2. Apply the CF-Root JQ1 (as mentioned by @Thol), using the PDA option too;
3. Install Superuser (by ChainsDD) from the Market, if you don't have it yet or have wiped before flashing;
4. Install a file manager (e.g.: Root Explorer), if you don't have it yet or have wiped before flashing;
5. Make some room, 'cause we're running out of memory (delete the annoying /system/etc/Power_On.ogg and /system/media/bootani.qmg);
6. Update su via Superuser (Menu >> Preferences >> Su binary));
7. Extract the file zImage from the file you downloaded from Sammy server;
8. Create a new tar with that file (zImage);
9. Flash it through PDA option in Odin;
A. At this point, you have just lost Busybox, but you can install the latest version using Busybox Installer (Market).
You're done! Stock firmware, original kernel, root access and the latest version of Busybox (if you want it) !!! There is another way to do all that, but the steps above are the easiest ones for an intermediate user so far.
Cheers!!!
PS - No CSCs in this version other than PHN which includes Vodafone NL, NL Telfort, T-Mobile NL & NL KPN, but since we have a bunch of languages in it, many European CSC can be added (no need, but...).
Does anyone have a changelog on jq4?
Whats new or updated?

Rooting
I have installed this JQ4 ROM with no problems but cannot root it even with the methods already described in this thread.
The DooMLoRD method gives all the right indications (or at least the same as when I had the JQ1 stock ROM which rooted OK), but doesn't actually root it.
Using the CF-Root method, i end up with a WiFi connection that doesn't work (remains 'obtaining IP' forever and no root access.
Any clues as to what isn't working???
Model: GT-P1000
Firmware Version: 2.3.5
Baseband Version: P1000XXJQ3
Kernel Version: 2.6.35.7
[email protected] #2
Build Number: GINGERBREAD.XWJQ4
Cheers
Dave
UPDATE:
Thanks to $omator I have now rooted using his modified DooMLoRD method.
Problem was a full System folder.
Use $omator's method here http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...php?p=19033230
but you will need to edit his runme.bat file to change the name of the animation and sound file for your Tab which you will need a suitable file explorer to look into the system folder (I use Root Browser from the Market)
All then rooted and even has the latest SuperUser version.
Hope this helps someone
Dave

why not just download it directly from my host? no dealing with hotfile's slow speeds and wait times :/
EDIT:
whoops learned my lesson down below XD
I'm currently on the latest stock update. No root.
Can I just put this on my SD card and do that update.zip thing? Or do I need to use that weird program. Still new to this. Got my Epic Touch less than 2weeeks ago (in white <3)

It does have su permissions...just no wifi/3g/4g...basically no way to get online. Thus su permissions is pointless. Also the rooted flashable one over at acs doesn't boot up at all. Guess we gotta wait until morning for a working rooted version lol

Will post a superuser zip tonight.
DO NOT FLASH YET IF YOU NEED ROOT!
I really want to try it, but i am affraid of bricking my device!
I'm literally on the other side of the world right now and cannot afford to take the risk. And I've got the Rogers' version, so it might backfire if it does some kind of strict device ID checking(even if there is no hardware difference!).
I can say the download seems legit/safe. No viruses and when you run it you get an Odin-like interface! So excited, wish I could take the plunge...!
HELL YEAH!
Tested working so far:
- GSM Network (Germany)
- Edge
- Wifi
- Camera
- Audio
See this thread for a full list of the things i've tested so far: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=30184848&postcount=17
