[Q] CM6.1 stuck on HTC screen. Recovery too. Help? - Desire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all,
Please help!
My Desire is stuck on the white HTC logo screen when I boot and when I go into recovery (Clockwork Mod recovery).
I got into this trouble when using OsmAnd 0.5.1 and it reboooted on me a few times. Each time it would reboot normally, I would restart OsmAnd and it would reboot after a little while. So I (stupidly) started OsmAnd for about the 4th time, the phone rebooted and now won't come out of the HTC white logo.
I have Cyanogen 6.1 (stable), CM Recovery.
Fastboot info is:

What do I need to do to get beyond the white screen? I have tried to rename the CyanogenMod to update.zip but since i can't get into Recovery, this seems pointless.
Thanks,
gretch

Probably to make things easier, you could just use an ruu so it returns to stock, root again and then flash another rom. Might be quicker than actually trying to solve the problem.

I had a similar problem wen I first rooted my desire, I was stuck on the boot unpack screen & wo'dnt go any further. I basically started the hole unrevoke3...
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App

[Q] Desire Touchscreen problem

Hi I am having a few problems with my desire. It is rooted with a custom froyo rom.
Basically the phone reset itself then took a very long time to reboot when it did finally boot it is reporting the battery is empty (it is not, I swapped my girlfriends battery) on fast boot it says TOUCH PANEL - fail, the touch screen does not work.
I had clockworkmod recovery that disappeared and instead went to a black screen with coloured vertical lines.
I have managed to re flash a stock ruu and that has let me get back into recovery - takes a while but the touch screen issue and the empty battery and very slow boot are still there.
any suggestions
Thanks
I get this in the bootloader screen, if it helps

Seems like it needs to get repaired. Ring your carrier or HTC up and see what they say to you.
Thanks for the reply, but it was an orange phone which I have debranded and rooted so i think the warranty is out of the question. Maybe its a hardware fault?
That is what I was referring to. If you can get an RUU to install to reset it back to default (if you can) then you can just send it to HTC if you want. But either way, it does need repairing.

[Q] Still looking for a solution

Right first things first
my desire was having the random reboot problem after updating to 2.2 then it turned off and now wont boot up at all.
it is stuck on the htc logo, and wont enter recovery either
I can go into Boot loader and Fast boot to flash Ruu's and pb99img.zip files
And they complete successfully but the phone still goes back to the Htc logo
I have the Hboot drivers installed, android Sdk installed but cant recognize because cant enable debugging because i can't get into the android os.
The phone is unbranded but i don't have any back ups for it .
Also made a gold card and flashed stock Rom but still back to the Htc logo it goes.
Any help would be very appreciated i have read and read the forums for days but cant seem to find the exact problem and solution.
Also software version is 2.29.405.5

when it reboot does it vibrate 5-7 times sometimes ??
still looking for a solution
No does not vibrate at all just stays on Htc logo, and stays on that the screen goes blank for a second or 2 then back to the Htc logo till i pull the battery ,goes to H-boot with vol - and power button and thats about it,
Did you make sure you had a "gold card" before flashing?
Flash to an unbranded ROM, 2.29 Froyo
Did you wipe your cache memories, including devalc, and user data before flashing?
If you didn't do so before, you will be stuck.
Sorry, but maybe the gold card was not good.
yeah used the Goldcard , i cannot wipe the cache though because cant get into recovery, when i select it it just goes back to Htc logo.
have you given the freezer idea a try..?
it might be because of the cpu/motherboard over heat issue
Yeah tried it in the freezer for about ten mins no luck.

[Q] desire wont boot no recovery either

I have a Htc desire that was rebooting at random times and then one day it rebooted but got stuck on the Htc screen.
I can get into fast boot but not recovery whenever i select recovery it goes back to the htc screen and hangs there forever.
It is recognized in device manager, all the correct drivers are installed,i have a gold card also.
I have tried a pb99img.zip, and a ruu both completing successfully but still going back to htc screen.
The phone is not rooted,i am totally stuck as to what to do next because most of the methods i have read about require being rooted or having debugging enabled, and i cant do these steps because of the phone being stuck at the Htc logo.
not to sound to desperate but i really want my phone working again.

Where am I going wrong??

OK I give up, I have been trying to sort my wife's phone out, I successfully rooted it a few months back and installed one of the Runnymede roms, but she had been experiencing some problems e.g phone crashing, losing signal and so on
I decided to put a newer rom on the phone to try and solve the problems.
But now it seems that the phone is knackered, I started off by trying to install a new rom but when it came to booting it up, it crashed (left it for 30 mins) so tried again and the same result, tried several other roms to no avail. I have changed the HBoot from Bravo stock to Alpharev CR7 r2, installed the latest radio still no joy.
The HBoot is showing
Alpharev CR7 r2
BRAVO PVT3 SHIP S-OFF
HBOOT-6.93.1002
MICROP-051d
TOUCH PANEL-SYNT0101
RADIO-5.17.05.23
currently installed is Runnymede AIO 4.0.3 SE also the SD has been partitioned with 1.01gb on SD-EXT (ext4) and just under 7gb on the main partition.
The phone will install and boot up for the first time and then close down after the main screen has been shown and go into a either a bootloop getting as far as the main screen or the HTC boot screen or it will hang on the HTC screen.
Obviously I have gone wrong somewhere but I dont know where.
Can anyone help as the phone is now useless.
I can get to HBoot and I can get into Recovery and my pc does see the phone on fastboot and when I mount items when in recovery.
Flash 2.3.3 RUU. If problems persists, call HTC.
sort now thanks, left it on charge for ages to sort itself out and now seems to be working perfectly.

[Q] Downgrade to RUU went wrong

I've got a Desire that was rooted years ago and I was running Evervolv.
I now need to sell my phone and have tried to download to the original RUU.
I used RUU_Bravo_HTC_WWE_1.21.405.2_Radio_32.36.00.28U_4.06.00.02_2_release_126984_signed
The downgrade seem to go through fine, no errors, but now when I reboot my phone I get the HTC logo and then the startup sound. The screen is then black with a thin white bar at the botton and on the sides.
If I reboot and hold down the vol I get:
AlphaRev
BRAVO pvt3 ship s-off
hboot-6.93.1002
Microp-051d
touch panel-synt0101
Radio-4.06.00.02_2
Then if I try and go into recovery mode I get a black screen with thin white vertical bars on the side.
Hope I can recover from this - but am now sure how

Thanks, but how do I flash that if I can't boot the phone, or can't get into recovery?
Update: Scratch that - I booted the phone normally, even though the screen is blank it still lets me flash it. Trying it now and will let you know.
Update1: Brilliant - that did the trick! Thanks a ton.
Sheesh - is that what 2.3.3 used to look like. Its come such a long way!
