Is there any working gamepad, bluetooth or wired for matter that works properly..?
I've been into this for several days and as I understand proprietary Samsung bt hardware blocks all possibilities of properly using any bt gamepad out there including the wiimote, which works only with the Cyanrom but its too buggy to even try it..
I dont know how an adapter from microUSB to miniUSB would work, like for example to use it with a generic PS3 controller or something of the sort..
Playing any emulator from the touchscreen actually kills it..
there are no wired controllers. the usb cannot be used as host on the captivate.
as for wireless controllers USE THE SEARCH OR GOOGLE,
there are several threads on it. Also they are not phone specific, so google....

Alright, I've been lurking forever for Windows Mobile stuff, but I just got an Adam.
I was trying to figure out if there was anyway to use a USB gamepad with the adam, and found an app named "Gamepad IME"
Apparently it works with pretty much every program I want it for. However, as the Adam has no market access, I can't find it anywhere. I don't have an android phone, so I can't rip the APK that way, and I can't find the APK anywhere on the net.
If anyone can get the APK for that app and post it here, that'd be fantastic.
First result for it when googling is the androlib page for it.
Update 2/2/11:
Ok, So I picked up one of these:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16826179017
Which is a HID compliant gamepad. It's still not detected, I'm wondering if there's a compatability issue with the adam and the GamePad IME
Sven, the developer, has the source code up on his website: http://sven.killig.de/android/N1/2.2/usb_host/
Any intrepid coders care to look at it and see if there's any way to get it to function with the adam?
Here you go. I hope this will work, good luck!
You are fantastic. Thank you greatly.
Sadly, it seems that my USB gamepad(Which is just a PS3 usb adapter) doesn't function. I'll see if I can dig up any other USB gamepads that show up as general gamepads without drivers, and see if they work.
Anyone test the below
Xbox 360 usb controller
Wii controller via bluetooth
Ps3 controller via bluetooth
Sent from my T-Mobile G2 using XDA App
Tested PS3 controller via bluetooth, doesn't get detected when attempting to pair.
It seems the PS3 only enables pairing mode via usb through supported devices.
I don't own either of the others to test with, sadly.
I've tried a random PC gamepad and the xbox 360 usb controller but no luck here.

I wonder what it would take to get the 360 controller detected via usb.. would we need to compile drivers from windows or how would that work?

Love to see the Wireless 360 adapter for wireless 360 controllers.
Or even a PS3 controller via bluetooth should be achievable given the right devs who can look at the Windows Mobile app. I think it pairs via usb too.

What was that gamepad ime apk originally designed for? I can test the xbox 360 controller when I get back home with that gamepad apk.
sent from gv1.5 on g2
It was originally designed for the Nexus S, but I don't know what controllers it was designed for.
Today I scored two PS3 controllers at a pawn shop for $25. I just tried hooking them up to my XOOM with a USB hub, and the system recognizes both of them. Cool. So, I pop open Mario Kart and test out two player mode.
In the SNESoid settings, there is an option for a second gamepad. I mapped the buttons to one PS3 controller to the first pad, and the other to the second, however, they both seem to want to control player one and two at the same time.
So, has anyone been able to set this up correctly?
No one's tried to play multiplayer with a hub?
Sent from my Xoom using XDA App
sorry I can't help with your question, but I was wondering what cable you use to connect a single ps3 controller and what software you need (drivers, etc.) Thanks.
I haven't tried to use a hub and a multiplayer game but i will try tomorrow and get back to you. But my otg host cable of choice is this one. I didn't need any special software, just an emulator and some roms to play. Just make sure you map all the buttons on the emulator.
Yeah, it doesn't work: the USB drivers map controller presses to keyboard input (including the analog stick). Therefore though honeycomb recognizes both devices, the output from them looks exactly the same from an app perspective: just keyboard presses. Same thing goes for using a PS3 controller with an Xbox controller. Best thing to do is wait for wiimotecontroller to support PS3 controllers via Bluetooth or mix in wiimotecontrollers.
That's what I thought.
I even looked online to see if there was a way to hack a PS3 controller to make it output different keys. For example, instead of making the directional pad use the up, down, left and right keys, totally remap it to use something like H, J, K and L etc. Unfortunately, this is impossible.
We need a Playstation 3 bluetooth app like what Wii controllers have.
I've been reading that the new Transformer Prime supports Xbox controllers. I'm rooted with Overcome 2.something and want to know if I have this ability already. I also read that people have been using a USB dongle that Microsoft sells but I'd like something that is already built in to work. I also have a PS3 controller if that'll work, although I prefer the Xbox controller.
HDMI out and an Xbox controller = big screen NES!!!
since the xbox wireless controller uses a custom wireless protocoll, you can't use it without the dongle. You can use a wired xbox controller though.
I also prefer the xbox controller, but the PS3 controller is better suited for this. Since the PS3 controller uses bluetooth, you can buy a app on the market called "Sixaxis Controller", which allows you to use a PS3 controller over bluetooth with the tab. It's really awesome
EDIT: I also fine the PS3 controller better suited for emulation, because the dpad is in a better position for this.
is there anyway to do this without root? i read somewhere in 3.2 reenabled controller support for 10.1 i have a stock tablet and don't want to root unless i really really need to.
So, just to check, will the Xbox wireless receiver USB dongle work with the tab?

Wondering the same thing. I tried to connect the dongle to my Tab but my controller wouldn't connect to it (just flashed the green light, searching but no connection it seemed).
Is there a way to make the Xbox360 controller work if you connect the dongle to the Tab (or without it for all I care, just want it to work )
I just bought the 30 pin to USB and so far haven't been able to get a wired 360 controller to work but I am running stock so that might be the problem... If I were to root and get like 3.2 or something would this work?

You would need pershoot's kernel with the appropriate modules.

Which modules are the appropriate ones?
I feel like an idiot, asked this same questions (what do which modules do?) 3 or 4 times now, never got an answer... :S
http://www.androidpolice.com/2011/0...oller-support-on-the-samsung-galaxy-tab-10-1/
I just did this, although I haven't tried it yet. Not sure what they show up as when connected though? Going to test it right now
Edit: Blah, the only wired 360 controller I have is a third party one, it showed up but I'm not sure how to use it. I tried the "USB/BT joystick center" app and it wanted me to make a driver by selecting bits of input data directly .
Re: Big NES if XBOX controller works.
Pick up a WII controller - cheaper and closer to the old school NES experience )
Has anyone bought this:
http://www.onlive.com/controller
I want to know if this works in emulators and such, and not just OnLive.
I've tried a PS3 controller connected via sixaxis, and it doesnt work in Onlive. I might consider this if it worked in onlive and emulators.
I'm not certain about the OnLive controller, but in the faq at OnLives site there is this...
---------------------
Can I use a controller with the OnLive Game Service?
Yes. The controllers currently supported are:
•OnLive Wireless Controller (OnLive Game System only)
•Microsoft® Xbox 360® Controller for Windows
•Microsoft Xbox 360 Wireless Controller for Windows (requires the Microsoft Wireless Gaming Receiver)
•Logitech® ChillStream™
•Logitech® F510
•Saitek® P3200 Rumble Pad
•Mad Catz® GamePad
----------------------
Not sure because I've not tried. But I would guess that one or more of those will do what you are asking.
That said I would like to know the answer to your question as well. Looks like a great controller.
I do have this controller, but I do not have any hd dock or lapdock to test it out for you
He wants to know if OnLive's Universal Controller will work with any of the emulators on his phone, such as SNESoid, NESoid, MAMEoid, and so forth. Sixaxias Controller is an app that lets you connect and use a PS3 controller on your Android device.
I had the same issues with Sixaxis Controller and Wiimote Controller with OnLive. I think this is because both of those are mapping functions to some kind of keyboard function, whereas OnLive's app does not any any keyboard function build into it to use native keyboard. I was able to do limited stuff such as play the "getting started" video because one of the buttons acted like the "s" button on a keyboard.
I have preorder the controller, but I order after they changed the estimated shipping date to the 20th. I don't know if any controllers have been shipped yet. I have heard of some people being able to connect a Xbox 360 controller to their phone with USB adapter for the wireless dongle; so in theory, you may be able to use it with the phone.
Bump, looking for the same thing, anyone tested the controller with GTA3/emulators/etc? Does Bluez IME work?
There's a thread in the Flyer/View forum where a member states that it does work with emulators. I believe that HC 3.2+ is required for tablets and ICS for phones in order for it to work, though.
Has anyone been able to use the sixaxis controller simply by just plugging it in with a usb otg or is it still more complicated than that? Do you still need the sixaxis app for it to work correctly?
I'm also curious to know this
I was only able to pair the controller via otg cable and the app. That's better than always reconnecting the controller with my PC when I played on my PS3 before.
Is playing via bluetooth not a possibility for you?
Shadowgun is working fine for me with bluetooth. I don't like it when cables are hanging around and it's better when I play on my TV via MHL.
I just tried the new function of the sixaxis app which emulates the onscreen controls in Nova 2. That was still buggy for me, only moving worked.
