P3600i rom question

Rom versions have these format
x.xx.xxx.xx
where x is a digit. If the first "x" is bigger, does it mean it its a newer (more updated version)
Cuz my device is currently
ROM version: 3.00.707.17
Rome Date: 06/29/07
Radio Version: 1.46.00.11
Protocol Version 32.79.7020.19H
and on HTC's site i see this
Dopod D810 Rom Code Update (1.17.707.3)
the code seems to be smaller digits than mine, which i would presume it means its an older version.
But then the date of the post is 9/12/2007 which is later than my June rom.
So, shud i update?
Also, its a d810 rom, anyone can confirm it works just fine with p3600i?
Whats the update or changes if the rom stated there on HTC site is newer? i cant seem to find it on their site, cuz i'm only most concerned about the A2DP ms stack probs

1.17.707.3
The last number is not the build ! in this case i dont know what the last number stands for
major release = complete code rewrite
minor release = new functions
patch level = bugfixes

ah i see i see. great info and thanks dude. but i'm surprised. i've got a major release "3" and the site is still offering "1". how come they aint got "3" to download?

other manufacturer other names.

WM2003 = 1
WM5 = 2
WM6 = 3?
I dont know. The version description i posted above is the official version of name a version. So dpod maybe have their own.
What ive posted should only be a clue

lol, my current pda is 17 so its not the os year for sure.
so, based on your assumptions, wud u say tat my pda rom's newer or not? (pda says june, htc accouncement's rom update was dated sept)

I'm not convinced the "patch level" is purely that. Maybe for the first digit, but I'm sure it also identifies which network/region the code was built for. So a higher number isn't necessarily newer or better, it could be just for a different region.

what about the "major release" number? mine's a 3 the site's a 1

HTC P3452 beta test period of this software release

Hi all
My brother bring me from China as a gift the htc touch (P3452).
First of all I don't know if it is genuine or clone; how I can find out;
Second when I setup the time and the date the phone show me a white screen with this message.
"This concludes the beta test period of this software release.Thank you very much for your time and effort in helping make this a great product for our customers.
To obtain a newer release or further information, please revisit the web site that you use to obtain your current beta release."
The phone now is off. I cant do anything with phone. I always get this message. How I can pass it.
Please help.

Tilt sound problem

I just got back from a store my phone they unlocked it
but i have noticed that they changed this information
my old information :

the problem im having is anyone calls me or my ringtone
i click vibrate it wont virate or ring ?
or when i call or sumone calls me i pick up there is no sound at all ?

htc mozart german T-mobile rom

Hello there i am new here ! I have just bought this HTC, i unlocked it and i used adv. config....but when i updated to version 7392 my phone locked again....what rom can i use ? it is from T- mobile and i want to be the same originall rom if it could be.

i find the rom but now the first update is running for 1:30 hours and still dont finish...

Windows phone 7.8 to 7.5

Is it possible to downgrade my HTC MOZART now updated to 7.8 again to 7.5 because 7.8 is really ugly on my phone, I reinstalled my PC so I do not have back up on my Zune. Thanks

I believe you just need to downgrade/switch to SPL and install 7.5 as usually.

I think you can download and install Original ROM with older version. It works on my HTC Titan, i think it should also work on Mozart.

why every time when I give my info everybody stops talking and nobody is tellinme what to install ... ? :'(

I know if you installed the update through zune you can revert back to 7.5
I did this through zune to my mozart as it slowed down the phone launching apps off the homescreen... 7.8 slowed down my HD7 aswell...
In zune, go to where you update/check for updates and choose to revert back to previous...

I reinstalled my PC and don't have the backup(revert) in zune
