New HTC-Specific-Update - Windows Phone 7 General

(Hope this thread doesn't exist already!)
When I was about to continue with my app, I noticed the "New Update"-Message on my HTC Trophy and then started updating it.
Zune said it's the HTC-Update (look at attachment (sorry but I'm german )).
Currently I have NoDo on my phone, so I'm curious whether someone else had this HTC-specific Update.
The Phone is still updating.
Will keep you updated!

EDIT2: Fully updated, couldn't see any differences at all.
OS-Version: 7.0.7390.0
Firmware-Version: 2250.09.12000.401
Hardware-Revision-Number: 0003
BootLoaderVersion: 1.20.2250.0(117833)

No update for german HTC Mozart in any way yet. Not the pre-NoDo, neither NoDo itself

Today I got the same message, when I connected my HTC 7 Pro to my computer, I haven't installed it yet. Does anyone knows what it changes?
Yesterday I updated my phone to NoDo with the hack and I'm hoping it has nothing to do with that I just asked the guys on facebook, what this update is about, hopefully they know something.

I've already created a topic like this. Yes, I received that too with my Trophy 7. Nothing changed. At least, I didn't noticed.

Vodafone HTC Trophy and no update here.

Yeah, but why then bring out an extra update for that, when nothing changes? Seems a bit silly to me

Could be a fix to the caller id bug:
h**p://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/winphone/forum/wp7-wppeople/htc-trophy-caller-id-problem/90c3b4d2-b558-4e6e-aa91-2530285f302f
(apparently xda doesn't allow me to post urls yet so replace the ** with tt)
But I dunno, haven't gotten the update myself yet so can't test it out.

A lot of people were reporting gradient issues they noticed after installing the nodo update on their HTC devices. Maybe that was the fix for it? I for one don't have any gradient issues anymore.

No updatr for me.

Haven't gotten a notification for any sort of HTC update yet. Using an HTC Surround, dev-unlocked and unbranded. On NoDo, did not use Chevron's WP7 Updater.

SFR france HTC trophy, just got NODO and the HTC update in a single update.
I didn't have NODO yet, the update message came this morning. I found it a bit strange that it was branded as an "HTC update" but didn't think much of it.
The update took a while, but it did install NODO and the HTC update at the same time.

so who got the bing voice search feature in us or uk?
phone, region, firmware, bootloader please xD

i have not seen any update after my NODO... HD7 unbranded...

Unbranded HD7, no update.
It took about 2 days for the NoDo update to reach me..

sent my xda 2 to o2(uk) for repairs, returned UK Rom 1.66

This, I assume, is the very latest UK rom, I had 1.60 before that. Getting the machine tomorrow, will post exact rom then, however I do not know how to copy it and send it you guys, can anyone explain in the simplest term how to do this? I have XP, Thanks
out of interest, what was wrong with the XDAII?
Reply
it would freeze and only a hard reset could fix this when connected to a Socket SDIO card, this would happen every 3 or 4 days.

If it's arriving tomorow, how do you already know it's 1.66 mate?
And just for interest, I seem to recall that the GERMAN version of the O2 ROM was just released last week at 1.66 - I wonder if this is a version of this for a UK market, or if O2 are about to release 1.66 over here too.
Anyone know how he can 'reverse assemble' it from his device so he can share it?
i had the same freezing issues but my device was 1.66
but i'm pretty sure that the freezing was due to a 3th party program
been awhile since it froze last
and i doubt it could be a hardware issue since hardreset always works
Mikey Collins - keep us posted on the outcome when it arrives please...
What program caused the crashing ? PocketWinc?
And I know it is coming with 1.66 because I called them. Any idea what sort of programs could have caused this?

What sort of programs could have caused this? The new upgrade you mean or the re-flash?
Could be a number of things mate, though usually a hard reset will cure all your woes.
Let us know what the actual real numbers are, for your ROM, extended ROM etc, when it actually arrives, as what O2 say on the phone, and what happens in real life, are noted for how far apart they tend to be where O2 is concerened.
And there will be an awful lot of people interested in your info, so keep us posted.

I emailed O2 Data Support about this, to see when or if they were intending to release 1.66.
This is my reply back from them:
Hello Mr xxxxxxx,
Thank you for your email,
After querying this with our technical team, we would like you to provide
evidence of the Rom 1.66 occurring, as we believe this not to be the case.
If you are experiencing problems with your XDA, you can replace the device
under warranty via your customer services team.s
Regards,
Paul
O2 Data Support UK
So can you give us some more info, or reply to me off board Mikey? As I suspect it is YOU that is correct, and O2 wrong, and would like to challenge them over this.

It was the technical service team that updated my phone, they warned me about Data Support.... and now you see
new rom?
Sounds good if you are right, and yes i am as critical about o2 as the rest of you, but ive found that there is an easyish way to get through to o2 on the fones if u need sumthing, call their staff accounts people on
0800131211
and since its freefone (in the uk @ least, i guess they have this sorta service elsewhere) it dont matter how long ur on the fone with them.
neway, will it be possible to upload the rom to the site?
Smiley
They are all shipping with 1.66 now
my girlfriend just got a new xd2, same OM as mine.
My xda2 which I am selling on this site also came with the new rom after they replaced the motherboard. I dont know if its me but the screen seems so much better, on a par now with the ipaq 3900 series, bright, clear, good depth of colour etc. Its for sale in the stocking up section of this site if anybody is interested. £350 Uk.
I just purchased an XDA II yesterday, and it also came with ROM version 1.66.00WWE (Incidently, the ROM date shows as 20th Feb 04)

I repeatedly Emailed O2 about this, and eventually there response was that more recent versions of the XDA2 ship with a slightly different screen (hardware wise).
New drivers are needed for this, and this is the ONLY difference in 1.66, which is not available for public download.
I emailed them back to tell them what a load of old cobblers, and that it includes a Cleartype tuner and more.
They went decidedly quiet at that point.
Any chance that O2 have fixed the Handsfree dll problem in Version 1.66? Can you get mp3 / Tom tom audio etc. to come out of the bottom connector? (Many people have a problem with the XDA II that they can only get Phone call audio to go to the bottom connector, even though the T-Mobile ROM's apparently don't have this problem.)
You can use a tool provided free on this site in the tools and software section to download your ROM to an SD card, and I assume that it can also download it to your PC.
I'm by no-means an expert, but I've had a go at fiddling with it so far and this is what I've found...
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/wiki/CompleteTools
Follow the XDA Tools link and download the program, tell it to read the ROM from the device and Put it on your PC, then you can post it here.
I know this program worked with flashing the ROM from my XDA, never tried it with an XDA II though, although I will try it when I get home tomorrow.
There were a couple of more difficult to use tools provided for the XDA II that need you to log into the 'Bootloader' on the device using a command prompt (Like DOS) style program providxed by HTC (the manufacturers of the XDA and XDA II) but I can't remember where they were and I'm using my girlfriends crappy tinternet connection at the moment and can't be bothered to search the site. I'll have a more detailed set of instructions posted asap if I can find out how to do it all over the weekend.
Other than that, if anyone else can post details of how to do it, I'd be very grateful cos it all seems a lot more complicated with the XDA II to change the ROM than it was with the XDA.
Cheers,
Rom version 1.66.00 wwe
Guys be vvvvv careful when messing with this rom. If you attempt to update it to sort out the caller photograph recognition bugs you are in for a shock. Now you may already now which versions are the "older" versions but I did not and updated with the current official update from the O2 site. My XDA2 is now a one week old doorstop. Any suggestions anybody. I did back up to my SD card before the update but do not have a card reader...............yet!

Froyo update rolling out this week(end)

The ROM is now available, download.
----
The update is now confirmed and it will be available this weekend:
The Android 2.2 (FroYo) update for HTC Desire will start rolling out across Europe this weekend. As well as including the complete set of Android 2.2 features, the update will contain a few special additions of our own through the latest iteration of HTC Sense. The update will provide 720p video capture, HTC's App Share widget, as well as our enhanced HTC Caller ID, and improved multi-language keyboard. Also, through the update, HTC Sync will allow HTC Desire users to sync their music with iTunes.
HTC Desire users will be notified that the over-the-air update is available to download when their phone automatically checks for software updates. The update won't delete any of the phone's content. However, due to the size of the update, we would advise using a WiFi connection to download it wherever possible to avoid additional data charges.
This update will initially roll out to unlocked HTC Desire handsets. Operator specific versions of the update are undergoing testing and we expect to make them available in several weeks' time.

As seen in this news item on the dutch site Tweakers.net, Mark Moons (HTC Director Benelux) says that the froyo update for the Desire will begin to roll out this thursday (tomorrow).
I think this news update is very reliable as Mark Moons also tweeted it "We will start updating the Desire to 2.2 tomorrow, later more devices".
What do you think?
Read the same thing, I am hopeful.
However called the support line and they did not have official release date yet, but then again what do they know.
(i was actually the person which pointed them to the twitter feed)
I think we can assume Mark Moons wouldn't **** us about a Froyo roll out. I have to say they did it quite speedy.

Yeah! Just saw it as well (lol, 3 dutchies in 1 forum).
I'm looking forward to this week.
any guesses how many threads we can get going with the same thing?
Omg dutch people only thread =D

but yeah, it's on apparently, at least for the cloggies!

that would be really nice news, so it would be awesome if you guys could report, if thats true.
hope in germany we're going to get it too
i'm from belgium but i speak dutch to so i want to say to i'm really happy, maybe im going back to the official rom
Wont be shocking for us flashers whove seen froyo before.but its nice to have the official update released.
He just posted a new message:
.Veel (o.a.) Tweakers kijken uit naar 2.2 met extra aandacht voor een specifieke feature.... maar 1 belangrijke wordt niet genoemd! rara...
(many (among others) Tweakers (dutch tech website) are looking forward to 2.2 with extra attention to a specific function (from replies on tweakers.net i deduce the a2sd function).....but 1 important one is not mentioned! who can guess it...
I'm guessing 720P recording.
It is now also posted on the official HTC NL twitter page:
http://twitter.com/HTC_NL
yes it´s comming....
even if the official 2.2 one will be released tomorrow, I will still wait for a custom one with A2SD+!
sorry i don't understand what you mean with A2SD+??? i thought this is a built-in feature of froyo? or do you mean something different?
it would be great if froyo would come tomorrow... i thought of rooting my desire this week, but now i will wait to see if froyo is officially coming to the desire
A2SD+ is a script that can install ALL apps to the SD-card on a new partition. Froyo can move and install all the apps to a seperate folder on your SD when the developer stated so.
Will Desire update by it self? i mean all i need is wifi turned on and check for updates in About Phone section?

IMHO with froyo you could do it yourself with official ROM:

Probably, it will be an over-the-air update and it will roll out over a few days because of bandwidth limits.
Personally i would advise anyone using debranded phones to use their gold cards when doing any possible OTA updates to avoid the problems experienced with the last OTA update!

[Q] date format wrong after ota 2.2

hi there,
i've got a little problem with the date format in android since the update.
in several apps (agenda widget, astrid tasks) the date is not shown as in android's preferences anymore: instead of "Mon, 31 Dec 2010", it shows something like "2, 2010 12 31" where the first 2 is supposed to mean monday.
i would blame the app for it, but since it appears in 2 apps and before the update everything was fine, i wonder why it shows this now.
i've got a little suspicion: before the update i installed the wwe rom version to unbrand my phone (t-mobile germany), maybe it's because of that? no chance to change the rom now (maybe to the europe edition of the rom), as the bootloader doesn't let me install any other rom, it seems.
anyone else with this problem? any ideas? it's not the biggest problem in the world, but every day it annoys me more and more... :-(
thanks!
I've also noticed this with the following apps:
Deluxe Moon
wetter.info
Since not all apps have this problem I would say it is a problem of the app and not of the ROM or Froyo itself.
And we are not alone:
http://getsatisfaction.com/todoroo/topics/day_name_replaced_by_day_number_after_upgrade_to_froyo
I've just noticed that it seems to be a language problem. After switching from German to English (UK) and restarting the device it seems to be fixed...
I have the same problem but i'm french. I made the manip but it did not work. when the phone is in english it works but when I will return to French it does not work anymore even by rebooting the phone.
Some here,
after updating my HTC Desire with the official distribution of Android 2.2 by HTC.
with the italian setting language.
I have the same problem and I think it affects all apps. They may appear to be fine in some apps though until you do something that causes them to be redrawn/updated.
I've noticed it in the following apps: Springpad and Shazam. This problem didn't occur until I upgraded to 2.2.
It happens with my native language (Norwegian) as well as Swedish and Danish. Setting it to English seems to resolve it for now.
Sent an email to HTC support a few minutes ago explaining the problem.
Same here, Czech language. Every 3rd party software was affected. But for example Jorte got updated and it is again showing correct day name instead of its number.
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
Received a response from HTC today. They claim that it's a problem with the app itself, and that it's up to the app developers to fix it so that it works properly on 2.2.
I'm sure its not an application issue, every app that uses SimpleDateFormat for formatting dates is broken, in an froyo emulator all is fine, on the desire it only works if English language is selected.
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
And what is with Froyo on the Nexus One. I've never heard from a date problem from the N1 people.
Does anybody here have access to a N1 with Froyo and can test it?

Orange UK Froyo 2.2 upgrade date released

I'm an HTC Desire owner and have been waiting and waiting for Orange to offer up a date when users can expect an update.
I've called Orange several times now and until now have been given the usual ' this update usually takes up to four weeks'.......that is until now.
I just got off the phone with Orange customer service and the call operator and I had a quick chat, he popped me on hold for about a minute then came back and told me they now have on their systems a release date of August 27th. He confirmed that I wil receive a text message telling me to download the update and that's still I'll need to do.
I thought I would share so other Orange UK Desire owners can also relax with the checking system updates every 5 minutes.
Awesome.

The RUU won't be out for a while if at all, will probably just be an OTA for now.
must be a way to write a script to check the servers manually?
Bear in mind that if you apply the Orange froyo update you won't be able to root, and you probably won't be able to downgrade, leaving no options to debrand or root at all.

tested it if itll resume to its state where you left it,(mango fast app switching) it still doesnt.
live tile seem to be more LIVE than the previous version. it updated the tile as soon as i got back to the start screen.
these are the only improvements ive seen so far.
Different for me...
My tile now doesn't show temperature or weather condition only appears mini icons of htc applications and a static sun on background, before appears moon or sun, showers, where I am, etc...only when I enter I can see the information.
I see in reviews at marketplace that other people has this problem... live tile doesn't work now
solution found
I unistall and reinstall the hub and now live tile works fine...
