So I've been using Warm Z TwoPointTwo Rom for the past couple of weeks. Yesterday, I felt like switching Roms and so I decided to switch to Sprint Lovers Rom. Anyway, I did everything to install it (Go to recovery, clear data/cache/davlink) and then installed from zip. It booted up fine and everything. Then, I installed AdFree and did that install host files (something like that) and it told me to reboot for something, and so I did.
When I reboot... the screen stayed on the (HTC Evo 4G) AKA Boot Loop. I when through everything again (clearing and installing) and it, once again, started up fine. I noticed I didn't have a backup for my phone numbers so I restored back to Warm Z to back up my numbers, then tried going back to Sprint Lovers... once again it was boot loop.
I went to Google looking for an answer and the only thing I could find was that it will boot loop if you're on a Verizon PRL? Is that my problem? Because I'm on a Verizon PRL? Also for the Sprint Lovers Rom, I used the "standalonerom" not the one with the HBoot, PRL, WiiMax, etc. because I didn't want to lose my PRL and because I can't use the ##775# thing on Sprint Lovers Rom.
Can someone help me? Sorry for the long read.
Yes, that is a possibility. If you need to change PRLs to make it stop the looping, would you do so? Also, could you not re-perform the steps you took to get Verizon's PRL after you've taken care of the bootlooping issue? I keep reading where people have wiped the cache, dalvik and data when changing roms. Depending on how your device is set up, you may need to wipe more than that. Personally, I wipe EVERYTHING except the SD card itself using amon RA recovery. Try doing that and then see if you still have the looping issue.

Well I would but the EPST won't let me change PRLs. Could i just flash a prl?

What rom did you use "prior to" Warm Z? Did you acquire the Verizon PRL while using Warm Z or prior to using Warm Z?

Hey all
So i searched and saw people with slightly similar issues, but not the same as mine.
I was hoping anybody could help.
I was having small issues with the rom i was running (CM) and decided to wipe all and go back to a nandroid i had of a previous ROM (Myn 2.2).
I wiped all through recovery and tried to load the Nandroid. It got stuck at the white HTC Evo 4g load screen.
I pulled battery. Went into recovery. Reloaded a seperate Nandroid backup (one that i had restored before with no issues) and had the same issue.
I then went back into recovery, wiped all, and did a fresh install of the Myn rom zip on my SD card (one that i had loaded before and knew was okay). Once again...stuck at the white loading screen.
So here i am. Recovery works, but i absolutely cannot get any ROM's or Nandroid backups to work after restoring/installing. Constantly stuck at the white screen.
Any ideas? I've flashed my phone a million times and this is the first time this is happening.
Thanks in advance everyone.
okay, quick follow up.
I reflashed CM6 and am able to load ONLY CM.
Seems really weird to me. Any ideas why I am unable to get back to other ROMs? I did recently update to the most recent Radio...that's the only physical change to my phone that i made that i can think of.
Thanks again. At least i have a working phone.
I had this issue, RLS4 is based on the 3.30 release. I had to downgrade my NV, PRI, Radio and WiMax to get it running.
You can grab all of these here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=715485
EDIT: Make sure you flash one zip at a time here. I'm not certain if it's okay to do them all at the same time, but I generally hear that can cause issues. It'll ask you to reboot after each one. If you use Amon RA, it'll just reboot into recovery again, not sure about Clockwork.
I was also surprised that my nandroid backups of Myn's from before I flashed 3.70 software update didn't work/revert my software back to 3.30.

I downloaded these ones and flashed them in this order. Each time I'd try to install the ROM after flashing. I didn't successfully flash until after the NV. If I was a good troubleshooter, I would've tried to narrow it down here. Sorry, I'm not sure if it's necessary to downgrade one or all.
EVO_WiMAX_26023_R01
EVO_Radio_2.15.00.09.01
EVO_PRI_1.77_003
EVO_NV_1.77_003
I didn't mess with HBOOT, I was able to install the ROM after I flashed the NV.
I have a same problem
stuck on the white screen, triyed to run the pc36img.zip and its says no image
then I went to recovery it only allows me to run a zip file...What can run as zip
file to get this to load my rom and I dot have nanroid either...
Any help/advise is apprciated!!
I sold my old rooted EVO 4G running Cyanogenmod 7 RC2 to a buddy. I left Sprint entirely and made sure the ESN was/is clean. However my buddy said it won't activate on the Sprint system? He got transferred to a tech and when they try and do their special sprint ## whatever in the system to bring up a special menu nothing happens...
So has anyone activated a rooted [CM7] EVO on sprint before? What else can I try short of flashing back to a stock rom?
Thanks in advance.
Try this to return the Evo to stock activate it then you should be able to re-root the phone. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=780141

I don't think it needs to be unrooted, but it does need to be on a sense rom. Flash sprint lovers, activate, then nand restore back to CM7.
You don't need to unroot, but your friends needs to flash a sense rom, myn's, sprint lovers, ect so it can work with whatever the tech is trying to do.
do the sense roms have something special in them or what?
Sense roms have all the framework, ect needed to work with the fixes. Its the same reason you can't do the gps fix on an aosp rom [CM7] and have to flash a sense rom, do the fix, then flash back.
Yep, flash to something with sense, call and activate, then flash back to cyanogenmod.

Thanks guys!
Just tell your buddy to open up ROM Manager, open the ROM list, scroll to the bottom, choose EVO Stock, and tap the top option. Check both Backup and Wipe, and let ClockworkMod flash the new ROM.
Once he's done activating, power off the phone, hold down VolDown+Power, switch to Recovey, and restore the newest backup on the SD card, then reboot.
Ta-da! New stock repo saves the day yet again! xD
The reason being, to do ## codes, he needs to be on a Sense ROM. ## Codes do not work on CM7.
that worked, thanks guys!
Can any of you guys running CM-7 Offical final release tell me if 4G WiMax is part of the CM build?
From what i can tell its not. But i am trying to get a confirmation before i go thru the trouble of rooting and installing that ROM.
Thanks.

Wimax is in CM7 final. I connected to 4G immediately after flashing it last night.
You could manually provision it, but the data password changes every time you do a change in the account, so it's going to be tough but doable. A sprint rep can give you the password if you ask nicely...
SprintZone + Sense Rom is what works 100%
If you want to manually provision it, run a shell and type this:
cd /sys/devices/virtual/usb_composite/diag
echo 1 > enable
the phone will drop you to your C: prompt and the phone is now in DIAG mode. You can use CDMA WS or QPST to provision it. After you're done you can do the same steps above but with a 0 to disable DIAG mode.

recently, my phone has just started a habit of randomly rebooting. i was using myn rls5 with net kernel 4.3.2, but i decided to try something different in an attempt to stop the problem, so i went to mikfroyo with its default kernel. right after i startthe phone and it gets to the homescreen, it starts restarting again. i cleared data and cache between roms, and im using clockworkmod 3.0.0.5
You should always perform a full wipe, to include factory/data, when flashing a new rom.

that could be it. everytime i install RA though, it complains and doesnt boot into recovery correctly
oohhh. that sucks. try unrooting or using a stock rom for a while. if it keeps rebooting when you browse the web, play games, anything that works the phone, then there is nothing you can do. the phone is fried. wait until it is bad enough that you can do it whenever you want by firing up a game and playing for a few minutes. then bring to the sprint store and they will replace. hah why do i have to be the person who brings the bad news?
again, try unrooting first. you can even leave s-off to re root easily. if you have no reboots, then the problem can be fixed.
i feel so bad giving this news... hah
My phone recently started doing this. Doesn't matter what ROM I'm on, doesn't matter if I un-root with a factory RUU or re-root, doesn't matter what recovery I use, doesn't matter if I completely format my SD card or boot without one. It got to the point I had to take it to Sprint and have them order me a new one.
It would randomly reboot and then go into a bootloop that not even a factory reset would cure, just decides when to stop bootlooping on its own and occasionally works.

If you're using ROM Manager, don't! Download the PC36IMG.zip file from amon's thread and place it on the root of your SD card. Shutdown your device. While pressing the down arrow key, press the power button. You will then enter the bootloader screen. After a few seconds, a few lines of text will appear and the bootloader will automatically detect the. PC36IMG.zip file and prompt you to install it. Follow the prompts to install. The installation will take less than 10 seconds to complete. Afterwards, reboot into your new recovery. The recovery version will be listed at the bottom of the screen. Go to the wipe menu and wipe EVERYTHING except the SD card itself then go to the flash menu and flash whatever rom you wish to flash.

No, I had already moved away from CM7 when it began. It started out of nowhere and just got worse on a daily basis.
I had also never used Unrevoked. I rooted with toast's original root method way back last August or so and was using the .76 ENG bootloader.
I had similar issues, in terms of both posts, and it got to the point that I just got it replaced from Sprint. It just progressively got worse no matter what was done. Has happened to others ... sounds like the phone might just be going.

There are a bunch of bad EVOs floating around. If you have this problem, you're more likely to get one of these as a refurb as they are the ones they get back. They'll replace the display, etc. But its the mobo that is probably the issue, and they don't replace that. They probably just make sure that it boots up and can make a call..

Hey all.
I need some help!
I have a rooted Evo 4G, running MIK G Rom and today, out of the blue. I could not make any calls. Busy signal. I called a sprint guy and he said to wipe and reflash.
It worked, where I could use my phone (after I disabled google voice)
To make a long story short, I took it to Sprint. Something got screwed up where I tried to reflash and now I can't call my phone or call out. The error is that the number is no longer in service.
Sprint guys said that everything was cool from sprint standpoint..network etc and that I should reflash to a stock Rom
Is there a Rom out there that I can flash and NOT lose my Root? This is a last ditch effort. They ordered me a new phone, but won't be here for several days.
Bottom line..I want to try a stock Rom. Is there one out there that I won't lose root? I can always redo my Amon RA if I have too.
Thanks SO MUCH!

Firstly, I did several wipes and flashed two different ROMS. Can't use the phone or get a call. 4G works but not 3G?
I realize that there are lots of Stock Roms but I don't know which to use. ie. Does anyone have a suggestion of a good one that won't require me to re root, etc.
Thanks..just looking for a suggestion.
Try swagged out stock. Its a sense rom so you can update profile and prl when you get it flashed and also you can use dialer codes I believe in case you have to go that route

Thanks so much...could you please elaborate a little bit on the dialer codes?

I s-off'd and unlocked my bootloader with beaups' utility a few days ago. Today, I attempted to flash Vanir. The flash was successful, but once it booted I was roaming. No matter what I did, I couldn't get a cell signal. I rebooted, wiped, reflashed, and couldn't get it to work.
So I restored my stock rom and everything was fine, except I couldn't make calls. I had data, but no voice. I rebooted, wiped, and restored the backup to no avail.
Thinking I might have had a bad flash, I flashed Vanir again with the same results, only this time I wasn't roaming, I just didn't have a signal at all. So I again reverted back to my backup (stock rom). Now I don't have a signal at all.
Could someone point me in the right direction? Thank you.
EDIT: I'm using TWRP
UPDATE: I have a cell signal, and data, just no voice.
I have seen others with the same problem. Does it work if you revert to a back up? If not then I have seen posts suggesting to flash the RUU. hope that helps, as I have not flashed any ROMs yet because I have been seeing people post these issued somewhat frequently.

I'd recommend you being on Sense but If your on a AOSP rom that is working for others. It doesn't really matter then.
If it doesn't work, I'd get it back to fully stock and ask for a warranty replacement.

if we do this, can we restore to a backup of a sense ROM afterwards?
I still have voice and data and all, but after AOSP, my cell signal almost never gets back to 4G. Always stuck on 1X or 3G.

Yes. What you'll need to do is copy your backup(s) of sense or AOSP to your computer or usbdisk. Then follow the instructions above then copy back to phone and everything should be fine.
