I just recently tried to flash the Rom DeFroST using the Clockworkmod.
I can now not boot into the Rom (I get a looping splash, the cool colourfull nexus one X animation) and if I try boot into clockworkmod, it stalls at the Telstra splash (still image). I also cannot browse any files on the SD card, I have to remove it and insert it into the adpater.
I'm really afraid I've bricked it :/ Can someone help me? I can still get into HBOOT.

your phone is not bricked.
did you root your phone first?
I have a Telstra phone and I had to flash an official WWE ROM first, then use gold card to root my phone and now I can flash any ROM.
My phone came unlocked, it was unlocked by the company from whom I ordered it from. Yes I did root it first. Atleast, I assume I did...
I used the linux version of rewvoked 3 and it completed with out errors. It has been trying to boot for approximately 13 minutes now and is still stuck on the animated nexus one splash...
It is now into its 21st minute, I somehow doubt it's going to boot

Unlocked and rooted are two different things. Is this your first flash of a custom ROM for the Desire?
Whenever you flash a ROM for the first time it does take a LONG time for it to process. I don't remember how long, can't tell you if 15 min is to long. You can always re-flash by putting the phone into recovery mode manually and using the USB method for flashing.
Yes this is my first ROM.
That's the problem, the phone stalls if I try and put the phone into recovery mode... :/ Unless that too is meant to take a very long time?
Ok, surely 1/2 an hour is beyond what it should take?

you need to start over.
did you read ALL of this before you started (not trying to insult you in anyway, just question) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=696189
it will tell you how to put is into recovery mode and then how to flash using USB
Yes I did, although I did end up following separate guides as my boot loader was 0.83 as opposed to 0.8 and 0.75 or whatever those guides included. Ok, start over. Sounds good... I'll try that, but you'll likely hear back from me!

My boot is .80, I am not sure if it changed when I flashed an official ROM first. I did that to get rid of all the Telstra stuff.
One thing you can try is to flash an official WWE ROM first. Then after you can go onto a custom ROM.
Ok, clockwork mod is working again, now to install thisWWE ROM, what exactly is it, where can I get it and what should I do?
Double post sorry

here is the link to official ROM for the HTC Desire http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=695667
They may have a radio in them as well. Once you flash one make sure your desire works. Then try flashing your custom ROM. Many custom ROM's need to have the latest radio so make sure you follow the instruction for that ROM and the radio that ROM uses.

one more thing, once you get an official ROM working, go to market and download ROM manager, use it to flash a custom ROM, it might work better for you.
Ok thankyou! But to me a radio is a small transistor based device that uses variable capacitance in order to change frequencies... What is it in this case?
By the way, I thank you for your help, you've been of great assistance!
EDIT: One more thing, that's a lot of roms, which one do I want? Any? do I want signed or unsigned?
Ok I'm even more confused, they're mostly .exe's, how do I use them?
EDIT: It also says they're not rooted, does that mean I have to re-root my phone again?
Having the exact same problem as you, also a telstra phone.
Boots and gets stuck on the "X" colored animation.
If you get it going, please post here what you did

A radio is the software that works your phone, GPS and wifi portions of the device.
use the first ROM on the list. Hold the volume down key and press the power key at the same time, hold them until you enter the recover screen. it will take about 30 sec to process, use the volume down key to select clear storage follow the instructions and this should set your phone back to factory setting (using the last ROM that worked on your phone). Your phone should be working and you should be able to boot-up.
From this point you will be able to connect your phone to your PC then click on the ROM (exe file) and follow the instructions to flash the official ROM
let me know what happens.
Ok so i need a windows PC? I'm on Ubuntu.
My Windows decided to implode after an update earlier this evening. Will probably leave that to download and go to bed. I'll post here tomorrow with how I get on tomorrow morning!
Hi all,
First post. yes...
Now, I've flashed 12.35d.60.140fU_26.08.03.07_M radio + ril.
Before that I had 12.41.60.19_26.06.04.14_M.
Problems:
1. I get something like -35/-70mA in the battery monitor. (Dialer 35% + WLAN 24%+ Cell 18%) 100%-> 65% in less that 8 hours
2. Once, the phone blocked/black screen after i have finished one phone call.
My Actions:
So i tried to revert the the previous radio(s) but the writing process blocks at about >95% and even after 5 min nothing happens. I get no error, the bootloader simply gets stuck. I have to remove the battery for a restart.
Conclusion:
As a result the version is still 12.35d.60.140fU_26.08.03.07_M (in bootloader & sw info)
Any ideas?
Thank you.
Some numbers about my config from sw info:
scid,Eng,S-Off, hBoot 0.85.2007
RCMixHD_5.3
Android 2.3.3
HTC 2.1

Not an expert, but here is my 2 cents...
Do you have the radio S-off, If you are not sure you can use gfree -verify to check that. XDA wiki has the process.
If you do have radio S-off, try downloading the file from some other place..
Hi,
I should have everything off/hacked/super/eng (radio/hboot/cid/etc..).
I'll check again just to be sure once I get home from work.
I tried to switch to other radios after this and the same thing happens. ;(. Until this one I've flashed 3 more radios without any problems.
1. downloads to the phone .. ok
2. writing to the phone .. once the red bar (upper right screen on the target/phone) is almost complete it gets stuck(need to remove battery) and i receive no error in the cmd wnd ( blocked, need to press ctrl+c).
Hi which method do u use to flash radio ?do tried using radio flash tool?

obvious.. he is using radio flash tool because they are talking about... red bar.... fastboot...
via adb there are not this things
Hi,
Solved it when I tried with the latest radio (last week's). Best one yet btw. I'm not sure what happened.
Oh.. fastboot for flashing.
There are 2 steps when I flash with it.
1. Pc/cmd I get something about downloading radio.img. at the same time on the phone screen I get a green vertical progress bar.
2. Step 2 Radio gets written/actually flashed and the a red progress bar appears in place of the green one. After red progress bar reaches around 90% the phone just blocks with no confirmation of an error in fastboot/cmd window on pc.
On a succesfull radio flashing the red bar doesn't reach more than half and I get the ok from fastboot/cmd utility and the actual writing (red bar part) takes less than 15s.
It seems that even after a couple of failed radio flashes nothing totally bad happened.

Hi,
Thank you for all the help.
The problem IS SOLVED by simply trying another radio 12.54.60.25_26.09.04.11_M2.
For everyone reading this, if something happens and the writing of the image blocks (in bootloader) for some reason, if it boots after you remove the battery everything is OK (at least for me).
Hi!
I rooted with Unrevoked & then Alpha S-Off-ed it, earlier on I went to flash the new radio from within recovery as I always have done, it said it had installed, so chose restart n now its just dead - nothing ness :'(
I've pulled the battery out n left it for a while & then put a fully charged batter in and tried switching it on, but its still dead! What can I do to bring life back to my poor fone?
PLEASE help me :'(
Pulling out the battery when flashing radio is a totally no-go. IMHO, your desire is completely bricked and now nothing more than an expensive paperweight.
Put battery in, press volume down and power on. Got any sign of recovery? If not then I fear that the previous poster is correct. It's surprisingly difficult to brick these things, I've gone down the whole "SD card not recognized" and "USB brick" road and still have a working phone.
I've also learned that flashing the radio can be a terminal issue if not done correctly (flashed mine at least 3 times now). I really hope that you can get into recovery as above (or 'back' and 'power'). If you can get into either of those then you're not bricked. If you can't, I feel for you
You shouldn't flash radio.zip when you are S-Off. You must extract the .img from the .zip file and use either fastboot terminal, or Android Flasher, to push.
No-one can diagnose your situation without seeing your phone, but all the RESEARCH I did before I S-Off'd told me that trying to flash radio.zip afterwards would likely prove terminal...
Partiton sizes?
Which partition layout you were using before flashing radio.zip through recovery?
There is a warning on alpharev web site:
If you downloaded Bravo Data++, please notice the /cache partition is too small to hold Radio flashes from recovery. You can however flash the radio just fine with 'fastboot flash radio radio.img'. Just extract the radio.img from the radio update.zip beforehand.

I'm currently rooted stock Froyo without any customisations apart from rooted & S-Off'ed.
Well I am VERY pleased to say that after leaving the battery out for the night, it now WORKS again
Before I gave up last night I even tried plugging in the charger but no light came on, this morning I held back & power and I saw the familiar "Why so serious" screen and all is well again, AND it actually DID update my radio version too
Next time I will definately use other measures to flash the radio now I realise I could potentually harm my slowly dying fone!
A quick question: where would I get a new system board from for my desire and what price range would I be looking at? (I've checked ebay but so far no Desire boards are there)
Thanks all and Im glad to report panic over
have you tried flashing according RUU with goldcard??
Hi guys,
I've tried searching but can't seem to find something that exactly matches my issue and I'm scared I'm gunna muck this up!
Just got a One X and unlocked, rooted and flashed android revolution 9.4.1 with CWM and all was working great.
Tonight I decided to flash a camera mod, worked well. I also flashed a beats mod, brightness mod and quick settings.
Now all I get is the phone stuck in a bootloop, no access to the bootloader via power on and vol down.
I'm new to HTC devices like this and I'm kinda new to all of this including fastboot etc
I would really appreciate some help here and if someone could point me in the right direction and help me get this sorted then a pint is on me sir.
If you could keep it simple like step by step
Really sorry if this is in the wrong forum
James
Mods are specific to the base on the ROM, sounds like you flashed an incompatible mod.
You should still be able to get into bootloader, though. Try again, then drop into recovery and reflash ARHD.
thanks for getting back to me,
Yeh i think it must be an incompatability.
Nope sorry cant access bootloader or fastboot, the phones charge has now died too.

Is it going back to displaying the white HTC screen when it bootloops? If so, keep the volume down key held before it loops and it should go into bootloader.
I'm at work now so I can't test this but I will do when I get home, thanks for the suggestion.
If this works, what do I need to do next?
PS: The phone has NO charge, any way I can charge it?
Thank you
Hi Guys, hoping someone can help me:
I have a Desire HD that has been rooted with S-OFF, after flashing a new ROM, the device wouldn't boot, when trying to start the device up, it will vibrate 3 times and flash the LED. If I try boot into recovery, it vibrates 5 times with a flashing green LED.
At the moment all I have is ADB access (no fastboot) and can't boot into the bootloader screen.
Through ADB I was able to reflash the recovery using the flash_image tool and I can boot into recovery by connecting the USB cable, I have flashed a few different ROMS through recovery, but the device will still not boot after this, I'm thinking the issue might be the radio image, which I have not been able to flash through flash_image (get -1 error code when trying this).
Any suggestions on how to proceed or what to try would be much appreciated, I'm also not fully clued up on what all can be done through ADB, so any suggestions on that front would also be appreciated.

Thanks for your response.
I have tried running RUU from the PC, which I got from here:
http://shipped-roms.com/index.php?category=android&model=Ace
The utility gives an error saying it cannot connect to the device, does the update utility not require me to boot into the bootloader to work?
I also tried downloading a few of the RUU zips there, but so far I haven't been able to flash them, just get an error "Can't to open <Filename>.zip (bad)", however I have checked that the zips are not corrupt, and I am able to flash other custom roms, not sure why it fails on these.
I also tried a bit with AAHK, but couldn't get it to flash anything, I put the custom rom in the folder as per the instructions, but it failed... perhaps I'm doing it wrong? maybe a bit of a walk through on how I would just flash the ROM through AAHK would help.
When you rooted phone did it say if its s-off in hboot. Try entering hboot. Power phone off then power up phone holding power button and volume down button at same time. If you can enter hboot and it says s-off get the rooted stock pd98img zip which also includes radio. Place on root of sd (no folder) power back up into hboot and let it do its thing. Volume up for yes when asked to install power button when asked to reboot.

Yip, my phone was rooted with S-OFF a good while ago, only got the issue recently after flashing a new rom. I can't get into HBOOT, when I try, it vibrates 5 times and flashes the green LED with a blank screen.
Sounds like your bootloader is messed up and not the radio. Search how to push the bootloader img.
Edit: sorry I'm on way to work or I would help you search. But I know there is a thread how to fix bootloader since you cant enter hboot which sounds like its your problem. You need to fix the bootloader. Do a google see what comes up from xda.

Any luck with this. I'm in the same pickle. Running JellyTime and it just stopped working. Will not boot, and recovery mode just flashed amber light. It is an android desire hd.
I would say that its a fried emmc chip, if that isn't the case (I doubt) you can use a JTAG and a riff box to recover the phone over OPST, the equipment needed can be quite costly, so taking it to a mobile repair shop that does jtagging, should work
