Having trouble with sending and receiving mms. Won't send unless I enable mobile data, checked apn is set right for my network
Any ideas?
I don't want to leave mobile data enabled as I only have 500mb usage a month

Mobil data needs to be enable to sent mms...
and you can't neither sent on wifi
I had the same problem with mms sending/receiving. I changed the authentication type option to PAP in the APN and it solved the issue. I don't know it is good to you, but it worth a try.

Not at all.
On standard HTC rom I can send and receive mms with mobile data disabled as its separate apns for mms and data

I changed the authentication type option but didn't get mms to work without data turned on.. :-(
Didn't work for me either, guess its back to stock rom :-(

Something else I just noticed. On stock rom Google maps has street view built in but on cyanogenmod I have to download a separate app which doesn't work as well as streetview on stock rom

So if you have a T-Mobile G2, you should know that we have wifi calling, which is a great thing, but I would like to know if there's a way I can text using the wifi. I've looked around and the only suggestion is using Google Voice, and I do, but it's just inconvenient to give all my friends a 2nd number to text to.
Thanks!

Don't texts go though wifi if you're using wifi calling? I think they do, thus no need for a separate app.

You still use your plans minutes and texts on wifi..so what is the point in "texting in wifi"? They don't charge data for texting/mms

The point is, access when there's no coverage. I have no signal at work and barely 1 bar (EDGE only) outside of my work so I have to run on WiFi

Are you using the stock messaging app or something different? Might not work with a 3rd party app without some tweaking

If it were't for wifi calling, texting and calling from home would be an exercise in futility. So, I know it works.

Hmm... I didn't think using a 3rd party app would affect it, I'll be sure to try that later

I too can also vouch that with the stock and aftermarket SMS apps that text messages go though with WIFI calling enabled. I have 0 signal at my house.
Maybe try turning off your gsm radio to see if that works. Just a thought.
Not sure if you're interested, but I use an app called Textfree which sends texts through wifi to your recipient. It gives you a Textfree number which is a US number. Being Canadian, this really helps with having american friends because they don't have to text internationally and I can text using my Data or WiFi.
Give it a try!
yup mms and sms work wile wafi calling is enable ...i used 3rd paty messenger (handcent)

Hi I flashed my phone today to cricket wireless. Everything seems to work fine faster than sprints 3g speeds tell you that. But my problem is I cant watch YouTube videos on 3G. When I was on the s3 I found the solution to be an app that let me change the streaming settings to 0.0.0.0 instead of sprint. Cant get it to work on my note 2. Also mms either. Can someone help me out please? Thanks alot

I would google "cricket wireless apn settings", to get your mms working.
It looks like you also need to set your mmsc to:
http://mms.mycricket.com/servlets/mms

After rooting and flashing a ROM my MMS is no longer working, Getting a generic network failure when sending or receiving pictures. Is anyone else experiencing this and is there a fix for it?

Thanks for the detailed response.
I have set my APN to default values which is the same settings I have seen recommended through my searching and am still having issues.
Sorry since I am not with AT&T. I am not certain what values work but I'm 99% sure your apn settings are not proper.

Check your mms size limit in messages settings. Cannot be above 600k on at&t.

Is there any way to verify what it might be? I have not made any changes to it.
I use to use go SMS as my messaging app, then I was introduced to Hangouts by my brother. Its plain and simple as a messaging app. I have one issue, sometimes my MMS won't download and I will get individual messages from the contact person, saying "cannot download, please press to download message" and when I press it, sometimes it won't download, other times it won't download till a little later or it just won't download at all. Is there any fix to this? Its very frustrating. I redownloaded the app, I even wiped my phone. I put a new ROM on, (was happening on my previous ROM also). My modem is mk4, going to switch to NB4. But is this an app issue or connectivity issue? I always get my regular SMS without a problem. Please help, I'll appreciate it. Thanks in advance.

If you're on WiFi calling then that's why, you need to disable it or disable it every time you get an MMS
Sent from my SGH-M919 using Tapatalk
I get this same issue even with stock messenger. Like Serio said, you need to disable Wifi calling. I just shut Wifi off using the toggle send/receive the MMS then turn it back on.

Only touchwiz ROMs have WiFi calling, so this is not your issue.. Try asking or searching in the ROM thread to see if someone was able to find a solution.. I'm on Google edition ROM and have no issues sending MMS with hangouts while connected to WiFi
