Has this worked for anyone? I haven't really searched much on this, but has anyone gotten it to work? If so, how?
Sent from my PC36100.
Yes, my university's network uses WPA2-Enterprise with 802.1x authentication.
I need to select the network, set the EAP method to PEAP, the Phase 2 authentication to MSCHAPV2, CA Certificate to unspecified and User Certificate to unspecified. Type my Identity (username), leave Anonymous Identity blank, then type my personal password.
When I connect to my network on a desktop/laptop computer, I need a specific CA certificate, but our network bypasses that for mobile devices.
I hope this can help you, there are so many different ways a network could be set up, and since I am on a private university connection, it may not be similar to your network.
Thanks a bunch! I'll give this a try tomorrow.

Where the hell is it?
After using the preferred W2003 method of tapping everything in sight in the vain hope that I might stumble across what I'm looking for, I've failed miserably. So, having configured my shiny new router for WPA encryption, how the bl**dy hell do I configure the XDA2s to talk to it via WPA?

Connect to your shiny new router with your XDA2s. A "window" will popup and ask you for the key.
Assuming that the PPC can use (WPA) Authentication, which I can not prove since I use 64bit (WEP) encryption. If WPA auth. doesn't prompt on your PPC, try using WEP for WiFi security on your shiny new router.
I'm using WPA-PSK with my Linksys WRT54G (Firmware v3.03.6) without problems ..
QTEK9090
ROM: 1.22.00 WWE
RADIO: 1.10.00
PROTOCOL: 1337.391
EXTROM: 1.22.557 WWE (cooked)
BT: 3500 (with patch)
Yes, but is your router shiny?
Try putting the WINS address "192.168.0.1" or whatever address of your router is.
Also some devices would only accept the Hex variety of the key you choose.
Good luck.
I have a similar problem. I have a linksys wireless router set to secure.
My SX66 asks me for the password. When I enter it I get an error message that it is not the correct password.
The SX66 then says it is connected to the network and shows the SSID and other details, but other than this message it doesn't seem to be connected and I cannot connect to the internet.
What am I'm doing wrong?
To get to the options:
1) turn on the wireless
2) wait for it to pop up asking you if your router connects to "work" or the "Internet". I assume you will want to click "work".
3) Open the wireless LAN manager
4) Click the TOOLS menu at the bottom.
5) Choose NETWORK CARDS
6) You should have a "Configure Wireless Networks" window up.
7) Tap your shiny router one time (it should say connected BTW)
Now you should have 3 tabs at the bottom, General - Network Key - 802.1x . Under the Network Key tab you should have 4 options for Authentication - Open, Shared, WPA, WPA-PSK. The data encryption option will depend on which authentication you choose. I beleive you should choose WPA for authentication and WEP for data encryption. Then put in the key. If that does not work, try TKIP for data encryption maybe.
I have not tested out any of this myself yet. I still have an old linksys running 128 bit WEP. I am getting a Sonicwall TZ-170 SP (think that is the model #) and will then try WPA and maybe even see if I can get RADIUS working through the PDA2K.

I just got my home WiFi network running; this is so cool!
Hello fellow XDA users,
I've tried to connect to my universities Wi-fi network but they use WPA2 Enterprise. They have a page for the Iphone on how to set up the connection, http://itdfaq.aus.edu/faq/index.php?action=artikel&cat=5&id=159&artlang=en.
However I can't seem to find the same exact settings on my Desire.
Can you help me connect to my network?
I am using Sense Froyo right now, any help is really appreciated!
Don't think you can connect to that type or network with the Desire, might be wrong though

I really hope it's not true. Because we have a high end phone & because the Iphone can do it.
Hmm here WPA2 Radius Auth. is working fine out of the box with Open Desire ... also Stock unrooted is working fine.
Radius is working fine, even VPN. As fast as with an Iphone! ;-) (a little bit faster ... no benchmark, personal feelings )
You need the Username and Password and some auth settings (can also be done with testing), thats all ... perhaps the admin uses an cert., so you have to ask for one ... but i dont think that you will need an Cert ... too much admin work for so many students ;-)
I don't see why you wouldn't be able to use WPA2. However, many universities and schools use SecureW2 or similar software for authentication. Just pay a visit to your university's helpdesk.

I have zero understanding about networking. So can you please take a look at this and help me understand: http://itdfaq.aus.edu/faq/index.php?action=artikel&cat=5&id=19&artlang=en
Thank you.
My university uses a WPA2 Enterprise secured wireless network and the good news is that I was able to connect with my stock HTC Desire. The bad news is of course that it isn't as simple as it should be.
What I did was reset my phone's so called Credential Storage and assign a new personal password to it. Then I proceeded to identify some specific Root Certificate Authority certificate needed to establish a connection between a random device and the university networks in my country. In Switzerland, I had to download the QuoVadis Root CA2 certificate and install it into the Credential Storage. After that, the phone determined after connecting to the secured network what parameters were necessary to get internet access.
I was able to simply specify my account and password and link those parameters to that network. Since then, everything works as expected.

So I need to download the .cert file and install it through the credentials storage. I will try that and report, thank you guys.
I use WPA2 Enterprise at uni all the time, and it downloaded the certificate upon first connect. Requires secure credentials to be enabled, but i think if its disabled it will prompt you at the time.
There are different Settings in your Link (first page) and the xp infos on the site. ... i thought that the following infos will do it for you.
Download the cert to sd
Add an connection (manually)
Network name: AUS_Wireless (makes sure it is typed exactly this way)
Security type: 802.1x
PEAP / EAP
Encryption type: WPA/TKIP
Leave the security key field empty
User name: b000xxxxx/g000xxxxx (without adding @aus.edu)
Enter your network password (provided by IT via email)
Now you should be able to connect.
I did it.
A weird thing happened. I connected to the network and this time I was asked to add a password for the credential. So it seems that my phone downloaded it this time and saved it.
Thank you guys for your help.
My employer uses RSA secureIDs and Odyssey Access client to connect to office wlan. I want to connect to this network using my RSA token and to my HTC desire HD. Can anybody help me how to set up a network which will prompt for RSA secure pin on each connect. I have searched everywhere, but no answers...
Is there any genius who can solve this problem?
You are looking to do AAA against the WLAN? You need to be running 802.1x on the WLAN and you will need to have a AAA server authenticating people against this. This will then be responsible for taking the Radius requests from the clients and handing off the Authentication of such to an RSA server. Personally we use dot1x on our wireless to send Active Directory User Credentials and Machine Account Credentials every time you connect but I don't see why you wouldn't be able to do similar with RSA.
Good luck
But Google is your friend here, you need to search for 802.1x Wlan and AAA.

Thanks for your reply.
I have all the required credentials and even the RSA token. I can connect to my laptop using this token and the Odessey access client. Everytime while connecting I need to authenticate using this token. I tried connecting with the help of 802.1x in the mobile. But no luck, since, it does not prompt for the pin.
Just curious if there are any mods or some app or any other hack which would enable me to connect to wlan.

Hey guys,
I am new to the android world again. I just came over from an iPhone. I used to have android way back when the G1 first came out LOL. Anyways...At work we have a hidden wifi connection so normally I would go on my iPhone into wifi settings, press Other, type in the SSID, select WPA2 Enterprise, enter my username and password and be connected.
How would I go about doing this on the GS3? I go into wifi settings, I press other, enter the SSID, but it does not have WPA2 Enterprise and any of the others that I choose, does not give me the ability to enter a Username, but only a password with the exception of one of them, but that didnt even work.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance guys
I am using the corporate wifi network. Try using WPA/WPA2 PSK option and give the network password (otherwise you cannot save the settings). Once the option is saved and it tries to connect, it will prompt to enter "Identity" which is you network user id and Password. Leave Anonymous identity as blank.
Let me know if you still have issues. I will try to provide the screenshots.
Hey guys,
I am new to the android world as of 2 weeks ago or so.
I was just wondering, is there any way to connect to WPA/WPA2 Enterprise, but the type that asks for Username.
On the iPhone I was able to enter Username and Password which is what is required for my corporate network here, but on the android, for some reason I am not able to get this and when I select WPA/WPA2 PSK it only asks me for password, but it cannot authenticate me because I need to use my corporate Username and Password to access the network.
Please let me know if you guys can advise me on this.
Thanks in advance
