[Q] GPS Problem, Detected but NOT FIXED ! - Desire HD Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello Guys.... I have a Problem with my GPS on Desire HD.
I follow all method using faster fix and GPS Status, but didn't work, I changing the ROM and radio also to the latest.
My Problem is:
Satellite detected, on GPS Status it says 6/6 Fix(is this meaning locked ?) but on NDrive its detected only 5 Satellite and still "Status: No Fix"
Usually when using stock ROM I get "Status: FIX 3D" on NDrive only need 3/4 Satellite detected.. but this.. 5 Satellite Detected with "Status: No Fix".
Any solution for this?

Do you get coordinates or not?

ROM/Radio???/ Details........

Radio v1.00.25.05 GPS BUG ???

Hallo (Bepe)
I have a HTC Touch Diamond and my rom was RUU_Diamond_HTC_GER_1.37.407.2_Radio_Signed_Diamond_52.26a.25.09_1.00.25.03_Ship
and my GPS functionality was perfect. with TomTom 7
Now i have Diamond_bElite_Premium_0.95_0407 rom, and Diamond_Radio_1.00.25.05 because was recommended. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=407956
Now my GPS not works, why??
I have Check with HTC GPS Tool and GNS Test, no GPS signal.
QuickGPS update 6 Days an 23 h
I think the problem is the Diamond_Radio_1.00.25.05 why not works with the internal GPS. It's very strange.
Anybody have the same problems ???
Do you think you can resolve this problem ???
Have you tried another radio with the same ROM?
Did you use VOIP? It has a tendency to break GPS (hard boot fixes the issue)
I have a custom built ROM based on 20273 (with 15965 elements) with radio .11
GPS works fine. It DOES take some time to get a fix the first time, but afterwards, it swooshes.
^.^
IF another radio doesn't work, check if the issue persists with another ROM but with radio .05.
have you tryed a hard reset?
I have this radio version and the gps work fine
I have this radio version and the gps doesn't work fine! since I've flashed my diamond... a lot of problem for gps. No voip soft installed.
Problem on 0.95 and 0.96 bepe version.
i have this radio on the hk 193 rom and the gps works flawlessly,takes30 seconds to lock sats from cold boot.
Always hard reset after flashing a new rom. It fixes many problems. This advice is given by Duttythroy.

I'am using this radio ROM with 1.37.406.1FRE.
GPS works fine ! At least, 1.00.25.05 is a very good Radio ROM.
I don't think GPS has anything to do with the Radio since it is not a transmitting device. It's another problem. Have you checked windows manages GPS port?

When the HTC trinity was release in Europe it had a Radio ROM of 1.23.** with this ROM the GPS did not function. With the release of Radio ROM 1.38.** the device now had GPS capability. Do you still think the RADIO ROM has nothing to do with GPS?
I've had the same issues after upgrading the Radio ROM... The two are DEFINITELY connected as in the Radio ROM has something in it that affects GPS.
Anyway, as stated in other threads and here (ALWAYS hard reset after upgrading the Radio ROM, even though you dont have to, its best that you do.
Then run GPSTool, choose COM4, baud 4800, press 'Open' then once you see data in the bottom half of the screen (thats your GPS talking!) choose 'Cold Start' from the drop down box and then press 'Nav Init'.
Now leave it like this for a few minutes (outside!) and then press the satellites tab at the bottom, as long as you can at least see some red dots (satellites) on the globe (earth) then your GPS IS WORKING. Dont worry if it says Mode 2: No fix available - as I dont know about the rest of you but Ive never seen this tool get a 'fix'.
Now once you've let it do that for a while and verified some red dots on the satellites screen then you should be able to close the tool, and start TomTom and just be a little patient maybe and then you will start seeing some activity.
A little note: Be somewhere with at LEAST 60% sky view when you're doing this as you've reset all the nav data and the initial process of locking on satellites from 'cold' can take a while, but once you've locked on eventually the next time it should be a little quicker. As usual YMMV but at least this has worked for me and I've had no end of trouble with the GPS after doing Radio ROM updates.
Good luck.

QUICKGPS software

hey guys,
i just want to know that is the quickGPS software required for using GPS ?
i flashed a rom which didnt have that software in it and the software googleMaps was unable to find any satellites. is there any relation ? if not then what is the purpose of quickGPS
no its not required. quickgps speeds up the time to get a fix by downloading data of the postion of the satellites. It should work without quickgps, but especially the first fix could take a few minutes. i recommend to install it.
I have installed a few roms in my diamond and GPS is not working. last time it found GPS connection but was not updating my location. i dont know what is the reason!!.
is the GPS in this device ruined ?

It is true that QuickGPS is not required to run your GPS..but then again there are some ROMS which will not find your GPS connection till you have installed download files for QuickGPS...
I recommend donwnload a standalone cab file for QuickGPS and try again.

[Q] HTC DHD gps issue

I really need help. My gps doesnt work. How can I find the latest radio for this phone? Could this be a problem.
Here is the link to the Radio thread where you will find the latest radio:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=877295
Aswell as the radio though, if you have a sense rom it is best to flash the matching RIL. You will find the RIL thread here:

I had this problem, if the new radio flash worked then don't worry but if the problem persists then download "GPS Status" on the Android Market then follow
Take your SIM out of the Desire HD
Power on the device
Turn WiFi on
Turn GPS on
Open application: GPS Status
Go into its Settings menu
Click on GPS and Sensors
Click Manage A-GPS state
Click Reset
Click Manage A-GPS state again
Click Download
Now put your phone on a stable, straight surface in order to enable the phone to get a lock. This time, you’ll see your phone get the lock back way faster than before.
With that done, now it’s time to put your SIM back in and use the network to secure a quick GPS fix as well.
(Worked perfectly for me)

I have no idea about the radio! its the only part i truly dont understand if you could tell me about it, i know people have had 4g by flashing some different radio but i really have no idea!!
Please help meee!
4g is not supported on our wildfire.
To flash a radio to the device you need to have cwm recovery 2.5 or below. 3+ wont work instantly.
Make sure your phone has enough battery!!
cmw 2.5.X or below:
Just flash the radio
I cant give you the url to a radio file. only by pm if you need it, and cant find it on xda.
cmw 3+
Flash first the attached file (update1) to get temporary cmw 2.5.X
Then flash the radio
Hazou
Hit the thanks if it worked
Open an app which actually uses GPS to see the GPS symbol on the status bar. Example - Google Maps. When an app is not using the GPS, no symbol will be shown.

Which ROM were you using prior to this?
This happened with me once. What worked for me was to flash a Sense-based ROM (RemPuzzle), turn on GPS, open app like Maps, set location, then DO NOT TURN OFF GPS and wipe and flash cm7.2 again. Your GPS will work this time.

Hm. Did you try what i said/
Hi, I'm having the same problem. Reflashing radio did not work.
It does show up on the status-bar after flashing radio, but doesn't really seem to work. No signal on co-pilot or GPS Status.
I had the same problem, dowloaded gps test from market, opened the app and gps on, then suddenly it worked.

Yes same happened with me, i opened Latitude and the GPS came on but thats the only time, after that it never came on again
Hello,
The GPS works correctly with CM 7.1 and CM 7.2.
After flashing the CM 7.2 zip file, you have to flash the gapps zip file.
link : http://cmw.22aaf3.com/gapps/gapps-gb-20110828-signed.zip
it works with me normally.
I've tried all this, nothing works... faulty radio probably :/

Unable to get GPS lock on V20C official ICS (Edit: Found a Fix)

My Nitro HD's GPS stopped working after flashing to the latest V20C ICS ROM via CWM. I did a factory reset, etc before flashing.
When I try to use the navigation app, I cannot get a GPS lock, even if wifi, gps are both turned on. With the CM9 RC2 ROM I was able to get GPS lock every time in less than 30 seconds.
Is there a fix?

Have you tried rebooting the phone with GPS on? Try doing so. Turn on your GPS n your WiFi off, reboot the phone n see if u can get a lock on the gps. If that doesn't work either, try using an app called GPS status. It helps speed up locking with the satellites by downloading the updated GPS data.

Same problem here. Reboot or gps status doesn't help.
