uuhh sorry, enlighten me here please. what good does this bring?
lol there isn't even root on g2 et or custom recover lol
Is there a way to flash this on AVD?
we can take a look around the ROM and see what is up as well as look into breaking it before the phone is released. remember that the aria was rooted days before it was actually released as a phone, having the build can get us a head start on the hacking process. thank you for posting

Thats the one thing i really hate about the g2 is the name people know the my touch as the g2 and its just confusing the hell out of people.
either way i hope it the g2 is rooted by the time i get it.
@limestar
if you got a test g2 post up pics and some info like the /system size ect..

What you mean different from your G2, if you have one why have you not provided a sys dump or any info, if not then stop trolling that you have one as that is not helpful

Yeah, I agree, tubaking. He's full of crap. He's saying the rom is different and talking about sense ui. We all know that it has no trace of sense at all. Either he has a desire z or is just trolling. He's definately not one of tmobile employees who actually got a G2 tester model. He sounds like a 13 year old kid trying to screw with people on the internet...
I got no problems with posting pics of the phone tomorrow when i am back at work and yes it is a desire z. Same as g2 because the g2 t-mo rom loaded fine once i renamed the zip.

Not quite the same... Desire Z has different radio bands and 1.5 GB vice 4 GB storage on the G2.

Lol! I thought thats what it was. I wasn't quite sure if you were a troll or just a semi-confused desire z owner. My apologies. So... it did flash, huh? Wow, I knew they were close but didn't think you could use each others roms. Thats good to know! What works or what doesn't work? You mind testing it out for us? I doubt we want pics but would like a report on what doesn't work after flashing a G2 rom....
So here is the proof. Both hardware versions in the uk anyway were called vision and can put either rom on. This hardware had Desire Z sw on it when i got it.

Hi everyone, my girlfriend has a Desire on Telus and she keeps getting low space warning. I poked around through Astro but couldn't find anything to delete. She has all apps installed to SD that support it. Is this just product of the environment, small internal memory?
I'm sure there is a way to cure this with a little hackery, and if it were mine it would be no problem but she is weary of that sort of thing.
Any suggestions would be great. Maybe an app for managing space more suited for these phones.
Thanks.
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA Premium App
unfortunately that's the problem with the desire.
you'll need to update to a rom that supports apps2sd+ or data2sd which essentially lets the phone use part of your sd card as internal memory
That's the impression I was getting looking at the custom ROMs. Thanks anyway.

Starburst is android 2.2 or the same dev has supernova android 2.3
The choice is your's am using 2.3 and have 2GB internal memory, have lots off app's and still 1.2GB left.
Small internal memory is a known desire problem. Data2sd will solve your girlfriend's storage problems. Imho starburst, supernova and miui (d2ext x-part version) are recommended. You could also change partition layout (hboot), but this is much riskier than flashing one of the named roms.
Thanks for the suggestions guys! If it were mine it would already be done, but it's not. I will talk to her and see if I can convince her.
How sensitive is the Desire to flashing? Are there any major issues I should read up on first? Of course I will do some homework but a heads up would be great.
Thanks again, I'll check back often.

Root using unrevoked3 http://unrevoked.com/recovery/
And flashing RoMs is very safe, has long has you do a nand backup, this just like installing windows.
For 2.3 RoM a new radio is recommended this is risky, but ive had no problem's and ive updated radio 4 time's.
They is load's of topics for first timer's on here just have a good read.

The problem with that not all the file is moved, like app2sd+ 20mb file 15mb to sd 5 still on internal, you'll soon use that 150mb.
Thanks so much guys for the information and suggestions. She is debating the matter so in the meantime I'll have to do some serious studying on flashing this phone. It is much more complicated than flashing the Galaxy S.
She should have took my advice and got a Desire HD after her first Desire was stolen.

rooting sounds really scary but is actually very simple, you just need to post what your current hboot setup is, from powered off press vol down and press power. let us no what your hboot version is. because if its the new 1.06 there is no way to root yet.

Hi guys, been quite a while since I started this thread but finally this past weekend had the time to get started on fixing the wife's Desire.
Got it rooted with unrevoked after much frustration. I finally found a post that recommend uninstalling a few apps to stop getting the failure error and it worked like a charm. Not before I read another post that recommend using linux because of issues with win 64 bit. I happened to have a copy of zorin os on my desk so I now have that to play with when I get home on Friday. :-D
Shot a thanks to all you who helped, wish me luck when I attempt to flash a custom ROM to her phone this weekend.
I think I might get her a new one for Christmas.

Moving to Q&A
Ive been looking for development on the LG Mach LS860, but I have not turned up anything besides a small thread just trying to gain support. I was wondering if any brilliant minds here knew if the LS860 is similar software or hardware wise to the OptimusG LS970? I know it has different specs, but I was hoping it would use the same chipset or similar software so that I could try using OptimusG root/unlocking techniques with a slimmer chance of destroying my phone. Haha (not worried about losing apps/contacts, just worried about having a bricked bootloader)
Thanks for any input in advance!
My justification for inquiring about this is the fact that they were released at the same time and have similar physical features, besides the Mach's physical keyboard.

So, is it possible to use roms based on that phone/chipset then? I figured using the optimus g unlocked bootloader would have been best since I assumed the software would be very similar.

Hello,
I just updated my phone to the last MIUI version (3.5.24) and have an issue: after typing my sim card pin code the phone softreboots, and there's no way of passing through there with the sim card. Can use the phone without it. That happened to me too on the previous release, but not on 3.5.10, which I can still use.
Did a full wipe and the problem with this version persist. I heard some people having the same issue, so I guess it is a rom bug?
If anyone has any idea, please share!

Yes, I did, and the problem still there. I tried using my card in another device and it works, and with previous releases, and with different roms and it also works. The problem only exists in the last two miui releases, but not everyone is having the problem... Is quite strange, don't you think?

Contrary to what I used to believe, the hardware axross the dhds and inspire differs ever so slightly depending on when it was produced. Its only very small differences which is why we have these little anomlies in some roms/kernals working for most but refuse to work for a handfull of users. You might want to find a different rom. Changing the kernal may help??

Search the roms thread for the best answer to that
Hello, I have a US Cellular CMDA desire so I am hoping some of you guys could please suggest some good Roms for it, I have had CM7 on it for about a year now which is fine, however recently for whatever reason a lot of my apps crash constantly thus I need to perform a clean install, so since I must go through the trouble of installing a rom again anyway, I would really like to put at least ICS onto it and preferably JB but almost all roms are made for the GSM desire which is not only quite annoying but also saddens me as I cannot load a lot of the cool roms out there onto it, thus any suggestions are very much appreciated.
Although if someone could also explain the shortage of them that would be nice.. because there are a fair number of these phones..
Oh and one last thing, can you possibly make any rom into a CMDA rom? using a script or something?
sorry for the paragraph and Thanks in advance for the help.

well I dunno... so far I've tried 3 or 4 JB roms and the most I got out of it was a boot animation and yes I waited long enough to see if it would boot I let it sit for 30 minutes and nothing happened, I suppose I'll try some ICS roms before I give up though.

Ha, thats funny, because about a year ago when I was looking for roms to put on this phone that was one of the first ICS roms I remember seeing and I actually got it to run and everything, I loved it too, although for some reason I didn't keep it I'm guessing because I had even less space than with stock or it could've just broke, I would say the first one though, (Edit: actually I think it was because something like the camera didn't work but whatever) but alrighty I'll give it another go and see about installing an apps2sd+ or int2sd script.

well I tried your rom and it sorta works.... it seemed to boot but.. the screen is black so I can't use it, although I guess something is wrong with my phone anyway, as some people have used that cmda fix and had success with multiple roms yet I can only get that one to work on it so I dunno whats going on with that... oh well one is better than none I suppose. (and I'm guessing asking for bulit in cmda support would be out of the question )
This wouldn't be because of the Hboot would it? the revolutionary hboot for cmda phones, I wouldn't think so since other users have it.
