Has anyone managed to play Dungeon Defenders flawlessly on the Desire yet? If so, HOW!!!
I personally am using supeROM HD 2.0 D2EXT which is rather fast but I still cant get the fps to stay smooth even in tablet mode and the graphics level on under 50%. Also without damage numbers.
So anyways, I'm certain I'm not the only one with this issue and was wondering what everyone else does to get it going with maybe a certain kernel or application.
ROM: SupeROM HD v.2
Kernel: HAVS Froyo Kernel V5f 1113Mhz max
SetCPU: max 1113Mhz (smartass) min 384
PS: I don't wanna use an AOSP rom to play a game =P
I get the feeling that the main issue is not which ROM you are using but the hardware from the Desire is simply not strong enough for Dungeon Defenders.
The snapdragon processor in the desire does not have a gpu capable to run dungeon defenders smoothly.

Thankfully I'm not a massive game player on my desire otherwise this fact would make me unhappy with the phone and start lusting after new hardware.
Other than the lack of GPU I think the original desire should be 'the standard' for a few years more. It does full screen flash internet and google maps with GPS, what more do these phones really need to do?
Not sure if the way forward is to have media players with built in phones/sim slots in stead of phones with medai capabilites...

Are you sure? It doesn't rub smoothly with the oxygen rom.
I think that the Miui Rom isn't much faster than oxygen

what's the best rom giving best performance for gaming? e.g. to reduce lags on asphalt 5 or 6?
e.g.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tURMjJ3q3Y4
Htc hd2 with custom rom is able to play asphalt 6 (though it's lagging) but on native stock desire, it lags like hell... should be able to run it at least like on hd2 as desire has the same hardware
I just installed the free version of 5 and I got no lag at all. My processor is overclocked to 1190MHz but that still shouldn't make much difference.
what rom are u using? have u tried asphalt 6? it requires more resources
I played Asphalt 6 on Oxygen 2.0.1 just fine. But its not butter smooth like on phones with better GPU. I'll say that as for gaming with more advanced games, Desire isn't powerful enough + the lack of multitouch doesnt give much of a gaming experience.
Asphalt 6 doesn't work too well.Desire isn't a gaming phone for a start so it has its limitations. You're looking for a dual core really

Although I haven't tried Asphalt on my phone, I'm more than happy with the games I run on my desire running GingerVillain but to lower the chances of lag I use SetCPU to overclock to 1113 MHz and change the governor to Performance. This gives me a quadrant score of 1355 which seems to run all the 3d games I want well enough. Probably not exactly what you wanted to hear but I thought it might give you a couple of options to try before binning your desire!
ok thx just bought the htc desire... other games work fine and are pretty good.. will play nfs shift instead which is quite good
Hey. I got grand 3 for incredible and it is really laggy and I have chainfire and all and still lag. Can someone please help me.
from a Droid incredible. Back from Hell.
Well, it runs like crap on my Incredible too. Is is suppose to be able to run it?
It's not made to run on the Incredible you need a more powerful cpu/gpu to play it properly like a Tegra 2 device.
Is there a app I can do that?
from a Droid incredible. back from Hell.
The Incredible has the Adreno 200. It will not play GTA III at any sort of a decent frame-rate. I have it on my iPod touch (64GB 4th gen) and my iPad (64GB OG), and it still lags horribly, and crashes very often due to running out of RAM. Funny to think about, considering it originally ran on a sub 300 MHz cpu with 32MB of RAM. Still runs great on my PS2 , and can be had for $5 at Gamestop.
However you can play 2D and lower end 3D games quite well. Installed Zombieville USA last night, runs just like it does on my iPod.
How do I lower to 2D.

I don't think you can lower GTA 3 to 2d.
Im pretty sure hes just suggesting you play a 2d game because it'll run much smoother.

The game runs fine on my phone. Kang'd cm7.
-My life is a shooting range, people never change-
I tried it on CM7.1 and it was pretty unplayable, not to mention it doesn't even show up in the market anymore ;p.
I got cynogen 7 and I got a app called GTA III setting and its wonderful.

Has anyone experienced slow DS emulation even with the 1.8 OC? I've been trying to run DSOID properly but my speed just sucks completely! I know its not the CPU since I get a 7000+ score on Quadrant, and its not the ROM. I'm using CleanROM which is stock. do you guys know what could be wrong with my setup?
What is you GPU clocked at? Also, you must remember that DSoid is still in development and you should only expect slowish speeds. Hopefully in the near future most games will be playable but not yet. Some games like Mario are very playable, so what game are you trying to play?

My GPU is clocked at 650 with fsync disabled and ondemand governor. I tried playing Pokemon Diamond and New Super Mario Bros, but both games where super slow.
The emulation engine is still a WIP. Until the dev for the app works out the best native emulation setup, most games will more than likely run that way. As the person above ,e said, the app is in very early stages. Stick with him and see how it evolves over time.

I can't get it to work at all. I load a rom and just get a white screen, even with the elite kernel.

Did you check out the app reviews? Slow for everybody right now, dsoid is a work in progress.
Dsoid is still very slow, I don't think that DS emulation will ever be up to par on the tablet market. I also doubt that Dsoid will be on the market for very long because it very clearly encourages piracy on a console that is still quite popular.
The Play store seems fine with emulators as long as you don't steal code. It's much more likely that the author will give up before making it playable. Still, I am very excited to see what DSoid can be.
I've played many high end Apps on my SGS2 for quite some time (IE:Shadow Gun, Modern Combat, etc) with no problem or lag whatsoever. But now a days it feels as if those same games feel rather laggy on my same phone. (Stock but rooted). I found Need For Speed Most Wanted to be rather fun but there are times where it lags very badly. Is this everyone? And if so.. How can I over clock but stay as stock as possible? A guide would be lovely. Thanks in advance

I have a few lag issues (unnoticeable). Maybe trying running an AOSP ROM like CM10 or AOKP? Also you could try the h0tcakez kernel, which also has GPU Overclock. Also trying using the CPU rendering = GPU rendering mod which helps to free up the CPU.
The adreno 220 chip in these phones is already past its prime guys. Be thankful the games even play half as well as they do.

Comments like the one above are just so pointless.. Go away .
It's true though, three GPU in or phone was nothing new when it went in in the first place... but is far from not being good enough to play these new games.
I have also been play NFS most wanted, but i have not had any of the slow Downs of lag your seeing. Granted i am on paranoid android with my CPU and GPU OC'd'... but my wife's sensation also plays it super smooth and i have her CPU undercloxked to help with battery same CPU and GPU...
The game shows incompatible on my SGH-T989 with kodoo stock 4.04 firmware.
can someone help me sort it out?
Where can I get NFS MW?

Hi,
With HD screen and a bit weak GPU some games don't run as smooth as they could on Xperia S. Is it possible to reduce resolution on 800x480 (not the actual screen but game itself) so it would run better?
Of course it would not look sharp as it could but it would increase performance and maybe lower device heating and battery usage.
Thanks in advance!
if small apps work I wouldnt see why normal apps wouldnt but might be hard to do.

I don't know which game are you talking about but I can play any game with 0 lag. And as the above guy has said, even on my mini I could play any game quite smoothly.
BTW, wrong section.

No you cant change the resolution. And i dont see any problem playing any game with my Xperia S. Maybe you got too much apps running.
I am using SlimBean and when I play game called Vector it runs too slow OC helped a little bit but still way too slow.
Rather weird considering that Vector is 2D game (parkour).
I have plenty of RAM and other apps run smoothly. I don't play anything else.
So that's a problem related to the game, it migh not handle good the resources. But reduce the resolution could be great for decrease the battery usage.

I have played the same game on OpenSEMC, and it had the lag you're mentioning. I think it has something to do with the fact that the phone has to process two "ragdolls" (the protagonist and its chaser). When, by means of power ups, you manage to get rid of the chaser for a while, the game runs considerably faster.
So, conclution is that Vector has some not-so-good optimized CPU usage and its physics engine requires some serious power (I9300 runs this game perfectly).
Thank you for your answers folks, still though it is shame that it is not possible to lower resolution, even just for the sake of lower battery consumption and/or less heating.
