WM6 Vanilla question

I just upgraded to WM6 Vanilla on my 8525. I now no longer have access to the internet through the 3G data service.. Also the keyboard is messed up.. I could careless for WM5.. this phone was seriously pissin me off with WM5.. it was so slow and froze up all the time.. etc. Things seem a lot faster with the WM6 Vanilla.. but I'd like to have more features..
I'd appreciate some help.. I read and searched as much as possible but most of these threads have 30+ pages
PS. Wireless doesn't work either.. the Wifi won't turn on.
I really want to keep WM6.. I just want the full features of WM5 along with it..

Perhaps you should do some more reading then. If you look at the thread with a title something like XDA Live issues (its in consolidated sticky), you'll find a fix for your keyboard - I'm assuming you're running an 8525 or whatever you US guys call it?
I don't know why you flashed Vanilla as well, you'd have been better off with XDA Live.
Your internet problem is due to not having the settings for your provider now. You might find the answer in a thread, there might be an ExtROM cab you can run to get the settings, or you might have to find them on the providers website and manually enter them.

I would like to keep PTT.

I just tried XDA... not appealing to me. I like Vanilla.. just not so damn plain.. wish it was full feature.

dont you get it...its not meant to have any extras just plain "vanilla", if you want extras just add them as most stuff wotrks if you install it, ive got vannila with only what i need, tomtom and my provider settings, and works perfect for me

So now the question is, how do I find out what cingulars 3G (EDGE) information is so I can get that working again.. and also how can I get Wifi working.. currently it will not even enable(turn on) the wifi...

Is there any way to allow the phone to have more than one data connection open at once?

Sorry to tell you, neither WM6 Rom supports PTT.
Actually Vanilla can't support it (need to swap some important system files and it can't be done with a cab file) whereas there are a couple of people working on getting it to work with WMXL (WM XDA Live)...

Help Please!!!

Can someone please tell me a good rom that will work on my ALLTEL CDMA TOUCH? Ive seen all kinds of roms on here but dont know which one will work if any. The main thing i want is WM 6.1 upgrade, and the main reason for that is the new internet explorer offered with it with the zoom capabilities and new media stuff. Can someone please list a couple even one really good rom in there opinion. Again its for the ALLTEL CDMA TOUCH.

I have the same question for the Verizon Touch. Although I am certainly willing to wait for the Rev A and GPS enabled ROM... I figured I would get some experience with these others first.
anyone... anyone?

dcd's rom is a good place to start. you will either have to implement the alltel customizations yourself or wait a few days until he gets the alltel version (and the others for that matter) back up, but its there, he made one

also, all the roms (that dont include radio's) will work for any carrier. the only things that might be added/missing/out of wack would be different proprietary media applications such as sprint tv or the ce os build may be slightly different. so basically it would be a littler nicer for you guys to wait for dcd to get his roms hosted somewhere again, but if you would like to try 6.1 in the mean-time, just download the kitchen, click buildnb.bat, select the components you want included in the rom, hit the little "play" button, wait, and flash away!

EDIT: and ppcgeeks.com has about 1000 custom roms, so i would really recommend looking there, there are some really great ones there.

also, this isnt for 6.1, but if you decided you are just going to wait for dcd to get an alltel version posted, you might do this in the meantime just to keep things running smoother and everything:

could you post a link to the dcd roms you were talking about? ive probably passed them up but havent found them. By the way theres a rev a rom thats for alltel listed on the first page. It works for verizon from what ive read but ask a senior member first. its got some minor cool tweaks besides rev a too.

also maybe post a link to a good 1 without the "radio" like u said?

Wanting to upgrade US Cellular Touch for GPS

So I just got a US Cellular HTC Touch. The radio version that USCC uses is too low for GPS to work. I am wanting to use GPS for Google Maps and Live Search.
#1. I want to backup my current stock rom, how can I do this?
#2. Must I flash to Alltel to enable the GPS?

Can someone please include us lonely us cellular customers out here? I am interested in roms too but not many offers. What is compatible with htc touch vogue cdma uscellular out here? Anyone? Pleez.

Hi. I am not an expert but I have US Cellular and have successfully updated both my radio and ROM. I have GPS working, albeit slow, on both google maps, IGO and TOMTOM. I accomplished all of my Vogue mods by searching both here and at PPCgeeks. If you have any SPECIFIC questions you are stumped on feel free to PM me and I will do my best to help you. I know it can seem overwhelming at first, but with enough research you will be building your own custom ROMs before you know it!

Yeah, it would be nice. I see a lot of tutorials for Verizon and Alltel but I don't see anything for USCC customers. upgrading this stuff is not something to take lightly and shouldn't be done without clear instructions. Leaving someone to search around and try different things is dangerous.
Can someone write up a USCC tutorial to enable GPS please?

okay the problem is i have an HTC DIAMOND handset, that is preloaded
with all "Telstra" setting on it all tho i am on the "3" network im just looking into how do i go about chaning the settings on the handset so i can use "3" on it.

sorry, i'm really not exactly sure what you're asking about... what settings you need to change? mms/gprs/etc? Have you tried running the network wizard under settings/connections..

okay sorry for the misunderstanding,
the problem is that my phone is all "preset" to all the other carries setting for the internet etc.
i went into connections/Network Wizard all tho its not in there.
The phone is unlocked so i can put any SIM CARD in it.
so all im asking if there's a way to get my own settings on it.
and change the ones that are on there. because i can't use the internet at the moment.

oh.. if it's not found in the network configuration program, then you can do it manually..
easiest way is to setup a prov xml file with your settings which will load them all in to your registry. You can search the site for details on that.
otherwise, i think the cab on the first post of this thread **may** be what you're looking for. hope it helps

questions about upgrading to a new rom

hello all...i have a couple questions and im hoping a few of you guys will take the time to help me out...thanks in advance
1. ive tried 3 or 4 new roms (juicy, mightymike, energys...)and for some reason the data connection turns on by itself...ive already checked to make sure that nothing is automatically updating (weather, stocks, etc) and theyre not....ive read that n 6.5 the data connection reads a on but its really not??? can someone help me out because my battery seems to be draining quickly.
2.battery life on the above mentioned roms seem to be not that great.
3.my phone runs at anywhere from 55 to 75 on boot up with the above mentioned roms. i tried using the no push inteernet cab and the ssk dynamic resource proxy cab but they dont seem to make a difference
4. i keep hearing about this program called XDA UC...i think i know what it does but im not 100% sure...will someone please elaborate on what this is, and how to use it (ive read the thread on xda about it but it looks like greek to me
5 i cant seem to get MMS to work on any rom what so ever....no sending or receiving...ive tried the "MMS FIXES" that are suppose to work, but they dont help unfortunately
6. on some roms the TF3D audio manager will work and on some it doesnt (and it wouldnt work on my verizon stock rom either)...i wish i could figure this out
i think thats it for now....please help people..this is definitely one of the most helpful, useful, and informative forums ive been on and as always i appreciate anyones input

In WVGA tweak select GPRS auto disconnect or do a search for GPRS autodisconnect app

Battery life is quite different on each ROM and also depends on the Radio version, test several combinations till you get the best results

6.5.1 ROM´s eat a lot of more memory, if not satisified try 6.5 or even better 6.1 ROM´s

It works to get an "image" for saying of your actual ROM so you can have the same "image" after you reflash installing alll automatically as it was before.
Never tested myself but worth to give it a shot
