Hi guys,
It all started when i decided to go back to the stock 2.2 ... Everything went smooth but all of the sudden my signals went in to emergency calls.. and then the nightmare happens .. I cant make/received calls, cant send/received sms, can't even get a 3g signal. The funny thing about it is when i am driving then the signal appears and i am able to get the 3g status and full signal but the nightmare is still there can't do anything of the above that i mention. ppl call and it says my phone is off .. i try to make a call and i get a beep and it stop. sms was even sadder as i gets notifications on mulitple attempts on sms failed .. but i have to press retry and it goes thru.. sms received was in delayed mode like 30 mins later... i read that i need to do a factory reset .. did that but to no avail. Check on the network settings ... try to set the network mode which shows GSM/WCDMA auto. now weird thing is when i set it up to GSM everything is ok i can received calls sms the full works i can even go online..but the thing is i dun get the 3g status no more .. set it up to wcdma nothing happens just gave me a warning that my sim card is not applicable with it.
When i set the network mode to GSM/WCDMA auto.. it goes back to the normal state shows me 3g and my signal line full but i cant go online cant received calls and etc. and it doesnt stop there after awhile say in 2 mins its goes NO signal and the emergency status comes up.
Have anyone run in to this problems before?...
just in case my phone is

Hi,
Thanks for the reply. Well i did check with the network settings and check the apn everything is in order. First try it was ok it was able to select my service provider and the 3g status appeared..it appears fine but just for 1 mins to 2 mins after that it switches back to no signal and emergency calls.... tested it to go online and it shows me no internet connections.
i tried to set up a new one and it shows me that there is no sim card ..i dunno what its is but i am pretty sure it isnt the sim card cos when i put in my sim card to my iphone 3gs it works fine...
Maybe you got a corrupt SIM-Card ... or your SIM is too old ...
Have you tried doing a full wipe? It solved many problems for me personally...
Hi thanks for the reply..
well it turns out the mother board inside the phone is the problem ..had to send back to where i purchase it and had them give me a new board..hmm now i am not sure what cause it.. i;m thinking it could be when i try to use other roms other then the stock ..but i am bend on trying other roms again lol the stock rom sucks at battery life ..lol thanks again for the help .. really appreciate it!!!
Cheers

Hi Guys,
To conserve the battery on my defy I enabled the "2G only" option but the moment i enable it, my signal bar shows only 2 bars and finally it goes to the emergency call mode. The signal strength is fine in other phones in the same area, It was working fine till last week. But this new issue started from past two days. Do you think the issue is related to service provider?
First i thought setvsel might be causing the issue but even after setting default values in setvsel i face the same issue, Also did a factory reset and reflashed the 1ff but still same issue. somebody please help me..
My MB525 has stock eclair rom, Rooted, and Airtel is my service provider.
If it worked, and you did not install a new SBF, or you did not changed things in your system, then it should not be your problem, you could be your provider problem. You should try with a new SIM card. It happend to me, that my SIM has broken, and i had not signal on my phone, and i had to replace it.
Other problem, could be some hardware problem, but you should check the SIM first, and do some more investigation.
Well.. it works fine if I set it to "automatic" mode, But the battery drains fast, since its 3G signal.
I reflashed the sbf after i got this issue. And you are right Ill try with another sim and see how it works..
or try the baseband switcher?
Its almost certain you have an incorrect baseband. ROMs Wrong baseband causes "red cross when switching between 2g only 3g only, 1 bar signal, drops in calls, slow 3g speed. etc."
Just install a baseband who's valid for your country and you are good to go
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=944258
In post number 71 you can download a program who install the desired baseband with the tap of a finger.
It worked... Thanks a lot unrafa

Hi everybody,
I have a big problem with my phone (or with my sim card).
Since 2 days, and without touching anything, my phone has a lot of difficulty to connect the Network that I'm registered to (Orange).
I'd got some connection problems like these ones :
- "Your sim card doesn't allow you to connect this network"
- When activating the 3G it stays on "activating" (even if I reboot the system and pull out the battery for few seconds)
- Non-send messages
So I decided to wipe all data and reinstall. It worked…but…the next day it restarts..!!
Do you think it's caused by an app or by rooting the phone with xtc-clip ?
My specs :
- S-OFF
- Rooted
- RUU_Marvel_S_HTC_Europe_2.13.401.2_Radio_47.23a.35.3035H_7.53.39.03M_release_225747_signed.exe
PS : the RUU has been installed with the sim card inside the phone of course.
Installing ruu with sim in shouldn't be a problem.
Easiest thing would be try another sim before deciding what to do next mate.
Thanks for replying.
In fact my phone network works again since I've created the topic but I don't know at all how ..
I've tried my girlfriend's SIM yesterday but it is a blackberry one and I don't why my phone doesn't accept it to register .. I will try again or use a friend SIM this week end.
BTW does your 3g connection make about 5sec to be activated ? Before the problem appears in 1/2 sec I've got the 3g. Now it's more, but it works.
This is not an APN problem 'cause they're all OK and for messages it's not a problem from message center since it's OK.
So I am always wondering how the phone could have this behavior without any changes.
If it makes the same again, I will call my operator to know more about it and will make a feedback here.
It could well be network/operator related maybe they have a problem.
Anyway main thing is your back up and working again.
The problem isn't resolved unhopefully... It doesn't work at home .. Sometimes yes, and the rest of the time no network (even if I got all the bars of the network and the Edge Logo) and I can't do anything.
I called the operator yesterday, they say my SIM card was defective so I went to the operator's shop and they changed the SIM card.
But back at home, it doesn't work again .. And now I'm at my job's office and it works again ..
So I conclude that there is a network problem in my block of flats ?
I will call back them tonight to see what they tell to me and will make a feedback here.
Also I tried to swap phone, the same problem with my old Sony Ericsson.
I put my SIM in my girlfriend's Blackberry (network used to work for her), and it does'nt work. Then when she puts back her SIM card, she had no network as me...
So could it be a hack of SIM card to prevent you having network at home ? (it could seem a lil bit paranoiac I know ^^)

I don't think so mate.
More probable is that the mast that provides data that is closest to your home is at fault.
I would just make sure to report it and I'm sure others will have issues, so your provider should investigate and provide a solution.

I called the network provider, they say they will call me tomorrow for me to talk with a technician.
BTW my girlfriend called them earlier and they say this is a problem due to the residence.
I tried to ask them if there is a problem with the mast, they said it seems to be normal and network works well in my area...
But the network is fine out.. In the appartment it works about 10/15mins per hour ...
For the "SIM Hack" suggestion I told you, do you think this is possible ? (I doubt because no problem out ..)
Let's wait and see ! If you have any suggestions, don't hesitate !
Thanks for the support though !
Edit : always all the bars of network and E logo just sending, not receiving when it doesn't work.
Maybe your building is a blackspot meaning signal is not passing through happens to me indoors with wifi.
And where I live in a small village I can't get a good data signal indoors.
I have to turn off 3g altogether and opt for 2g only as it gives me better call signal.
But if I walk for 10 mins towards town I can switch to 3g and its perfect.
I would just wait to speak to the tech guys and see what they say.
Oh and forgot to mention my operator reduced my monthly bill due to my poor signal, haha.
Good luck hope they sort it for you.
If not try a different network sim just as a test.
The strange fact is that it used to work perfect in the building.
There are problems for about 4 days now.
When I forced 3G using "WCDMA only", it seems the signal was better and not blocked on E/G.
And now I turned it back to Auto and it works .. I don't understand what the **** is happening... !! It comes back to 3G/H.. but sometimes it fails again ..
I will wait for the tech guys, and if it's not solvable I guess I would ask for a commercial act such as yours !
Moreover this week, friends will come so we will see if they've got network (I believe they're at the same network provider, no luck ^^) .. !
Thanks for your support again mate, really appreciated !
My phone just started doing the same thing. Its a stock phone.
Finally nobody called me back but the network came back so no more problem now.. How ?? I simply don't know .. Good job "Orange".. !
Thanks for support though

If you want help, you need to tell us more details, such as what software/firmware version you are using, network carrier, what actually happens when you get no service, if it's rooted, etc.
Basically, the more information, the better.
Anyways, I have that random no service with the Australian Optus network, even though it says on the phone that I have full bar reception. Sometimes it's just the network.

"Not allowed" suggests a SIM problem.
Either the SIM has gone bad and you need to request another one from your network, or the SIM connection on your handset is dodgy.
The SIM governs what you can and can't connect to. If it's not allowing you to choose a network then it's not reading the information from the SIM properly.

trying auto(network) mode now
1.29.401.12 and the newest 2.17 update have new radios i hear
maybe that will fix the problem,
thats my next step.wait for the ota
same thing
exactly the same issue

i have sense 4+ (i thought the new update will fix this)
Hey Guys
I rooted and put custom ROM on my brother's HTC Desire... It's an unbranded UK phone..
I have put Supernova Latest ROM and then had also s-offed via revolutionary and put latest radio 5.17.05.23
We both have same prepaid 3G sim.. My phone is iPhone 4S. his phone just simply fails to catch 3G/H network and always shows E.. my phone (iphone) always shows 3G network.. even multiple reboots does not fix his problem (or airplane mode on/off).. i think it did show H once briefly for sometime and then simple falls back to E and is stuck on E
I reverted radio to his original one (5.11.05.27) but the same thing..
How can I fix this? or is it that Desire chipset is just weaker than my phone..
My problem is when he returns to his country and puts his SIM in it and if he does not get 3G there as well (which he is sure of that he gets).. it can be a problem for me to fix his phone as I will not be with him
Any suggestions on how to fix this??
Not sure if this would work...
Open dial pad and punch in *#*#4636#*#*
Then check Phone Info then look for the network type dropdown box.
via xda app

i do that and nothing, i have the same problem
Hi Guys.
So received the phone on Thursday, Friday I did a sim swap from my normal sized sim to a micro sim. I waited the whole day but the phone didn't have any network access.
Today when I woke up I I switched the phone on hoping that everything will be fine, thinking the simswap just hasn't gone through yet, still no network access. I took out the swim from the phone and switched with my ipad, the sim was working in the ipad, and the ipads sim also didnt give the phone network access.
In the top right corner it shows full bars in grey, cant make emergency calls or anyhting.
In the about section of the phone, I have ALL the details present, baseband version is there, kernel version is there.
In Status section, network is unkown, signal strenght is -83 dbm 15 asu, network type unkown, service state is out of service, and the rest is also present.
I thought the phone didn't properly register to a network, so went into settings - wireless networks - more settings - mobile networks, but it gives me a insert sim card message.
The phone is reading the simcard fine because it asked for the PIN when switching on.
When trying to make a call I get, it says "Not registered on network"..
So what am I to do? Vodacom can only pickup the phone and exchange it on Tuesday, so was hoping that this might just be a software issue that can be resolved by a flash.
I have tried resetting / hard resetting the phone numerous times.
Its the Note 2 N7105 LTE Version
Any help would be highly appreciated.

Great thanks.
I tried this but didn't solve the problem. I am using the same sim that I received from the carrier with the phone they shipped.
I have played around in the menu however, maunally setting the band and so forth, just restarted and started receiving sms, so basically if not for your post I would not have solved this.
Thanks
I have isolated the problem.
In the service menu - UMTS - DEBUG SCREEN - PHONE CONTROL - NETWORK CONTROL - SERVICE DOMAIN
There are 3 options
1 CS + PS
2 CS ONLY
3 PS ONLY
CS seems to be for making calls and sending smses
PS seems to be for data connections (When this is selected, the bars are replaced with a circle with a stripe through)
I Could be wrong with the above, so anyone with experience please shed some light
Those 2 work seperately, but when CS + PS is selected, none of them work? Very odd, anyone know what the issue could be?
anyone?
