help me ?? - Desire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm sorry I did not know the subject opened up in the wrong place, I had installed the HTC Rom ICmix HD ace, then turned to the original rom, I put a new memory card, and SD card does not recognize and give error “remove the memory card ”, looking for a USB connection and the connection not happening when I Qualcomm Driver
My phone has fad32 single partition file system version 0.80 Hboot phone brand HTC Desire

I dont understand.. are you saying you were on RCMixHD (which requires ext partitions on your SD card to run) but you went back to an original rom with a new memory card which does not require sd ext partitions but it wont read the card.
If its a case of android not mounting hence reading the card, the easiest however most volatile way of doing it is to reformat using Panasonic SDFormatter.exe for windows. Stick the memory card in a micro SD usb dongle and run the app. This wipes the whole card and formats it in FAT32 and is the only way I've found to do it when android wont mount it.

[Q] cant access sd card

Hi can any one help i tried to install the desire hd rom, the instructions suggested partitioning sd card before installing the rom
which i tried to do using Mini tool partition wizard unfortunetly after wiping partition and the creating new partion my sd card would not mount as i wasnt sure if i should have formated the sd card at this point as that option was still available. but the instructions didnt mention wether i should have formated after creating new partition.
So anyway to cut a long story short i switched the phone of instead, hoping that when i restarted it i would be able to mount the sd card. But now i had a new problem my phone now would not detect my sd card altogether
Does any one know how i can make my sd card detectable again or will i need to fork out for a new sd card
Have you tried it in another device, say a PC card reader?
Had the same issue. Everything worked fine after formatting the SD card with Gparted. What I did wrong is that I made 3 EXT4 partitions for Data2SD and the computer didn't recognize the card. Used Recovery to mount the card and Gparted to repartition it. Everything worked fine afterwards.
yes sort of tried my friends sd card in my desire and it detected it so its definetly the my sd card that faulty
thanks for replying to my message i tried mounting the sd card in recovery using recovery manager but my phone wont mount it as it not detecting the sdcard do you think i might have better luck with gparted and if so do you have a link where i might be abe to down load it.

SD card corrupted or ROM provlem

Hello,
There seams to be a provlem with my SD card. I have an imation 16GB class 10 card. I bought it from ebay (not a really chip one) and i am a bit ambigious about its reliability.
It happened me twice to connect either the phone as a USB mass storage or the card directly from a card reader to my PC and afterwards my SD cannot be recognized by the phone. Whatever i try the android does not recognize it ... and i have to repartition it.
The strange thing is that the CWM recovery recognised the corrupted FAT32 partition when this occured. I could even restore a nandroid backup which was installed without problem except from the "Empty SD slot" message ...
Also my windows recognize the FAT32 partition.
Do you think that this is a provlem of my SD (bad sectors maybe or corrupted partition tables) or a bug on the drivers of the ROM that mount the card?
Have you tried doing a slow format and run a diskcheck on it?
Also, it might be your system corrupting it if you remove it without dismounting it first.

Q : Can i format my SD card in my DHD?

Good day all,
I am using a DHD
ROOTED
S-OFF, ENG-OFF
Clorkworkmod V5
Custom ROM: LeeDroid
Can i format my memory stick through my phone itself?
Will clockworkmod gets deleted through the process?
One of my bad past experience is when i formated the memory stick using a PC and when i put the stick back into the DHD, the phone refuse to boot. So can i assume it will be safe to reformat the SD card on the phone instead?
I've always done it by mounting the SD card when plugged via USB. Right click the removable disk and format. Always worked for me.
clockwork is on your phone Memory you cannot deleted by formatting your SD card

[Q] MildWild 5.0 and unrecognized SD card?

Hey everyone,
It's my first time rooting my Desire. I followed the "noob proof" guide, skipping the S-OFF step (figured I don't really need it if I'm just flashing ROMs).
I partitioned my SD card successfully (16GB -> 14GB FAT32, 1GB EXT4) using GParted and the card was working well. I made a backup and then flashed MildWild 5.0. Everything seems to be working fine except the SD card is not recognized. In Storage settings the "Mount SD card" option is grayed out and it says "Insert an SD card for mounting". I tried restarting the phone, reinserting the card, but that didn't work.
On a side note, when I partitioned the card first and ran stock rom I couldn't mount the card too, but the option wasn't grayed out, and after a restart it was OK - capacity and free space was reported correctly.
I guess it's a problem with the partitioning, but is there anything I could try before repartitioning the card again? This might be a logical way of dealing with the current situation (card is completely empty), but what if this happens again after using the phone for a while and storing all kinds of stuff on the card?
PS. I haven't tried to see if the card is visible in windows, because I don't have a card reader. I'll try GParted again tomorrow, but now I'm off to bed.
Thanks!
I had the exact same problem and fixed it by putting the card in a card reader, and running the "Scan drive for errors" tool in Windows. It found errors the first time, and I ran it twice to be safe.
Hi,
I managed to connect the card my PC by mounting USB storage in ClockworkMod recovery. I scanned the disk for errors but there were none. Unfortunately after rebooting the device still couldn't see the card.
Also while in recovery I could mount the sdcard and sd-ext, or at least appeared that I could - the lines changed to "unmount (...)" but there was no notification of successful or failed mounting.
What should I try next? Repartition with GParted (probably by mounting usb storage in recovery, otherwise it's not recognized there either) or try that with ClockworkMod? Or perhaps 4EXT?
Thanks!
OK, I tried partitioning the card again with GParted, but nothing changed. I am beginning to think something might be wrong with the card.
And after some reading I understand that partitioning with CWM isn't favored by most, so eventually I might try 4EXT. In that case, do I need S-OFF to install it? The question has been asked in the developer's thread recently, but no one has answer it and a few other threads seem to suggest that you don't necessarily need S-OFF, unless you would like to use some specific feature(s).
So do you need S-OFF to install 4EXT on the Desire or not?

SD card bugged after upgrading to marshmallow

Hi, I recently upgraded to CM13 (Marshmallow) to have a look at the new features. One of those was the new SD card management. I decided to format my sd card and make it part of the internal memory but something went wrong and i ended up with a 15mb sd card (instead of it's original 16GB) that I can't reformat in any way. I downgraded back to lollipop hoping I could format the SD there and recover my lost memory space but I can't manage to do it. I tried with many root apps on play store for that purpouse but none of them worked. I think it's maybe because marshmallow encripts the sd card before formatting it but I dont know how to remove that encription.
Anyone has any idea of what can I do to solve this? Thanks.
Make a format on PC. You'll lost your data whatever, but I think it may help ? but the best way for you is to flash another rom. I think.
You have to recreate the partitions on your SD. If you have a USB adapter, you can just do it in your PC (via right click on Computer, Manage and Disk Management or fdisk in linux). If you don't have a USB adapter, you can try to recreate via TWRP (I never tested this).
Delete all partitions and create just one VFAT/NTFS/exFAT
The problem is that I dont have a usb adapter or card reader and if i plug it via phone it doesnt detect it as mass storage so i can't format from there.
Go ahead and buy a USB Card Reader they are super cheap and handy.
