Patch to Unlock Samsung Omnia?

Recently switched back to Windows Mobile (Samsung Omnia) but it's locked to Vodafone UK. My question is, is there a similar patch around here that can unlock the phone, just like the patch i used last time to unlock my Hermes which was on Vodafone UK as well. Cause from searching the forums, buying the unlocking codes seem to be the only option to unlock Omnia.
As Omnia's on Windows Mobile as well, I believe there could be a patch, but couldn't find it even after searching. Can anyone point me to the right direction please?

Will flashing a new ROM help? If not, how bout flashing a RADIO? Is flashing ROMS/RADIOS on Omnia done the same way as flashing on HTC phones such as (hermes)? I remembered back then, I needed to enter into a bootloader menu. And also flashing HardSPL before that

as of yet its not really that well known, i think flashing custom roms may help but not the official ones

My preliminary thoughts are that if I flash a custom ROM, I can debrand any WinMo phones. Since it's debranded, it'll be unlocked. Am I right on this one?
I'm used to HTC phones, and I know bout the HardSPL and stuff like that. How about the Omnia? Has it got a specific procedure or steps to take before flasing roms to minimize the chances of bricking it?

No, it won't be unlocked.

Debranding has NOTHING to do with unlocking.

Ok so flashing a custom ROM now won't unlock, just debrand? Is there a program out there that can unlock it? Cause its running on Winmo, so I assumed unlocking it wont be that difficult.

I was just wondering if there were any drawbacks to debranding a phone just to get the update?

Eh, I dont know what version you get when you update officially but it may be different... I really doubt there's any drawbacks though.

That's what I am gathering and it makes sense if Microsoft wants to keep the WP7 together as a whole.

The drawback is you don't get updated apps from your carrier + phone manufacturer. But all you have to do is rebrand it and just download the apps from the market, if you really want them.

Now that is what I was expecting. I have my phone unlocked with the Chevron tool and if in the future I can't add back that string then I am hosed?
Will I at least keep the registry editor on the phone through the update process so I can then change it back?

If you do the little hack to prevent re-locking (via Samsung Tools or the registry edit), the unlocked state should persist across the NoDo update as long as you don't do a hard reset. You won't, however, be able to use Chevron to unlock if you hard-reset the phone or otherwise manage to re-lock it after installing NoDo.
As for carrier apps, I can still access the AT&T AppCenter, useless as their stuff may be. That's either based on a different registry entry or on your SIM card, not on this update branding entry. I haven't been able to discern any effects other than whether the update servers will give you the updates or not.

All of your information will be backed up and carry over to the new update, don't worry about that.

Do you know where that regedit is off the top of your head? I never applied it in the past so I have always had my Chevron unlocked phone relock after a week or two.
I will also look around here but thought I would ask you first.

MyAT&T runs on any phone, as long as you have a network connection.
I think there is no drawback to unbrand. AT&T provides nothing other than update delay.

Does anyone know of the exact registry value that gets changed to prevent the relocking?
I know that the Samsung Tools will write the value but I can't find out what it changes.
I'm just trying to find it so it can be posted here and we can get it out to others before they update to NoDo.

i dont want to have the nodo update but i updated is it possible to remove nodo after update? or downgrade or something like this... i have no unlock now and the games the market are tooooo expensive...

1. Stop wasting time on this board
2. Apply for a part time job
3. Get job
4. Use cash from job to pay developers for their work

We don't know you, but we can judge you based off of your posts. If you are not willing to take a chance on a 6buck game, then don't.
But when you come on here advocating piracy, you will get flamed and possible banned. I wonder if you ever went back and bought any of those games after "trialing" them.... I bet not.

I have a Italian htc mozart with nodo.

I have a HTC Mozart from the German T-Mobile.
Because it took me to much time to wait for NoDo I flashed with a HTC debranded Rom and made the update to NoDo.
Now I would like to go back to the Build 7004 of the debranded Rom to make the unlock / jailbreak and later update to NoDo.
So I thougt I just flash the debranded Rom over my current NoDo Phone.
But everytime I flash it, there is still NoDo!!!
The Rom didn't had NoDo when I flashed it in the first place. It seems like flashing doesn't work or the Phone updates it self during the first start up.
I tried it more than one time.
Flashing back to the original T-Mobile Rom brings me back to Build 7004. But when I flash now the debrandet Rom it will be NoDo!
Anybody have an idea?

I have known enough of the HTC hardware architecture over the years to realize that re-imaging should be a no-brainer but also that the devil is in the partitions. However, for some unexplained reason, Mr. Watson's note/warning makes me wonder if reflashing will actually leave it just as new...

Are you flashing using all the nbh files (meaning, *all* partitions)? What tool are you using to flash? Maybe that scenario is what he describes in his post, where there are leftovers? {however should not apply if flashing} But, you say that using the original ROM does bring everything back to 7004. Odd indeed.
As a final note and taking a different approach, check http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=671743. He mentions that when dumping there is a bunch of unkown partitions. What if the update stored some update-related stuff, applicable only to the unbranded version (in other words, those alledged update bits being version specific)? Such a conspiracy theory would suit your scenario.

Maybe I can solve the problem flashing another Rom from this site. It really seems like there is a rest of the NoDo-Update on the Phone for the HTC Rom.
But even when I flash down to 7004 with the T-Mobile Rom the NoDo pieces will stay.
A friend using Android asked me if it's not possible to set an option to erase the whole phone before flashing. That could be an option but I'm not sure if it's available on Windows Phone.
OK, I will work with the T-Mobile Rom. Do you think it will work installing NoDo and later flash back to the 7004 Version?

Hi there, to be honest I have no clue. I suspect your friend is a Samsung user (I have 3 devices) and yes you can repartition a Samsung and very easily mess it up beyond almost almost any help. I have never seen a repartitionable HTC device but my knowledge at such low level is quite superficial. From the bootloader viewpoint they do seem almost identical (newer versions aside) to me.

Losing features upon bootloader unlock/root?

Hey everyone,
I've tried to google around and search the forums on XDA but there is no straight up answer to some questions I have. This is the first HTC device I own and although I have been rooting/unlocking devices since the Nexus 4, I am afraid to go ahead with this one. I just wanted the answers to the following questions, if anyone here knows them please:
1. Unlocking the bootloader seems straight-forward and supported by HTC. I'm in the UK which means no Uh-Oh protection. If something was to happen to the device and I sent it back under warranty, would I be ****ed or would HTC replace/repair it? HTC UK's call center was worse than useless and HTC US' policy doesn't apply to us so I thought I should ask here.
2. Does unlocking the bootloader and rooting mean I will lose access to the fingerprint scanner, camera quality or anything 'stock'? I know Android Pay won't work but at the moment I am not too bothered either way because it's a hit and miss thing with it.
3. Finally, is there a way to completely revert unlocking the phone/s-off and going back to S-ON/Locked without any signs of having messed around with the device? I ask in relation to question 1. If unlocking the bootloader voids the warranty for UK users, is there a way to go back to stock and make the phone as though NOTHING was done to it?
Thank you to anyone who helps answer even 1 of these questions :victory:. I want to root and get xposed onto my new device but not at the cost of losing features on a brand new phone or losing warranty on it either :silly:

1. I can't comment on this simply because I don't know and don't want to spread false information.
2. You will not lose any features at all. In fact, I'm running a bootloader unlocked and rooted setup and Android Pay still seems to work fine for me. It let me add a debit card but I haven't yet been able to actually try to purchase something.
3. Yes, if you are S-Off you can completely revert back to a locked bootloader with S-On if you want to.
I'd recommend both unlocking and S-Off so you can revert back to stock in the future for a warranty claim just to be safe.

Hey, thanks for the reply! Only just saw this, not sure why it didn't notify me.
Right no worries about point one seeing as point 3 makes it irrelevant if I can revert back and save my warranty anyway. Just to be sure on points 2 and 3, I can definitely 100% go back to Locked/S-On status and the system won't show I have messed around at all? As for Android Pay, that's cool! Did you set it up before or after rooting? And does your fingerprint scanner work? Can you make payments on google play by authorising with your fingerprint?

For Android Pay, I had initially set it up prior to rooting but the rooting process wiped my phone. I had no issues setting it up again on a freshly rooted install.
Google Play and every other app that uses it still fully supports authorization via fingerprint. From what I can tell, I have lost absolutely no features by rooting. There really is nothing to lose once you get past the initial phone wipe that occurs when you unlock the bootloader.

Ah that's great! Would've thought HTC would implement some kind of security thing where rooting may cause the fingerprint scanner to not work like Samsung/Sony have. Good on HTC :highfive: I'm gonna start reading up now and unlock/s-off/root the phone in the next few hours! :fingers-crossed:

OEM Unlocking Disaster! A716U Now Infected with Infamous com.android.ui Malware...Help

So, after downloading 100 files and extracting 100 files I finally realized thanks to the wonderful gents over here at XDA that my A716U has a locked bootloader, After shredding everything I own, I decided to cool off and write to my fellow mod fans and see what my options are....
To keep it short, my smart idea to keep my OEM Unlocking ticked while tethering on my A716U has left me frantic my identity will now be slashed all over the dark web after I realized the constant battery draining and unknown apps being installed on my device have been the sole reason of my frustrations with my A716U. I've tried factory reset both from the settings and in recovery mode, no security app seems to fully delete the malware files and after time the problem persists.
I'm really not looking to root my phone and only wanted to give it a fresh wipe and start from scratch without the havoc I've had to deal with recently on my device, If someone could please assist me in possibly getting this matter resolved without having to fork over the funds to unlock the bootloader with the DID number I have read about. Your efforts would be more then appreciated. I hate to add to my dilemma, but before I get rapped on forum talk let me just say ahead of time that I'm a fresh newbie to this tech, but can understand common sense when it comes to understanding how to follow directions, just bare with me on the sam2021 lingo if I may ask in advance? Thanks guys!

nvm the reason i was having troublw was because i was entring the bootloader from recovery mode.

Unlocked firmware does not mean bootloader unlocked. In order to root you will have to unlock bootloader.
