[Q] Enter Key to Send Text Stock App - Epic 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I keep seeing posts for this in other forums MyTouch 4g, etc. But no answers as to if a simple change can do it. I am trying to stay with the stock messaging app, but want to be able to send a text by hitting enter on the physical keyboard. I searched for this around a few different forums not just xda and couldn't find a definite answer. I would really like this functionality in the stock app if possible.

Is it possible to search threded texts?

Unthreaded search is awesome... works just as well for emails too. Just start typing.
But if the texts are threaded, I can't search, or at least I don't know how to. I can bring up the individual threads but I don't seem to be able to search inside those either. Anyone know?
bumpiti bump

Texts are all mixed up

I remember this happening to my rooted g1 with the slow and sort of crappy sense ui installed; so when my wife complained that her text messages on her Slide dont go in order i was shocked that the problem STILL exists.
I didnt see a thread about it here, sorry if i missed it. Anyone else have text message conversations where the texts are out of order? Phone is stock btw
I appear to have that same problem too, but I'm using stock Android right now. If we have the same problem I can elaborate on it more.
My problem seems to be that if I get a text message reply from someone and it's in the same minute as the last text message I sent the person, their text will go above mine, even though they sent their's after I sent my text.
So for example: I send a text to somebody at 3:20:15PM and that person sends a text to me at 3:20:55PM, their text will go above my 3:20 text, making it look like they sent the message first.
I had this problem as well, before my phone was rooted and even after. The only solution i have found is to install a different SMS app, which i use Handcent because its the closest to the stock app, and its free.
interesting, my wifes is stock and she said it happened with texts that were no more than a minute apart as you mentioned.
i just cannot believe this is still a problem. Sense UI is neat but this sure seems like a fundamental feature that shouldnt have such issues...
same thing has been happening to my texts, before and after root.
i can say the same thing happens to me also

[Q] Raise "Message" Recipients Limit

Hi I've searched around in different Android sense areas and can't seem to find an answer so I'm asking it, please if I missed it point me in the right direction.
I have a new Droid Incredible, just switched over from a Touch Pro 2, and I love it except for the fact that SMS Recipients is capped at 10. On the WinMo phone you could go in a tweak the registry to allow however many you wanted. On Android is there a way to do this? I plan on rooting it so that won't be a problem if I need too. I've read to use Handcent (has been giving me annoying pop-ups) or ChompSMS but I'd prefer just be able to use Messages.
I dont have a sense rom anymore, but if I remember correctly, it's as simple as going into messages..pressing menu..pull up settings, and then think with storage settings. You should be able to adjust the limit per thread and conversation numbers. Let me know if I am delusional..but I'm pretty sure that's it.
I've found that and theres a place where I can limit the amount of sms and mms's however nothing about recipients anywhere Any other ideas?
Anyone else have ideas? I'm using Handcent but after I send one message it acts like my group is empty and I have to restart the phone. Chomp was sending double messages, are there any other programs or methods out there? The group has 58 members

Stock MMS and Handcent, Go SMS etc probs

I used to have a mytouch 4G and liked it, recently upgraded to the Galaxy S3, love it. Now my problem is, the only reason I put a password on my phone is to protect my text messages. I used to use the Go SMS on my mt4G but now the pictures don't show up on the contacts on any of the apps I have tried to use, such as Handcent and Go SMS. And it really bothers me...anyway to fix it or put a password on stock messaging? And another question, I'll start a different thread for it too. Don't mind the password, since it protects my phone, but is it possible for my camera to bypass the thing and just go straight to it and require no password? Like the iPhone, then ask for the password when I'm trying to exit out or look at the gallery, quick function type thing. Thanks in advance for viewing or answering or..anything! cheers.

[Q] SMS notifications on Note II

Ok, long story short.. 2.8yrs of an EVO4G and an easy way to assign SMS notifications to contacts. I cannot for the life of me find a Google link to do this on the Note 2 that works. I've tried Handcent to no avail. I'm just looking for a way to assign a custom sound (as if from a soundboard) to a contact strictly for SMS msgs. I could spend all night looking for the right combo, but thought I'd finally break down and post a ? here.. This site has always had my answers for the EVO4G, but I can't find it for the Note 2 on Sprint.
Any help much appreciated!
Eric
Edit: Must have just been impatient. On my EVO4G I was able to long press from most soundboards to assign it to a contact. On the Note 2 it's a little more complex, having to install the notification first, then go into Handcent and assign it, then having to go back and change the default notifiction for the phone so that tone only rings for the contact, and not for every event on the phone.
Go SMS will let you assign custom sounds to individual contacts.

Click to collapse
That is going to be dependent on how the soundboard is set up...not really Nything to do with the phone. The "better" way would be rather than use soundboards (which do not always give you direct access to the sound from handcent) use zedge to find the tone you want and then handcent or zedge to assign them. Soundboards are typically some of the simplest crudest apps on the market..and each is going to vary in ability
