What am I missing here? If I try to open the .apk on my phone, it goes to Application Manager, but does not give the option to install.
i found it on my SDcard with file manager and it installed perfectly fine.
Application is displayed in chinese if my phone is set to german
Newbie here. Sorry if this is a dumb question but do you have to be rooted to use this?

anyone else on cyanogem 7 nightly number 2 or any other rom have problems with the camera not saving to the album, then maybe a day later the pics show up or after a reboot they show up?
is there a better gallery than this 3D gallery, i hate this photo gallery it absolutely is slow and ****ty
Anyone? I have resorted to using file manager to look for pics. This nexus 1 3d gallery sucks tiny monkey dung.

There are a number of threads about this. Sometimes you have to force a rescan of the media on your SD card for it to properly show up (lots of apps out on the market like Rescan Media among others will do it). Since you have CM, there is probably an option in the Dev Tools app that will do it as well (I'm still on CM6, but I assume CM7 has it as well).
As far as a different gallery goes, the APK for the 2D Gallery was posted in the app forum (personally, I found it better than the 3D one). There are also other apps on the market you can try. I've been using the app QuickPic for a while now and have been pretty happy with it.
Thanks for the info on the 2d app...unfortunatley I cannot find it trying to search from xda app and I don't know what its exactly called either to try and properly search for it.

I just installed this, and am LOVING it... why didn't i know about this a while ago?!
Thanks!
Just picked up the device. No Google Talk video chat? Only Qik!?
you can certainly download the apk and install it
it's floating all over XDA forum, just google it
i have the new apk and to install it i woud have to uninstall the old one but i dont no if i uninstall the old one the new one might no let me install
I am pretty sure root is required for this, which we do not have yet.
Root would be required correct? Qik isn't horrible by any means. But google isn't certainly better.
Sent from my SGH-T989 using XDA App
You would need root to install the apk plus the library file that needs to go into /system/lib .
yea u would need root u cant uninstll the old one and when u try to install the new one u cant because its already on the phone so i tried root explorer and u cant do it that way the system has read only
Google Talk Video Chat
Hey guys,
My friends epic 4g touch has a video chat feature in the Talk app. I checked my app, and it didn't have that feature. I did a quick search and saw that it was an update that came with 2.3.4. We have 2.3.5....
Any ideas?
Sent from my SGH-T989 using XDA App
You can use VTok on android market. Tried it and it worked fine for a while. It then froze up. Qik sucks.
There is a new one I was reading about somewhere called ChatOn, it is in the Marketplace I think... at any rate, you can chat across platforms, like SGS2 to IOS for instance. Have not had a chance to try it yet.
Got Root, now,,
Anyone find an apk that works with our phones?
Really need this

Hey guys I need. Some help....so I like swype on froyo cuz I got use to the fast writting and stuff and I was wondering how can I get that for every rom I flash...I've tried the markets *slideit keyboards* yeah they aren't quite like swype...I've also tried taking out the apk file from backup and installing it but it never work either the swype don't wok or it forcecloses..so inconclusion can someone please update me on how to do this so swype works..
-thanks in advance -_-
Sent from my HTC Vision using xda premium
Go to www.beta.swype.com and register as a beta user. That's all you need to do.
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G using XDA App
Swype works fine on Gingerbread, its what I use.
If the Swype APK is pulled from another ROM, it might be the wrong version, and not compatible with GB. Easiest way to get Swype is to just sign up at the Swype beta website like the previous response stated. Then it will send the installer to your phone, which will install Swype, and you will be good to go.
Tanks guys worked great although it took a while for the email to come

If you haven't yet heard, Adobe is ending all support for mobile Flash entirely on August 15th, 2012 (tomorrow). This includes stopping all new downloads of Flash, which means removal of the Flash apk from the Google Play Store. Since we're all enterprising smartphone users who still want to use Flash, I request that someone post the stock apk file. Even if we have backups like Titanium for the system data, it's nice to have a clean apk to download from for our future phones, especially since mobile Flash effective has no future.
Thanks in advance.
Google search for the apk. I know for a fact it's posted in many threads in the Nexus 7 forum.
Here is Adobe Flash 11 on Box.

Honestly, I'm surprised how many people downloaded this from my box account.

Anyone having major problems with flash player working? I can't seem to get it to work. I installd and restored like 3 different versions and they all do the same thing. When I open a page with a flash video in it it appears normal (a white box with the little download symbol thingy in the middle) but when I press the video it shows a little blue box with a "x" in it I think or something like that. I've also tried different roms (a tw rom and cm9) and I get the samee result.

Am I the only one who paid attention when Adobe said flash will no longer accept new installs but you can find it in the archives?
Go to adobe.com and click downloads and then flash and choose android...it'll take you to the playstore to download it.
I did it andits working flawlessly on cm9.1 however its not in the "my apps" list in the play store

I suspected that, but would have expected it to say it required flash. Instead of the device isn't compatible. Will try flash.
Edit... no flash player on playstore... thanks for the download link.
Edit 2. Nope. Still says device not compatible.
I think BBC iPlayer normally needs to detect your device name and if it doesn't know it , it doesn't let you join the party.

Hey ppl
My Note 2 arrives tomorrow so thought id check on BBC iplayer since there's no flash and i found this. I'm not very techy and mostly iphone user past few years so forgive me if this sounds dumb...
what is apk? I don't want to boot or install a custom rom or any of the fancy things I see on here as I'm not advanced enough to do so.
The links you post above for flash and something else? Do you need a custom rom for these?
I was hoping I could just download an app to watch iplayer but is it not a simple thing to do?
Would appreciate your help.
Thanks
Nick
Toy cam Jay download the BBC media player app from play store and it will link you directly to the BBC iplayer for mobile. It does work.

an .apk is basically the application itself.
Adobe don't support Flash on Jellybean (Android 4.1) so the BBC iPlayer app says it's not compatible with the note 2 if you search for it in the Play store.
To get around this, all you have to do is go to Settings > Security and tick "Unkown sources Allow installation of non-Market apps"
Then you go back to stesteste's post on page 1 of this thread and download the two files (install_flash_player_ics.apk and bbc.iplayer.android.apk) and put them somewhere on your phone.
Then use a file manager to open the files, and you should be prompted to install them (install the flash player apk first, then the iplayer one) and you'll have iplayer working fine.

Ah, so no custom ROM's required!
Superb, thanks for your help appreciate it.
Assuming no damage can be done to phone or viruses associated with installing apk files? Read somewhere to be careful of viruses on Android.
thanks again, will do this tomorrow.

This version works without Flash : https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=air.uk.co.bbc.android.mediaplayer
Hi Nick, .apk files "are" Android App files.
That's the name of the file type used .... all the apps you download & use on an Android phone will be .apk
For eg. if you went on PLAY & downloaded the "Opera Mobile web browser" the file it sends to your phone is called "OperaMobile.apk" (BTW it's the only browser i use as you get text reflow after zooming)
Thank you all ...check the sig its here and its amazing! Got flash installed ok and writing this with s-pen how good is this phone!
