rebranding problems - Windows Phone 7 Development and Hacking

So i used the one click debranding app and it wont let me rebrand. Instead of deleting att, i think it deleted the whole key. The app just force closes and i cant add it back manually. Im trying to change it to 000-88 so what can i do?

[Q] Quick Keys FC

I have rooted my G2 and have S-OFF so I decided to remove the excess apps that shipped with it and I believe i have borked the Quick Keys process somehow. I tried to look into the G2 dump to see if there was an .apk I was missing but I can't see anything that I don't already have.
Basically, everytime I click on the quick keys setting it gives me a FC for process com.tmobile.userkeystool
anyone know what i need to put back in to get this working again? i really don't want to wipe and reflash
Same Problem
I am also having the same problem on my phone, I am thinking it has to do with removing the t-mobile apps like my account. At the end of the day I am not sure.
I'm having the same problem. Did you find a fix? I perm rooted with visionary and removed the my tmobile app. I thought a factory reset would putt back all the apps but it doesn't reinstall all the apps I removed after root. I'm still on stock rom never flashed anything else.
im having the same issues with the quick keys. can anyone else help fix this problem please???? thanks

[xap]samsung carrier debrander (for 7008 and NoDo update - "000-88")

heres a tinny app that will debrand your samsung phone so you will get the pre nodo update.
the app will also rebrand your phone back to its original carrier name (some say you should do).
just unlock your phone and side load this app only one button. restart app to rebrand.
it will now debrand to "000-88", and you should be able to get NoDo, with the server trick.

I'll use it monday!
not that I'll want to ever go back to carrier but yes monday
thanks kingpin for this...works great
Hi,
Does this just edit a registry key? If so any chance of a version that would allow you to add your own value (or could you advise which key(s) are edited? I've got one of the JK1 firmwares on my phone and it's removed reference to Orange - would love to be able to put it back and I am sure I found their code somewhere.
Thanks.
Worked perfect on my Samsung Focus. The app has a button to click on that toggles from debrand and rebrand. Now I'm on 7008 and debranded.
Again thanks OP.

Did you try to rebrand it to see if it would work after the update?
the update dosen't delete any apps, so if you didn't debrand your phone with a registry editor, the app will save your carrier name in local storage and will be able to restore it after the update.
Thanks, it worked like a charm
Fantastic! Worked sweet as a nut on my Omnia 7 (T-Mob UK which was unlocked and has an O2 sim). Once debranded I connected to PC and ran Zune, then went to Settings and then Update, it then took a while to see the 7008 update, update ran without an issue.
Re-scanned again to see if there was another update, but no NoDO yet.
have any of you recieved the NoDo?
no. i dont think it has launched in the US yet. i imagine if you could trick your phone into thinking it was european, you would get it.
This worked for me, Samsung Focus on 7008 now. Thanks
Hooray! Success! My AT&T Samsung Focus is now 7008. Baby steps.
Just used it. Sadly, it didn't work Got an error that said something like: "something we were doing timed out" and below that it read "Your device was not updated".
Unsuccesful Update
I had de-branded manually and tried to apply the 7008 update, but unfortunately ever after many tries, It was not successful. It came back with the same error always: "800705B4 The timer ran out on what we were trying to do".
This always happened at Step 7 and immediately afterwards, would show Step 1 0f 2: Rebooting the phone. And then at Step 2 after the phone reboots, displays this failure message.
Microsoft's solution of deleting app history's and deleting content doesn't work. And I don't want to hard reset my phone.
Have run out of ideas.

Not sure why you guys are getting this message, but make sure your screen is not locked. Mine went to 7008 easily

I got this message the first time too. Basically it's telling you that you need more free space on the phone (how much more, I'm not sure, I had 6 GB free when I started). I went into settings (in Zune), and deleted all synced content from the device. Then I ran the update again and it worked. After the update Zune will restore all your synced content back to the phone.
One thing to be careful of... it will delete your camera roll. No big deal if you sync your camera roll to Windows Live or through Zune, but be careful...

What app is sending you these notifications? File Manager? App Manager?
Hold down on the notification until you see a bell and an i. Hit the i to get information.
There should be a box that says notifications on the app info... Uncheck that. Reboot the phone and see if it appears again (It shouldn't).

Hold down on the notification in your tray until you see a bell and an i enclosed in a circle. Hit the i to get app information.
Then uncheck the box for notifications from that app. Reboot and see if it pops up again.

If you're on Lollipop:
Hold down on the notification and get the info. Make sure it's unchecked (Could be a different app sending that one).
If it's already unchecked:
Go to your settings and find "Notification Manager". Enter this and hit "App notifications". Find the app that sent the above notification and tap on it. Now you can adjust it and set priorities and whatnot. For this, block notifications from it.
This may block notifications for system updates as well, but you can still check it manually. Plus, system updates don't happen very often so not seeing it won't really matter.
EDIT: Misunderstood what you meant... I underlined what to do in your case.
Edit 2: I'm running a custom ROM and that's how I would do it in my case. I failed to remember that the stock ROM may not have added these features, so you can also do this (for sure) but going to your settings and hitting apps, then scrolling over to all. Find the app manager (or whatever app uses the same icon as the one sending you the notifications) and click on it. Now you can uncheck the displaying of notifications from it.

Read that^^^
Also, unchecking notifications from "Google Service Framework" may remove notifications for these type of updates.
If you are rooted and already have SuperSU you can download Titanium backup and uninstall any app from your phone. BE CAREFUL BECAUSE SOME APPS ARE IMPORTANT. Also, make sure you backup the file before removing it via titanium (backup through titanium backup) in case you for some reason need it back. This may or may not remove the prompt to update the app, but way back when (if I remember correctly) it did for me.

Glad to hear it! If you ever have any more questions feel free to PM me.
Also, I would highly recommend you try out a free app called "LG Tweaks Box". It'll make your phone feel so much better and have tons of customization!
I'm not sure if this even/still applies but when I was on KitKat (LG G3 2GB) I rooted my device then used either Root Explorer or ES File Explorer File Manager and looked in the data\op folder on device and deleted anything I didn't want (mainly anything carrier related which was all of the H3G_COM folder (30 items) as it was a 3 UK handset) then reflashed firmware and wiped device and I have never had any apps forced on me since, i've even disabled auto restore of apps from Google Play on first sign in so I can be choose what I wanted installed at each reflash/wipe.
Back up the OP folder first as It is handy for later if ever needed
Again not sure if this even/still applies
Hope that helps
Thanks for the reply
But sorry to say that my Data/Op folder has no Carrier APPs
i have done a full search on phone an just cant find the junk
i still have a message saying i have 15 APPs to update even with APP update frozen with RootUninstaller

Try installing them then using titanium backup to remove them completely including all files.

Lg ls980 soft bricked? Help!

So, i installed kingroot on my lg g2 and i figured i should try to get rid of some bloatware. I didnt make a backup of any apps. So i uninstalled a couple apps that that looked safe to delete and anyways it all works fine, until i restart my phone. Im getting like 3 error messages system UI is not working and a couple other apps, i cant navigate anywhere. The settings on the boot screen and i can navigate through them. I tried to flash the stock rom but since i have the sprint version and it has a different file type. All lg flash programs use kdz. I dont know how to reinstall the built in apps. Help, i know i was stupid for doing this and its all ny fault but can someone help me get it back to its original state. Thanks!
