Having done dozens of updates over the past couple of years I've finally had my first problem occur. I've searched the other postings and been unable to find anything which is similar to the effects that I'm getting.
For some reason I'm unable to upgrade the radio rom - just the radio rom, the other roms updates go in perfectly OK.
The universal displays the screen that it's "started upgrading.... Please wait" but then nothing happens. Eventually the the upgrade tool times out. I've tried about 10 different radio roms (ones that I know I've loaded before) but no luck.
All firewalls are turned off, I'm not using vista, direct USB connection, and other roms update OK so I'm really not sure what's happened. It's now left me with a universal with no radio rom at all!
Has anyone any ideas or is it perhaps that this rom has broke in the device?
Try removing the sim card and the SD-card.
First of all I am sorry, I tried to find the answer via search, but maybe I am searching with the wrong search strings
Here is my problem: I followed this excellent guide yesterday (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=905003) and downgraded from my original 2.3.3 on an unbranded DHD, then did the Radio S-OFF (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=857537) and finally flashed Cyanogenmod 7.0.3 via Rom manager (I flashed the ClockWorkMod recovery as well).
Everything worked fine, but when I tried to shut down the phone it powered down and immediately rebooted. Tried several times - no change. I cannot turn it off without removing the battery.
So I thought maybe I did something wrong and flashed 7.0.2 (in both cases will all the wipes). But the problem still persists.
Can anybody help?

A quick search gave me this, I don't get why the search function is so difficult for some people. I searched with the term "turn off" and in titles only.

Maybe I was searching in the wrong forum
Thanks for pointing me in the right direction!
Worked like a charm Problem solved!
Hi after days of searching the internet I have finally realised I need to post here and ask for help, sorry if this has been posted before though as I have really looked hard everywhere!
Anyway, after flashing a RCMix rom my desire started to drop calls as soon as I either picked up or answered one and only ever rarely got 2G signal in what I know is H signal zones. I changed roms but the problem persisted and after countless hours of searching and trying my sim in other phones, I have deducted that it is my desire which is the problem.
So I'm going to take it back to a t-mobile store, as I were unrooting using the RUU exe I got the 140 error, my phone will no longer boot but still has bootloader, fastboot and recovery working! Is my phone bricked, I can't find any help anywhere on how to put my desire back to stock
Please could any of you shine some light onto my situation?
Many many thanks
You have recovery? Did you try installing another rom to make the phone work again?
After that you can try to unroot it again, I think...
Okay, I will try installing a froyo rom now, will post the results of a second unroot...
Right very strange indeed, just flashed AceSMod007 and signal problems have seem to have gone away (although I had tried this before with many roms - maybe the unrooting process fixed my phone somehow?)... so this means there is no need to unroot and send back to t-mobile, hmmmm all seems to good to be true! thanks for the help though, wouldn't of tried flashing another rom if you hadnt mentioned it
EDIT: SOLVED!!!! it was a usb brick. see last post for details.
hi all,
I have a problem with my desire.
Bluetooth won't turn on. If I try to enable BT, it says grey'ed out for like 10 secs and the goes back to unchecked.
I got this device used so I don't have many background information. All I can tell is I tried different ROMs and wiped all I could, but still no luck. I actually highly suspect this might be an hardware issues, but I'd really like to try everything before shipping back to assistance.
Here are my current specs:
htc desire amoled
bravo pvt1 ship s-on
hboot 0.80.0000
radio 5.11.05.27
rom cyanogenmod 7.1.0
kernel 2.6.37.6-cyanogenmod-geb50077
Recovery: Clockworkmod
ANY hint highly appreciated.
Got exactly the same problem.
BT worked while running the former stable CM release. I first noticed this issue when flashing latest CM. You tried other ROMs which didnt work?
Did you try other Radios as well?
I am not an expert, but I think it could be a problem of the radio. I never totally understood what the radio does, so could anybody help with this guess? I never changed Radio as there was no need for (never touch a running system).
lexo, did you try rolling back to 7.0.3 to see if BT would work again?
I was also thinking about radio, exp b\c it seems to not be a ROM-specific issue, as I have tried several: LeeDroid, InsertCoin, MIUI, as well as a stock rom.
I believe the point with radio is not necessarily about having the latest, but finding the one that works well with one's rom. Also, there is RIL, but that I don't know what it does.
No, didnt try that yet.
I use BT in my car to listen to music only so I didnt notice the issue at first. Now i am thinking about buying Galaxy Nexus, so I am not too exited about that point. But as I am willing to pass my Desire to my lil sister I would love to have it fixed.
Whats "RIL"? Think I never heard about it.
Don't know if this is relevant but had a similar problem with Bluetooth, wifi and Mobile data yesterday. None of them had connectivity!
The remedy that worked for me was to wipe the cache and dalvik, reflash CM7.1 via recovery (but remember to also flash the Google apps package) and soft reset.
No data is lost this way.
Hope that helps!

This may not be relevant but when I couldn't enable Bluetooth on my done when I have a USB brick.....
Try the USB brick fix it may work

update:
so far I did:
- wiped everything including dalvik and reflashed cm7 - no luck
- removed files in etc/bluetooth [read somewhere] - nuthing
- applyied a .zip update that is supposed to fix a possible USB brick - no change.
@LEXO: I think you might try the first two things I did, in your case they might work.
So now I flashed a RUU Rom and reverted to stock s-on bootloader, hboot, radio (ril, too, I believe, though I dunno how to tell ril version) and recovery.
The only thing I'm not completely sure about is the USB brick fix, but otherwise it's ready to ship to assistance.
@Reaper, can you point me to the USB fix you referred to?
guys!!! Thanks everyone, expecially reaper.
My BT is working again!!! turn out it was a USB brick, which I was able to solve fairly easy.
I had tried a usb brick fix that involved flashing a .zip, which I did. However still no BT changed so I assumed phone was not bricked after all.
Also, I always assumed usb brick would involve major cd and usb connect malfunctions, and that was not my case at all.
However it must have been that fix that didn't work, because I then followed the guide on this forum http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=691639: got my CID via fastboot, modified the files accordingly, put them on sd card, got temp root with visionary, issued the necessary commands with "free root system tool" terminal, rebooted, and voilĂ ! BT is finally green.
I can't believe I made it!
So the Girlfriends US Virgin Mobile PrimoC was running slow so she turned to her nerd boyfriend to help. Nerd boyfriend to the rescue I set out to root and install AOKP and after messing with this thing for 10 hours I'm stuck. I used the All-in-One Tool kit to root and install a new Rom. First I tried AOKP, but ran into the 1-minute restart issue, didn't know why so I tried PAC and the phone kept restarting every minute or so. Did some more searching and found that the restarting was due to the updated Radio. Found a tutorial thread for downgrading the radio by taking the RUU, extracting the rom.zip file, renaming it PK75IMG.zip placing it in the root of my sdcard and flashing in the bootloader. Did that, loaded up AOKP again and the restart issue was gone but I have no service now. It seems the radio is getting a signal, but it will not give me any service. I then just ran the full RUU from the computer, it completed without error and we are back on the stock Rom with downgraded radio. She still does not have any service. Tried downloading a different RUU (same RUU but from a different server) and still can not get any service.
Any suggestions?
