i cannot get through the "Android SignAPK" thing ...can some1 give me simple steps to make an update.zip ...i tried editting ones and i always get the verification failed msgs ...how can i just put the commands without having to sign it???

I'm pretty sure that's the method I used last time I created an update.zip.
To answer your second question, you can't, it must be signed.
Although I assume you're doing this for the IM app. You don't need to, someone posted a working .apk in the thread you started. I'm running it on my Hero as we speak
oh ..alright .. i almost done working on mine. i needed that last step to create the update file doesnt matter anymore huh!
Please guys help!
Im on my macbook pro. I recently upgraded to the leaked version of FROYO on my EPIC 4G.
I want to convert to ext4 file format, BUT when i try to use One Click Root, it goes into stock recovery, i click install sdcard/update.zip it starts to install, and then it says installation aborted, status code 2 in red.
I tried connecting it to VMware fusion 2, which im running Windows 7. To try to use the ext4 file format conversion, but i recently read on a forum that vmware fusion doesnt support galaxy s phones.
Please help! If i can get my phone back to stock, or convert to ext4.
Im an avid Android and Samsung user and i would love to have ext4, ive heard so many great things. And my Epic is really choppy
Im on a macbook and i used this one click root method http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=808103
If you want to have ext4 the quickest way now is by installing clockworkmod 3.0.0.5 (not sure how to do this) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=897612
If not go here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=890494 and get the flashable zip (use both oneclick and flash links because the first gives you prepare.zip) ..download your preffered rom (bonsai4all 1.1.3 is awesome) and PM if your having problems..
Edit: Forgot to say run prepare.zip in clockwork mod(u get this recovery after oneclick) and it gives u cwm 2.5.1.2 (reboot recovery under advanced)
then run ext formatter.zip....dont reboot and flash new rom. and your set
Ok use this method to get ext4

When you unzip OneClickRootCWM3.zip you downloaded you will need to replace the run.sh file in that folder with the one I am attaching here! Once this file is replaced then type ./run.sh from your mac terminal. DO NOT forget to do change your directory to the one click folder you unzipped the files when you use your terminal! All I did was edit the run.sh to work with your Mac. All credit goes to Dameon87 for his OneClickRootCWM3.zip!
Edit: When you download my run.sh.zip file just remove the .zip extension and rename it just to run.sh as I couldn't upload the file with the .sh extension here!!!
I know you might be in a slight panic but please post your questions in the correct thread. No need to start a new thread in development just to ask a question. There is a Q&A thread up top. Someone will answer your questions there I promise!
Please post questions in Q&A section.

Hi im working on creating some boot animations. Ive got the files ready, but i cant figure out how to put them into a flashable .zip.
I flashed this file thunderbolt boot animation and it worked so i figured if i just replaced my animation and audio it would work but i get an error saying "e:update script not found" or something along those lines.
Id like to know if there is an easy way to create a "template" were i just copy my animation into a folder and zip it, or if there is a program that will package it for me including the script/etc.
Any input or guide on how to make these boot animations flashable .zip's would be great, thanks.

Thats weird it didn't work. Should. Maybe it wasn't re-packaged correctly.
Try the one attached.

Thanks ill try it out, just dont have the time right now.
If you cant figure it out i'll give you a guide tomorrow when i'm off my iPad .
did you rezip it correctly?
I ran into this trouble, I forget what it is, but you have to zip the files a certain way or they will not work. I don't remember the settings anymore, but just creating a regular zip file won't work.
There is a good guide to making your own update script on xda somewhere. Just search the entire site. If i'm just flashing something simple like a theme or boot animation sometimes I just use someone else's flashable zip and replace the necessary files. I can't remember off the top of my head, but iirc there are two folders you want to keep from someone else's zip. Meta-inf which is basically the signature files and something else which contains the script. If you dissect someone's zip it should be obvious what the other folder you want to keep is. You will find the update script in one of the sub folders, and if you want you can open it with a text editor and get an idea of how the script works.
If you need more info I can help you more when I get to my computer.

ok, here it goes.
first, figure out where you want to push your file. i'd reccomend pushing manually in recovery to make sure the file itself works. then, using a tool like 7zip (pc) or betterzip (mac) create a file structure that matches the one on the phone. for example, if you wanted a boot animation to be put in system/customize/resource, make a folder system, customize in that, resource in that, and the bootanimation.zip inside that. now you have the main part. next, make a folder in the root of the zip called META-INF (caps counts) inside that, com, inside that, google, and inside that, android. thats /META-INF/com/google/android/. inside android, you need to place in an update-script. i'd reccomend taking one from another zip and just editing it becasue i still have not figured out a way to make that type of file (unix exec) from scratch. open it up in a .txt editor like notepad++ (pc) or coda (mac) and write your script. here is the baisic script for copying the directory system on the zip to system on the phone (like flashing a boot animation).
copy_dir PACKAGE:system SYSTEM:
CAPS COUNT AND MAKE SURE YOU HAVE AN ENTER AT THE END. IF YOU DO NOT HAVE AN ENTER AT THE END (TO MAKE IT TWO LINES INSTEAD OF ONE, LIKE ISSUEING A COMMAND) THEN IT WILL NOT WORK AT ALL ( E:SYNTAX ERROR IN UPDATE-SCRIPT IS THE ERROR YOU WILL GET)
so put this file into the folder android, and zip it. make sure it is in store only, compatibility mode, if you have such options. then, use an auto signer (or just say zip is not signed and make sure to put sig verification off) to sign the zip. flash, and watch your work magically appear.
the update-script i showed is written in amend. i have no idea how to write in edify bcuz it is much more complicated with the binary and stuff. so dont flash with cwm 3.0+.
good luck. ask if you have any questions.
hello will this methed work on like adding some personal apps you want to be on your rom?
At first my phone is S-OFF with Ledroid 2.5 and the recommend radio.
Now i have installed the Lower VVD-Levels from the ledroid page.
My phone runs good with this patch.
Now i want to get more undervolting for the desire CPU.
I want to open the file with editor and change the volts for every freqency.
i know that i need 0.025V steps
-----------------
My Q is:
can i unpack the script , rewrite the script , pack it , install it normaly , test the stable of desire ?
Can i use the smartass after the undervolt script what i rewrite?
thanks
i just wanted to check this for u and i get an error:
Amend scripting (update-script) is no longer supportet.
Amend scripting was deprecated by Google in Android 1.5.
It was necessary to remove it when upgrading to the ClockworkMod 3.0 Gingerbread based recovery. Please switch to Edify scripting (updater-script and update-binary) to create woring update zip packages.
Installation aborted.
Recovery is 4EXT 2.1.0 final
Just tried this things u asked and i get this error. maybe somebody knows the problem? or a fix?
i think u can use AmonRa 2.0.1 to get this file working cuz 4ext doesnt support old update scripting....
Does anybody knows ahy??
i just tried for my own with amonRA 2.0.1 , the other recovery (4EXT 2.1.0final) doesnt support old scripting....
now i have -100mv over all frequencies (i see it under VDD_Levels and i use smartass
i hope my phone is stable (will test it)
Hey guys
I've been playing around with the latest Jellaxy AOKP release 23/9-12 and trying to get DT a2sd to work on it - without luck!! I've tried everything!!
I am able to flash the zip file in CWM recovery, but the script doesn't seem to be installed. Then I tried installing it via Script Manager, and running the install.sh script - also no luck!! The script worked fine on previous two ROMs I had installed, so I just don't get it!
This time, either way I try, I get one of the following errors; when trying to install the latest version 2,7 beta5 in recovery it just refuses to install, saying something about amend scripting not being used, and to create a flashable zip with edify scripting (or something like that - didn't understand a word of it!! ) And if I install (succesfully) the 2.7.5.3 beta 04 version, every command I try in terminal emulator gives a segmentation fault message, and then I'm back to square 1 again... Even the GUI app for a2sd doesn't recognize the script as being installed..?!
Is the DT a2sd script just unable to work with AOKP JB ROMs, or am I doing something wrong here..?!
Tnx in advance.
- H
I feel as if all the effort of aokp
is to run one or two apps and then your dead out of memory.....
no a2sd really working and through gio is a thing of the past
no one cares about a2sd really.

Very glad with the work done
