After not paying my Vodafone bill for a few months, i got disconnected.
As my mobile contract is ending next month i decided to switch over to three pay and go, as they have very good deals available.
I received my new three sim today and tried it in an old Samsung D500 as it is unlocked and my Touch Pro 2 is locked to vodafone.
Well the D500 wouldnt pick up the three sim card, just an 'Insert SIM' error message.
After alot of tinkering with it i though 'F*CK IT'. I'll whack the sim card into my touch pro 2 and see what happens.
To my amazement, the Touch Pro 2 fired up and started downloading connection settings from three to the phone.
HOW THE HELL DID THIS HAPPEN?
I know for a fact that when i got the phone it was locked to vodafone!
Now its accepting any sim card i insert
Any ideas as to why this has happened?
Just interested as to why.
Thanks guys/gals

Hi,
I'm guessing since you are running a custom rom that your device is Hard SPL'ed ? I dont have O.R.D. , so im no expert here , but I think as a result of that, your device is now Sim unlocked .
I know this because i paid for a sim unlock from a respected developer on here who was very helpful , and when i started to run the application, it proceeded to Hard SPL my device . I have to say I hadn't expected that, and promptly pooped myself (i think i mentioned already I'm a ROM virgin ).
Anyway, everything went fine, with no unfortunate side effects, except my phone is now Sim unlocked, and ready for flashing should I ever desire to do so
Regards
Garrickus
Well hey, IM NOT COMPLAINING
I always thought that H-SPL and SIM lock were 2 different things (as a custom ROM/H-SPL is offered free, while phone unlocking on here is at a price)
Its just great i didnt have to pay for it

I broke and replaced the screen in my unlocked upgraded flashed-ROM wallaby and the unit now starts up and reports invalid SIM.
Is there any solution or should I re-flash the rom again and see if that works, hope for the best?
Try the SIM in a different (unlocked) phone, to make sure the SIM isn't fried. If the SIM is fried, you can get a new one from your provider. SIMs do get fried sometimes -- it happened to me a couple months back. Fortunately my provider (Cingular) has a shop just down the road from me, and they burned a new SIM in 5 minutes.
I apologise, I should have said
Sorry, I should have said, it does work in another machine and as I said, it did work immediately I used the xda flashing process to upgrade the ROM in this very unit before I dropped it.
Everything else in the new ROM seems to work which makes it infuriating that it wont recognise the SIM. I even tried calling T-Mobile and asking them if they could see the SIM on their network and they couldn't.
(I even have one of those SIM copying devices they send you free for some unknown reason when they want you to upgrade your service to some kind of higher level SIM card. I was wondering if I should try to use it again but as mine does work, this, like the whole copying device, seemed a bit academic)
The reason I say this is a weird situation is because I'm actually using an old Suncom SIM card. My girlfriend's phone finally died after going through numerous drops/abuse for the past few years, so I was going to give her my old Dash. Now, the official ROM does that "network is locked" thing, so I figured I would a custom ROM. Well, I was able to start up the phone successfully and use it fully with the Suncom SIM inserted, but it does not find the T-mobile signal.
Is there a way around this, or is she going to have to go to T-mobile and have her SIM converted over to a T-mobile one?

is your phone sim unlock? In order to use other provider< you phone must be sim unlocked>
good luck
That's the thing though, it's not being used by a DIFFERENT provider, but actually by the SAME provider. The only problem is that the SIM card is from the old company before the two merged, so I'm guessing that makes a difference.

Maybe as we have company's that use same carrier yet the sims can't be used without unlock phone.
Eg: BT, Asda both use Vodaphone yet can't have a Vodaphone or Asda SIM in a BT phone without unlock...
So i bought a Note II the other day on craigs list. I met the guy at a mall even though he offered to meet at his house. The phone still had all the stickers and screen protectors on it and had clearly never been used. We powered it up and I popped my SIM in and it worked. I got an LTE connection right away. It is a Bell phone and I had a Bell SIM card. After a few hours, it stopped connecting. I get "selected network (Bell) unavailable". If i try taking out the SIM and re inserting it multiple times along with rebooting it I can sometimes get a connection for a very short while... Less than a few minutes or so. I've taken it to Bell and they said it's not reported stolen, however, they absolutely have no record of the phone at all! It's a phantom phone. Definitely Bell branded as it worked with my SIM and has all the Bell apps when I boot it up. Bell won't touch it cause they have no history of it. I tried calling the guy back and he didn't hesitate to answer me. But he speaks very poor english and got upset and defensive when I politely asked for more information about the phone (Where he got it, if it's stolen). I got nothing out of him and he was practically crying because he said I was "Bullying him".
I'm floored. I don't have a clue what to do.. It's a freaking wifi tablet.... That's it. $600 down the drain.. Does anybody know what I can do?
As I understand it, you wouldn't be able to connect at all if it was blacklisted. It does sound odd to me though that this is happening.

My brother had a similar case when he bought Iphone 5 (locked to bell). The guy who sold it to him could barely speak English. Later my brother tried to use SIM and it wouldn't allow him. He called bell and was told that its locked due to fraud or something. He called the guy he refused to return money. I think Bell is more strict when it comes device frauds.

Would unlocking and using another provider potentially work then?
I wouldnt know that. My brother couldnt unlock his Iphone 5 for obvious reasons.
However you can follow this thread (to unlock your device for free). See if that works, but if its blacklisted in their system I assume it wont work no matter what.

I'd reset the phone and try a brand new sim card or someone else's Bell sim card.

+1, have to go through some process of elimination troubleshooting....
Hi there,
I am a so far satisfied owner of a G3 but since 10 days I have been having an issue with my G3 and I wanted to ask around if someone here has an idea or some thought that could help.
My situation is the following:
About 2 weeks ago I switched my mobile service provider. When my new SIM card from my new provider arrived I tried the SIM card in my G3 but there was just the massage "no sim card found" and no possibility to type in your PIN. So I thought maybe I got a defective SIM card, it happens. I ordered a new one but the problem remained with the new card in my G3 aswell, still no pssibility to type in my PIN. So I tried troubleshooting and started trying the SIM cards in diffrent phones. In other phones the SIM card from the new provider worked perfectly and I was able to type in my PIN like it should be. When I tried putting other SIM cards in my G3 (from my Mom, Dad etc. and also from different providers) none of them worked in my G3. Even my sisters SIM card from the same new provider AND she has also a G3. So far it seems that the my G3s SIM card reader is broken.
The weird thing is that when I put in my G3 my old SIM card from the old provider the prompt to type in my PIN appears as normal as ever. If I type in my PIN the phone accepts the PIN normally. There is just no reception which is normal because I am not with my old provider anymore. I also have to add that the phone appears not to have SIM lock. I bought it from a private seller but he bought the G3 with a vodafone contract and I was with O2 at that time and the phone worked perfectly. Just until I switched from O2 to Congstar (Telekom) the problem began.
So I thought I just send it back to LG because I still have warranty on the device. The phone is rooted so I need to admit that it was not that clever to send the phone in without rolling back the rooting. Today I got a letter from the repair service from LG with an estimate of cost which means no surprise, no warranty for me. You guess right, the reason is the rooting they write they need to change the whole mainboard. For me this sound like plain bull**** because on the document they send it seems like the first thing they check is a rooting and if the device is rooted then thats the cause. But ok it was pretty stupid from me not to unroot it, I know.
Now I wanted to ask you if someone had a similar problem with their G3 or has an idea what the cause could be. Like mentioned above with my old SIM card the phone worked normally. Just the new cards and all other cards, even another O2 card did not work. Is it possible that just one and only one SIM cards gets accepted from the phone?
Sorry for the long post. I am thankful for any advice.
Best regards,
Patrick
I'll have my phone back tomorrow. If someone still has an idea I would be very thankful about some thoughts or suggestions.
Thanks!

It seems your phone is Sim locked.
You need to find the unlocking code that you need to put in the hidden menu.
Google for LG G3 Sim unlock.

Hi,
thanks for your reply! Iam not sure it is because of sim lock- Because the phone came with a vodafone contract but when I bought it I was with O2. And with my old sim card from O2 the phone worked perfectly. Weird is that when I put in a different O2 sim card the pin prompt also did not appear. Same with any other sim card ...
Thanks,
Patrick
Or did maybe someone have a similar experience with a different phone?

Hi again,
I tried some more things but still nothing helped.
The things I tried were:
- unrooting the phone and factory reset
- reflash radios
- try completely diffrent rom (CM)
Still I have no idea what the cause could be. Maybe the sim card reader is just broken. Just weird that it reads my deactivated sim card.
I would really appreciate it if someone has an idea or some similar experience..
Thanks!
You can buy an unlock code for 3.5-4€ , works for any LG G3 variant
Try it
Ok, thanks! I will try it!
So I just looked at what I have to do and tried the combination 2945#*855# to see where I have to type in the code. The thing is when I choose any one of the appearing options like netlock etc. the phone says "this phone is permanently locked" and there is no possibility to type in any code...
How the hell is my phone completely locked...
Hi guys,
Don`t know if it happened to anyone else but maybe someone can help me.
I bought an LG H815 from Vodafone UK > 2 years ago and unlocked it with an ebay code. It worked just fine until February this year ,1 month before expiring the warranty. I sent it to LG UK and got replaced by a new one.
The new one was also locked I unlocked it again using an ebay code but after few days I started having problems with the signal.
I was getting a message "no sim card" and my phone restarted.
First time I thought that the sim mooved and I put it back but it kept on doing like this.
The thing is sometimes is working for a few hours sometimes it`s not working at all.
Tried different sim cards same thing happened with the phone, tried my sim in different phones was ok.
I also did a factory reset but nothing changed.
I asked the guy who sold me the unlock code and he said it might be the sim bracket.
What should I do ? Should I try to flash another kdz or to install Lineage ? Or simply go to a phone service ?
Thank you very much for taking your time to read my post.
