Go Launcher EX + LCD Density not work fine - Galaxy S I9000 Themes and Apps

Hello,
I have a litte Problem with the position of the Dockbar in Go Launcher EX.
I installed LCD Density Changer from the Market. So I take the dpi from 240 to 180. After I restart the SGS, the dpi was change. But the Go Launcher EX (newest Version / Update from 28 March) doesent looks great.
Its not much, but the 5 shortcuts from the dockbar arent in the bottom centre.
If I startet the normal Go Launcher, this Problem doesn't exist. I used some Theme, a Reset of Go Launcher EX and so on, but i doesnt change everthing. Have any one the same problem oder a solution for these case?
Sry. But i cant post embedded images, because i havent enough posts. I created this account for a few days, because i lost my pw and my old email doesnt exist anymore

Go Launcher already has density thing build in
you don't need to install desntiy app after using Go Launcher

Where do you find this option? I didn't found it yet.
I can change the piece of icons from 4 x 4 to 5 x 5, but I didn't change density

Anybody else having issues with alternative launchers?

ADW Launcher :
Issue 1: when you open the dialer the dock hides but doesn't come back when you close the dialer . You have to restart adw to get it again. Happens on 240 and 320 density.
Issue 2: when on 240, there is a blue line at the top of the screen and a empty section you can't do anything with, looks like a empty box. I am thinking ADW is in tablet mode cause i know tablets run on 240 and they have a tablet bar at the top
Nova Launcher:
Issue 1: When running on 240 density, when i scroll thru my homescreens blue lines appear for a seconds then disappear
Issue 2 : when scrolling from screen to screen and you stop on a homescreen the icons look distorted. They looks has if you're mid scroll transition and stopped. Once you click on something everything refreshes and looks normal.Happens on 240 and 320 density's

ADW:
wiped and re-installed the rom, that solved the disappearing dock with the dialer

Apex Beta3 Issues

Hye everyone,
I ran into an issue\bug and I wanted to see if anyone has ran into it or has found a workaround. Using Apex stable paid, I was able to use a a tabletui mode (no settings change) WITH the icons showing text for the app. See attached
When I updated to APex Beta3, there is a new setting called TabletUI mode in Apex tat must be enabled to use Tablet UI. Unfortunately, whenever I turn that option on, I lose all the text for my homescreen icons (see attached)
Anyone find a fix for this? Ive already email Apex support but havent heard back yet

There are no pics.
There is an option at the bottom of the home screen option Page to hide text.... Is that checked?

It may have to do with the grid size you're using. I believe anything over 7 x 7 will turn off icon/app text.
Where are you finding that Tablet setting up in the beta?

I am using a 5x6, so the text should show fine. The strange thing is its fine beta 2 and below, its beta3 that brought the problems. One pic has tabletUI disabled (wuith text), the other (missing Text) has tabletUI enabled in APex settings
EDIT: added pics to OP.

[Q] help neaded regarding launchers

ive tried almost all the launchers available in the play store and the problem is that the icons get rearranges in automatically when any new launcher is installed is there a way by which the launcher can adopt the deafult set of placements of the icons which are placed originally???

Your current launcher needs to have feature to 'backup' its settings, then your new launcher must have feature to 'import' setup from another launcher.
Im not usein be launcher its the deafult i want the launcher 2 adopt my deafult icon set

There is no "default icon set". Icons you have on the "desktop" are part of the launcher. If you change the launcher - no icons. Unless, as tweeny80 stated, your new launcher can import settings from your old one (which is slim chance)...
Nova launcher gives the option to import from another. Holo laucher gives the option to use the holo icon theme or the stock theme therefore y o ur icons will be stock. Hope this helps.

[Q] Need help to find the right screen density on CM 11

I upgraded from Slimbean to Cyanogenmod 11 and the first thing which disturbed me was the large icons.. b'coz on Slimbean the Screen Density is set at 182(Default) and the icons look sharp.. so when i changed it to 182 on CM 11 the icons look blurry except it every thing is just fine ! Please drop in your comments to help me to find a lower screen density without blurry icons.

Kitkat does have bigger icons than Jelly Bean. Google did this to emphasize the "app-centric" approach in Kitkat... Naturally this app-centric approach is unchanged in any AOSP-based ROMs. Try Android's standard DPIs: 240 (phone), 213 (phablet), 160 (tablet). These DPIs won't conflict with Play Store. I personally use 213...
Also try custom launchers such as Nova
sadly, if you set the DPI to anything other than 240, the Google Experience Launcher will have blury icons. I tried. I even tried app settings to change it to 240 DPI, but the result is still a launcher with blurry icons and a 5x5 app drawer. If you want to set the DPI to anything other than 240, you need to use launcher3 or any other replacement launcher.

V500 CM11 ROM Display Size

Hi All
I am new here, recently rooted and installed the CM11 ROM
So far so good. Just wondering however.
The Icons and overall feel of the OS seems very large to me, and in some icons even pixalated (Instagram app)
Is this normal?
Also when I rotate the tab into landscape the text from the apps are cut off, its like it doesnt fit onto the page.
Do i need to install a launcher such as Apex?or GPE?
Thanks

hi, when you rotate into landscape the letters are indeed cut off, this is a bug of cyanogen and i believe that they ll fix it sometime. If you want smaller icons long press on desktop screen, select settings and change the number of rows and columns. If you select bigger number the icons will become smaller and i managed to see the whole text of icons with a particular number of rows and columns.

Thanks for your help
Do you mind me asking which row and columns you have?
I installed KK launcher just to see if there would be a difference.
And there is a massive difference. The icons are much more crisp and smooth and smaller.
Not sure if its just my ROM.

yeah I forgot to tell you to install a different launcher, cyanogen launcher is bugged, it's not just your rom. I use 7 rows and 6 columns and I use it mostly on portrait mode, if I put 8 rows then the icons look really messed up

Great thanks for this!
Any recommendations on a good Launcher?
Do I have to remove the current CM11 launcher or do they both run at the same time?
Cheers

if you install a custom launcher it will replace the stock, no need to uninstall cyanogens launcher. Unfortunately i havent found much time to experiment with the launchers, although i want sometime to change cyanogen's launcher. The most popular launchers by far are go launcher ex and nova launcher. I want to try someday next launcher 3d, it's created from the development team of go launcher ex and it has some really cool 3d effects.
if you are more technically inclined try changing ro.sf.lcd_density= in your build.prop to something lower like 270, I believe it's set at 320 or something like that ala nexus.
in setting you can choose between launcher3 and the Google Experince Launcher (It's simply called launcher). the Google Experience Launcher works great.
I installed nova launcher and the desktop looks way much better than in cyanogen's launcher. Nova launcher is a simple launcher though, with few options available for customise. But it works really great and it does the job.
