Does anyone have this problem here? I just want to be able to make or receive a call with out hearing the navigation talk over the person I am talking to.
I have tried every thing from enabling / disabling A2dp, pairing / unpairing, unchecking the media checkbox in the Bluetooth settings. Could anyone help me with this plz thank
btw i have HTC Thunderbolt android 2.2
I have a motorola bt headset that I use with my EVO and have exactly the same issue. When on the phone using google nav it is quite distracting hearing the navigation directions over bt. I would like to know how to disable nav over bt as well.
I also wish I could figure this issue out because it is annoying. Unfortunately I do not think there is a fix currently for this problem!
After seeing a lack of replies, I too am wondering if there is no fix.
Swyped from my EVO using XDA app.
when in Navigation just hit volume down. It isolates the Nav volume when in the app.
Anyone know if having to manually remove sync in jawbone updater for every rom is a common issue?

After a couple of weeks of working perfectly, I've had to abandon using my BlueTrek ST1. It started randomly changing track on me. Since my most-used application is Google Listen and that program has no option to disable headset control, there's no workaround.
Problem is, I don't know if the fault lies with the headset or the phone. And I'm not sure I can borrow anyone else's phone/bluetooth headset long enough to confirm which is the case.
Does anyone have any suggestions?
Update: avoided the problem completely by using Headset Blocker. This means that I can't use the headset button to answer calls, but I can live with that.
I hope someone might have the answer to this problem:
I'm using my Desire with a Nokia CK-100 carkit (which works perfectly), but also like it when the navigation directions are spoken via the A2DP.
Now all the audio works just fine via A2DP, but there is a delay before the audio is being played over the car speakers. This usually results in only hearing the directions after like 1-2 secs, thus I'm missing half the directions!
Read: I'd like to listen to my car radio, but have the directions over the speakers. And then the radio sounds/music are being muted by the CK100 carkit.
So: Does anyone know if it's possible to either change the way the directions/speech behaves? For example: add 1-2 seconds of 'silence' in front of the directions, or just some bogus word might help too .
Or perhaps there is a tweak that makes the switch faster and eliminate the 1-2 seconds delay before the sound is played over the speakers (I guess this might be a thing that has to do with the carkit, and not the Desire).
On a more 'funny' note, my Hero plays the directions just fine over the A2DP. But I think that has to do with the Hero being slower. I guess the Desire starts talking too fast, and then the CK100 doesn't have enough time to switch (or better, on the Hero the talking starts áfter the switch, with the Desire right away during the switch).
I have the same issue with Bluetooth headset HTC BH M300
At moment I disable the media connection on the Bluetooth headset options so I can hear the Google maps direction from the speaker of Desire...

Yeah, at the moment that's my solution as well. But some tweak which 'starts' the audio 2 seconds earlier (with 1-2 second silent gap then) would be best.
Perhaps the instructions can be modified in some way? I'm not 100% sure how that's done with Google Navigation. I believe it's done via the speech synthesis right? So perhaps there is some file in which the directions are stored? That might be the first step.
Maybe someone who has been digging around in the Google Navigation knows more about this?

Didn't know that fix...
What do I loose after disabling media connection? I guess that bluetooth music playback. If that's all that will be my definite fix...
Yep, no more audio over the bluetooth. But the phone/carkit will still work just fine.
The update to FroYo 'fixed' my problem! I can now hear the most important part of the directions. Yay!
So you might want to give it a try again after updating.
After official froyo update and with latest Google Maps installed the audio problem is still here :'(

I have the same problem.
I'm using the Parrot MKi9100 carkit and LeeDroid 2.0c Froyo rom.
Im using Sygic Drive 10 and first 1-2 sec of the instruction is cut-off when conected to the bluetooth. The same behaviour was over my BluAnt headset.
However Sygic over my Nokia e71 didn't had that issues.
Also I have other problem is when using Google Maps first 1-2 seconds are playing fine but the other part is silenced? Other way around!
Does somebody have any solution to this?
I've used many ROMs (Viper, Bonsai, Nebula, currently ACS Syndicate) and I've had this problem on all of them. I've even ODIN'd back to stock before and it still didn't fix my problem.
After disconnecting my Epic from my Jawbone Icon headset, the sound often gets stuck inside the earpiece. Music, movies, games, ringtones will all play from the earpiece instead of the speaker behind the phone.
Is there some software fix to correct this? Can any of the devs point me in the right direction as to how I might troubleshoot this (maybe at the kernel level)?
Thanks in advance!
This doesn't really go in Development, and I suspect it will be moved soon.
I can tell you, though, that I've experienced similar problems, intermittantly, and here's what I've observed.
If I'm listening to music through bluetooth, before I disconnect, I'll stop the music. Then I'll turn the bluetooth device off. Then I'll turn bluetooth off on the phone. If I do it in that order, I don't seem to get the bug.
If you do still get the bug, rebooting fixes it.
Hope that helps!
This is a known issue. It's a bug that has to do with being connected to a device for both media and phone calls. If you use only one or the other it doesn't happen.

It's very annoying for me as well.
The other bug that I noticed is after taking a call over BT, when I end the call, the earpiece on the phone starts randomly popping. rebooting fixes it but it still really irks me.
I think the OP is wondering if there's a way to dig around in the BT stack and fix it ?

This stuff has been going on since DK28 and before. I believe Rodderick was looking into fixing it from the kernel side, but I'm not sure how much progress has been made. I know it's not as bad as it was on DK28, but still very annoying. It used to happen to me all the time (audio going through earpiece instead of speaker after disconnecting Bluetooth) when I would turn my car off and it would disconnect the Bluetooth to my car stereo. Now that I have the Samsung Car Dock, I just connect Bluetooth for phone only, and use the audio out on the Car Dock for Navigation and Media.
Moved to Q&A.
i am having a simular issue but mine is that when i connect to bluetooth headset i have to have media playing before i get a call or i will not hear the other person in the call.
it seems to me that ANY bluetooth headset with A2DP is doing this and i have tried 3 diffrent headsets. Jabra Stone, Jawbone Icon, and the Blueant T1.
all 3 of these headsets do this. does anyone have any solution yet?
Even if there isn't a fix, I wish there was an app to reset the sound settings post facto. Anyone know of one?
I just want to add my name to the list of those who are affected by this. Glad it's not just me, though. Hopefully it can be debugged easily.
For the record, a Quickboot Hot Reboot (reboot of Android only, not phone) does NOT solve the issue. Only a full reboot works for me. Seems like it may not be a software issue but something hardware-related.

Just want to add this happened to me the first time just now. I'm on rooted EC05. I was scared for a bit that the speaker had blown. Then when I discovered it all coming from the earpiece, I remembered this thread. A reboot did make it go away.
I wonder if it has any relation to the issue I see once in a while since the upgrade where my BT devices need re-pairing and ask for a passcode, when they really shouldn't.
I Also Have This Issue
I have had this exact issue since DI18.
After I hang up a Bluetooth call, I have popping sounds coming out of the earpiece. Turning off Bluetooth doesn't fix it. Turning Bluetooth back on after turning off doesn't fix it. In addition, after this happens, all devices sounds (phone ranging, notifications) all come through the earpiece and *not* the main speaker.
I've had all of the stock ROMs up until EC05 loaded on this Epic and have had the same issue throughout. I am now running midNIGHT ROM, which has cured most problems I’ve had with my device, except this issue.
I was just poking around trying to find some sort of tool or the name of the service(s) that I need to restart to fix this issue.
Same issue for me. Quite annoying as I listen to audible over bluetooth quite a bit, and then pretty much know I have to reboot when I turn bluetooth off.
SRF users have reported Bluetooth issues being cleared vs. stock builds. I can't say exactly why, but it does seem to work.
What are SRF users?
Nope...
Syndicate Rom Frozen...
Well, I'm on SRF 1.1.1 and I've got the same incredebly annoying audio issue.
Please, someone, come up with a fix!
Hey guys I hope you can help?? Apologies in advance if I have missed a search result of a previous post.
Using the 5x on bluetooth in my car to the built in stereo is now driving me nuts.
I have a 2015 Vauxhall Corsa Sting with the standard BT 3.0 headunit that has bluetooth streaming and handsfree enabled.
Weirdly if I make a call the first attempt I will struggle to hear the person I have called. However if I hang up and call them straight back, I can hear them perfectly this time.
I have tried in safe mode and and the call quality was spot on first time, however google play services kept crashing and notifying me.
Can anyone point me in the direction of further troubleshooting ideas? or even a fix for this?
I have reset to factory and Im just using the google built in apps.
If you could help I would be super grateful. Alternatively send me to a custom rom that is more reliable?
Many thanks in advance.
Cheers
Andrew
Hey thanks for the suggestion, I tried that, no better, I even rolled back to 6.0.0 from factory image, no joy. This is driving me nuts
There are lots od reports about Bluetooth bugs. For example I'm struggling with Bluetooth initializing all the time when I'm trying to use Google now with my jabra storm headset. Google should really fix that..

Hi everyone!
I'm searching a method to "call" Google Now when press the hands-free button on my car or voice command on my bluetooth headset.
Searching on internet I've found that it's a strange thing on Android, that call the old Voice Dialer insted the new Google Now :\
I've found an app, Bluetooth launch but on my Nexus 5X seems to not work...another app, GNow, in it's description talk about a changing in Android 6 and that their app isn't necessary enymore, but I haven't found nothing about on internet.
Note that this app's functionality has been incorporated into Android 6.0 (Marshmallow); so don't install if you're on 6.0 or later.

Have you tried going in your Google now settings>voice>and enabling Bluetooth headset recording?
This works for my lg tone hbs810 Bluetooth headset giving me any ok Google option through the headset by tapping the call icon. Idk how it will work with the car though.
Let me know if it helps.

Nexus 5x stock unrooted here. I used to be able to both start Google Now by saying "ok google" or by long-pressing the BT button. (after the various necessary settings changes had been made of course).
I can't now. I've just followed the exact same path and discoveries the OP made.
I started on 6.0.1 and am on 7.0 OTA w/ Sep 2016 security updates. I *believe* it broke when my pricey but unreliable Philips BT headphones died. I switched back to an Anker Soundbuds Sport. I think that's when I lost that functionality. Can't start with "ok google" or with the BT headset button.
If I say "ok google" into phone's mic, I can then finish from my BT headset.
I know for certain I used to be able to launch with a button press as well as "ok google" so I think the problem is certain headsets. My BT button definitely works, it'll pause and start any music app I'm in. Answer calls, hang up. That's about it.
Would sure love a way to get this functionality back on my current Anker headphones.
And to reiterate yes my settings are correct, BT is enabled in both locations, ok google always listening is on etc etc etc.
I realize it's an old thread, but it's still an issue for some....
