Cheap Mini to Micro USB adapter - Captivate Accessories

So I had a TP2 before this, which used USB Mini. So, I have all these accessories from that still, and adapters would be great.
But, radioshack and all those places want as much for the damn adapter as they do for a new charger...
Is there a place to get like 5 adapters for cheap? China style maybe? lol
Regards
Smith

Get it from eBay
http://compare.ebay.com/like/290464...er+converter+2&geo_id=1&adgroup_id=2302816170
I have one, it barely fits the Captivate. I had to shave off a little off the back of the adapter so it can be inserted more into the phone. Without doing so, the plug would just come off. Now it fits perfectly.

I just bought a single one of those over the weekend for $2.50 shipped, glad to hear they work albeit with a little modification.

Good online reputable/cheap store for accessories?

So I went to my a local electronic store (that shall remain nameless) and wanted to get a few accessories. When I asked for a USB mini to micro adapter and they wanted $14 for it (should be around $5). I decided I need good place to get a all those little cell phone accessories online. Anyone know of any good ones? Looking for things like a hard case for it (body glove or other), the usb adapter mentioned above, retractable cable, 16 gig micro usb, things like that. I want to be able to get them all in one place. I could use some sound advice... going a simple google search gives me some sketchy places, and newegg does not carry it all.
Thanks
www.cellularfactory.com
Don't know if they are good, but going to give them a shot
I always use eBay for most of my accessories, they're usually the cheapest.
My friend works for www.wirelessemporium.com But they still have a very limited selection of accessories for the EVO.
For misc. cables and stuff, I always use www.monoprice.com
Seconded for Monoprice. If you don't mind waiting, you can find some stuff on dealextreme.com
Another vote for monoprice on any cables. I picked up two 3' micro usb cables, two 10' micro usb cables and two mini hdmi to hdmi cables for ~$20 after shipping. They got it to me faster than expected as well.
No offense, but if you are wanting the best price on all of the accessories, you need to be a little more realistic and not expect to get them all from one place.
I tried looking for the HDMI cable that works on our phone, but I couldn't find it on monoprice...
Can anyone post a link or point me in the right direction? Thanks!

Actually, I'm not sure that the one quoted above will work (is it Type D?) I know for sure this one will: http://www.amazon.com/Amzer-Micro-H...TF8&coliid=I2WK7R1BUCN60S&colid=2C6307WFQ3WEQ but it's not cheap... The EVO uses Type D, hdmi 1.4.

HDMI
The post about the HDMI from monoprice is wrong type. That is a MINI HDMI, the EVO's take type D MICRO Hdmi as of right now I don't see them on Monoprice
AVOID this company (Amzer) at all costs. The slimiest customer service of them all.

Mini USB to Micro USB Adapter

Does anyone know where I can buy a mini USB to Micro USB adapter for my car charger? I don't want to have to buy another car charger.
i bought a few of these:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002N8JJ04/ref=oss_product
they're pretty great
i chose them over a smaller rigid converter, because these are less likely to break your usb connectors
Check Monoprice.com
I went looking for low-cost adapters while waiting for my phone to ship, and there just didn't seem to be any that were cost-effective.
I wound up buying a brand new car charger for $6 on amazon and a handful of new USB to micro USB cables for less than $2 each on monoprice.
I can't see the economy in spending $5 to make my $4 mini-usb charger compatible with my phone, when a new charger is just $5 anyway. I really hope that monoprice starts selling some ridiculously cheap adapters in the near future.
Thank you very much!
Exactly what I was looking for. Now I need to come up with $25 worth of stuff to get the free shipping.
you can also get them at radio shack or bestbuy.. except at best by you have to buy it with a short cable as well cause that the only way they sell it, at radio shack you can by it by itself
I called Radio Shack, $12.95, ouch and no thank you. I can buy a whole charger for that price at WalMart.
Petronic's point is well taken. Gonna follow the same route too.
Thank you for all of the replies!

dealextreme.com is real popular in the GPS hacking world. I have never had any issues. Google them and I think you will find they are well used and received.

Dealextreme got some great price. But shipping take about a few week because of international shipping from china. And customer service is bad. I purchase many thing there. For the price you will pay for a item there is a you how you say, "you get what you pay". Ebay us buyer is the best choice for faster shipping and little pricer item for HTC Evo.

i've read over lots of threads today and some are outdated or just scattered with links here and there of accessories.
i would like some help to come up with the best accessories that i will buy for myself on christmas day or ones i might want down the line.
SO PLEASE HELP (with links to actual products...amazon preferred):
Case/cover/stand
Charging/Multimedia Dock
Adapters
Extra Cables
Keyboard Dock or Bluetooth Keyboard
Anything else i should look for...
i hand out THANKS to anyone who helps make this a complete and up to date list with all the latest and greatest for the SGT 10.1
You will probably get a lot of different opinions on this one. Most will likely be correct since there is no absolute right answer. I am a new user as well so I can share with you what I have or plan to get.
My Tab came with the Samsung pouch case which is fine but a bit inconvenient. Where do you put it when you pull the Tab out for use. I picked up one of the clip-style cases on eBay. It is very lightweight and functional.
I am going to gamble that Gorilla Glass is as tough as they say and not get a screen cover. I have, however applied a coat of Rain-X to help minimize the accumulation of fingerprints.
My device also came with the Samsung keyboard dock. This is a very nice device but not something you will probably take on the road. If you want a traveling keyboard, you might want to look into one of the integrated keyboard cases. Just remember, one of the great aspects to tablets is their light weight. Adding the mobile keyboard will double the weight.
I am still shopping for a do-it-all adapter cable. One day all tablets will come with USB, HDMI and card readers built in. I expect that I will need or want all of those connection options but right now, it does not appear that there is a plug-adaptor that offers all of those functions. The minimalist way to go is to get a USB cable or dongle which will allow you to plug in a variety of things. There is an interesting looking hub adapter on eBay that includes and SD reader and three USB ports. I have not yet heard reports from any actual users but for less $14 it might be worth giving it a try.
HDMI connectors remain elusive. The only ones that I have found so far require a 110V power connection in order to work. I am sure something will show up down the road.
One annoying thing about the Tab is the high amperage requirement for charging. Most car chargers put out far less than the 2A minimum that this device needs. USB ports on most computers are also underpowered for the Tab. If you travel, you will need a car charger. Just make sure that it will push enough current to charge your Tab.
If you are like me, the most important stuff that you will add to your new Tab will be Apps. There are many thousands of apps out there. Most seem to be games or less-than-useful apps that are not worth your time. There are, however a number of really useful apps out there that you will want to check out. Search this forum and others for opinions on that subject.
Hopefully you will find my observations helpful.
Bob
Hmm...there aren't a lot of them
Today I just bought the Samsung Galaxytab 10.1 USB adapter at Bestbuy for $19.99. At first I thought it was only for connecting a USB thumb drive but I found later it can be used for much more. In fact I tried using a Logitech Wireless Keyboard and Mouse Unifying adapter. It works flawless, in fact the response of the keyboard was spot on, if the unifying wireless adapter works I'm sure the mouse would too. The USB thumb drive works like a charm as well. I also bought the Dock for the Tab, Bestbuy doesn't sell the one with the HDMI output but does sell this one with the 3.5mm Lineout for audio and charging adapter at the back. The dock is connected to the 30pin adapter and can be charged and also have the USB dongle attached at the back for convenience. Bestbuy also has the Targus leather case stand for it, it's fairly thick material with a nice leather like microfiber interior to help in protecting the tab from scratches, it also doubles as a nice stand with three positions. All three products for just under 100 bucks. By the way the Dock was 34.99 and the case I believe was 39.99.
thanks for the replies. still looking for more help/links.
very good info though
i've also seen 2 different "OEM" USB connectors
EPL-1PL0BEGSTA & EPL-1PL0BEGXAR, what's the diff?
which is newer/better?

One drawback... you cannot charge the Tab when using the adapters.
Just got 'DigitalsOnDemand 15-Item Accessory Bundle for New Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 Wi-Fi / 3G 4G LTE 16GB 32GB'
Includes: DigitalsOnDemand Black TPU Skin Case, Crystal Clear Case, Premium DigitalsOnDemand Leather Case with Kick Stand, Screen Protector, Adjustable Reading Book Light, Earphones with mic, Earphone Splitter, AUX Cable, Wall Charger Adapter, Car Charger Adapter, USB Sync Cable, Retractable USB Data Cable, Fishbone, DigitalsOnDemand Drawstring Travel Pouch, Black Stylus Pen
Cables, earphones and adapters work fine. I honestly bought the bundle just for the extra cables and adapters, so was pleasantly surprised that the cases look all fine. Loved the leather case (not used the other two till now). The stylus is nothing great, but is a nice extra in the package. Have not tried the screen protector as I feel there is no need for it. All in all an excellent buy for just below $60.
The USB adapter came free with my tab. So check before you by one.
I forgot to mention that I also ordered 'New Trent iGeek IMP99D 9900mAh External Battery Pack Dual USB ports' I got it on cyber Monday for $40.95 now it's $61.95 (still down from list price of $ 129.95). The battery is compatible with Tablet PCs with 5V/2A input (Ipad 2, Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1, HTC flyer). This will take care of battery issues in my mobile devices. The product name includes the amazon link and here is their own website http://www.newtrent.com
It's still with a friend of mine in US, so will get it only next month. Will give a full review once I receive it in India. However I am already happy with recommending them, as the customer service is out of this world. There were some problems with the order by credit card. They immediately contacted me. The owner self spoke with me and immediately solved all issues.
thanks a bunch. i will check to see what all is included before i buy anything extra...also i have thought of buying one of those battery packs before, but never pulled the trigger due to price and not the greatest reviews on some of them....some say they work great at first, then dont hold a charge or explode or whatever.
I had similar concerns, as I read some very negative reviews on some external battery packs. I bought this model, because I read very good reviews about this company and got it for an very enticing US$ 40.95. The website also specially mentioned that it is compatible with Tablet PCs (iPad 2, SamSung Tab 10.1, and HTC flyer) and it weighs only 250g. The 11000 mAh would have been 285g.
It includes
IMP99D external battery pack (9900mAh)
USB cable for charging Cell phone device
One USB cable for charging Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1
MiniUSB adapter for Blackberry
MicroUSB adapter for Blackberry and HTC Androd, Moto Droid
AC Wall Outlet plug with voltage range 100V-240V suitable for worldwide travelers
English user manual
here is a short review I found for the battery pack I purchased

i've bought only 3 things so far.
the case/stand
the USB & SD Card adapters
which dock is the best dock (link on amazon please) and will it work with the case i have, or will i have to pop it out every time i need to charge it?

I just bought a cheap male / female USB extender cable for less than $2. Yeah, it's a bit kludgey but you can get whatever length you want, more or less and they're sold everywhere online for ridiculously cheap prices.
I'm really disappointed there aren't more 3rd party versions of the Tab's USB cable though. God forbid they use something like PDMI.

The Juiced systems cable.
I own one of the Juiced Systems extra long cables and can vouch that the cable charges at about the same speed as the stock cable. Make sure you buy from the Stoned Organics Seller. The other people that are selling cables, i have no idea what kind of crap they may be selling. Good luck.

Micro USB replacement cable

I was wondering if anyone knows of any good replacement micro USB cables. Mine has started to act funky and only charges correctly at a certain angle.
I know there are several cheap cables out there on Amazon and eBay but I was looking for something reliable such that if I flash through Odin or some type of future Bootloaders I do not wanna risk bricking my phone because of a bad cable.
Can anyone suggest or link me to official and not knockoff Samsung cables or some other alternative that works well. If not can on suggest a reliable Brand that I can search for.
Thanks.
Belkin make very good cables indeed. I have several; give them a shot. They're not overpriced, either.
I would stay away from the cheap ebay ones (as you said) - they don't seem to work correctly, never seem to charge/connect to my S3 properly.

I hate that Samsung Galaxy S cable. It comes off way too easy.
My favorite one is Logitech cable: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Original-Lo...556?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item336a98f674 . I have few because they come with the devices. Otherwise, you can't go wrong with HTC OEM cable. Only $1 on ebay and it works great.

This is the type of cables that I use. I bought 8 of them last year, and I have put them in my car, my wifes car, my daughters car (with cheap USB chargers of course). I put chargers on a couple of my motorcycles using them. I have a pair of bluetooth intercoms for my helmets that need micro-USB chargers for them both. I had to buy another bag of 8. I've given a couple of them away. So I have about a dozen charge connections, and only about $25.
There is no reason to pay more the $2 each for these cables. The USB works on them. They charge over USB. They charge at the high charge rate. They work correctly and they are reliable. And if one of them DOES ever fail, I won't feel bad.

Stay away from the 89c cables from Hong Kong, they are horrible quality and don't conform to USB wiring standards. I had a bad experience the other day when I tried to plug the emergency cable I keep in my bag into my S3, wouldn't go in, I thought I'd somehow bent the charging port on my S3 but really it was just the ****ty cable.
Both ports connect perfectly to cell phone and computer. - The length of the cable is the right size (90 cm), not too long and not too short. - I have been using it for some weeks and it works fine for both transferring data and recharging my phone.http://dx.com/p/usb-charging-data-cable-for-samsung-galaxy-ace-s5830-90cm-length-59092
Although monoprice are quality the cable's micro usb side(metal part) isn't as long as the Samsung cable and they don't tend to stay in as well. But it's not that bad but noticeable. I love monoprice besides shipping costs
