When i make a call the call is immediately interrupted (after a short *bleep). Getting called works though.
I have done a full-wipe and using:
- LeeDrOiD V2.3.4 BETA 4 R2
- Radio_12.28e.60.140f_26.04.02.17_M2_SF - HTC WWE 1.72.405.3 R2
After some simple tests i found that wifi was interrupting the call. When disabling wifi i can make calls again.
I think i have the corresponding logfile (using adb logcat).
I am aware that the rom i am using is still a beta, but since i haven't (yet) found any other user having the same issues i decided to create this question thread. Who can give me some advice to fix this problem? Thanks!
When wifi is on, but not connected to a wifi-network i can make phone calls. Only when connected to a wifi-network, the call immediately gets disconnected after a short bleep.
Found only a single user having simular issues, only he runs on another ROM:

E-mailed this person but we both came to the conclusion his problem was different and solved by a ROM update.
Attached is the logcat output. Three lines got my attention:

Full-wiping again and installing LeeDrOid again didn't fix the problem. Installing CoreDroid V4 didn't fix the problem either.
Anyone got some advice how to fix this problem on the Gingerbread beta releases?
Just letting you guys know my issue is resolved, maybe it will help anyone later on experiencing same issues.
I found out not only disabling wifi will make outgoing calls work again, also changing the network settings from 'gsm / wcdma automatic' to 'only gsm' and reverting back again temporarily fixed the problem (outgoing calls were allowed again while wifi was enabled).
I Just flashed a new radio: Radio_12.41.60.19_26.06.04.14_M_Test - HTC Ace Gingerbread S Generic 2.16.0.0
Now everything is working as it should be! I thought it wouldn't be the radio as the issue was solved on an older rom with the same radio.
Edit: The problem persists. At first it seemed to work, but later on the problem came back. It looks like the Gingerbread beta contains a bug, but strange enough not effecting much people... Comparing the dmesg log with a dmesg log of a successful call pointed out that the next few logs are missing on a interrupted call:

Isn't there anyone that can help me find out what is wrong or how to troubleshoot this furthermore? Can someone help me analyze the log files. The last thing i want to do is revert to stock and send the phone back for repair . Please advice!
I think it is a kernell/radio issue....
Yes it really looks like a kernell thing, now running excellent on LeeDroiD HD 2.2.2 with LeeDroiD's kernel 2.2.8 using radio 12.28e.60.140fU_26.04.02.17_M2. Still find it strange i am one of few experiencing it. That's the only thing that makes me uncertain about this being a kernell issue, as others should then have experienced simular problems wouldn't they?
I think i will just have to wait for a new (major) kernell release of GB.

I am using CM7 and get this issue as well.
Sometimes when I call people all I get is a beep and it disconnects.
Switching to 2g works for me but that is not a good solution imo.
Wish I could get this fixed.
I am glad to see I'm not on my own on this one! 2g isn't a fix for me either, its a not-so-pleasant workaround. Temporarily disabling wifi was a faster workaround, maybe this works for you too. I went back to 2.2.1 because of this problem, maybe you should too.

After that i gained root and ENG S-OFF again, did a full-wipe and installed LeeDroiD HD 2.2.2 with LeeDroiD's kernel 2.2.8 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=842802) followed by radio 12.28e.60.140fU_26.04.02.17_M2 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=877295)
So what do you think I should do?

That depends... I am no expert on this as I am on the same boat as you are. If this is disturbing you as much as it disturbed me you could give the ROM I am now using a go, that's LeeDroiD HD 2.2.2.

did you set up an voip-account with your cellphone?
I am imagining a scenario like this: voip-Account set up and the option "use internet calls" set to "for every call" (may be called differently, my rom is set to german).
Now, if you enable Wifi, your phone would try to connect to your voip provider and if that fails for whatever reason you should be getting error messages...
If you have your phone sync your settings through you google account, that would explain the error reappearing after full wipe, new radio software and even on a new rom. Flashing a 2.2 rom would make the issue disappear though, as 2.2 doesn't support voip...
Thanks for your reply! Unfortunately this was not the case. There weren't any SIP-accounts configured. I also tested this by not configuring any synchronization accounts after fully wiping and installing a Gingerbread ROM.

Yesterday-evening i installed CyanogenMod 7.0.0-DesireHD and I did not have any issues. After that i installed CoreDroid HD GB 2.3.3 V5.1 but with that rom the problem came back. How did it go for you, you didn't report back.
So does anyone know what the similarities and differences between those two roms are? Both are running on Android 2.3.3 (Gingerbread). CM is No-Sense while CoreDroid is Sense. Are both using the same kernel? Could a difference in drivers be causing our problem? How can i find the drivers that are being used?
Have u checked your apn settings? I had to manually enter proxy and port after cm7 stable install for my phone to work.

Yes, checked those too. At the moment happily using CM-7 without any problems, so as long i stick with this rom everything is fine. Not really a solution but at the moment very happy with this ROM.

With the new of the Defy+ came out i guess there is no official 2.3 update for the Defy ?
But as time goes on , has someone got an official or original defy+ stock rom that i can flash on my regular defy ?
I don't really like custom roms with others personalisations i'd like what a defy+ owner gets out of the box, but withut having a defy+ he he!

4.5.1-134walter from the link above, i installed this yesterday to my Defy (old) and am very impressed battery much better and feels a lot more stable no crashes yet as with my old sock 2.2.2 was crashing at least 3 times a day.

+1 from me too! i had ms2ginger on mine and it was too buggy + battery died quickly. just put the defy+ one on as above and it seems much better so far! just need to get on my wlan at home to fully sync my facebook contacts etc to see how well that works.
only thing I have found so far that isnt quite as good is the panorama mode, on ms2ginger the panorama has a display at the bottom so you know how far to turn, this one doesnt it just makes a ping noise and takes the picture. can make the panorama a bit blury as you dont know when to stop turning! hopefully the app can be ripped out of the newer wrong and ported back.

Yes take a nandroid backup of your current 2.2.1 and keep safe then install the 2.3.4 nandroid and fixed sbf, dont install full sbf or will have trouble going back.
You can always go back to your backup if you dont install full sbf

Try baseband switcher and choose your region/country in it. I had similar issue after flashing this rom but could fix it.
Now that boost mobile has their own branded Android devices would it be possible to snatch one of the voicemail apks from either the Samsung Prevail, or the Samsung Transform Ultra and install it on a epic touch that's been set to Boostmobile and have the ordinal voicemail notification pop up when a voice mail is left, I already know about gvoice and the voicemail notifier app, just wanna know is it just about the apk or is there something in the system framework that needs to be changed also!
I now know that it's a modified phone apk that's actually needed, I think a Boostmobile Samsung Transform Ultra would work, if someone can post the phone apk file I will give this a shot!
Update: Thanks to the dev & user gotanmp3 we now have a patched working phone apk for Boostmobile customers who have a Samsung Epic Touch.. I can comfirm this working on EL29 based roms. Again all thanks can go to gotanmp3, he also has a thread on hofo for more patched apks swing by and check out that thread...

I installed this using root explorer, then booted into recovery & wiped cache & dalvik cache, went to advanced fixed permissions, rebooted, and working native voicemail icon... There's a adb way just forgot the steps if anyone knows do post!
TROUBLE SHOOTING TIPS: If you get force closes after installing did you:
A. Wipe both caches & fix permissions

So for now I restored the original "phone apk"" that came with VeNom ROM, is there any devs who want to lend a hand in getting this "phone apk" for us Boostmobile users
you're looking for a phone.apk as sprint blocked notifications in their default phone app. boost uses old style notifications, same as cricket, metropcs, and other cdma carriers that don't have visual voicemail.

I've been looking for the stock boost apks for this exact purpose, i've flashed epic 4g (not touch) to boost. If you have the files, i can decompile to see what's going on, and maybe come up with a solution that will work on sprint roms (i'm the dev of SleeperROM for the Epic 4G)
That would be awesome, I have the Samsung prevail & Ultra phone apk along with the phone ask i'm using now from Venom's fast & lean rom, I installed the ultras phone apk & my phone started having a heart attack.. LoL.... The voicemail notification popped up and kept popping up and it wouldn't shut off, also my sd card kept saying scanning, had to install and reboot, let me know if you need me to send you the phone apk's. Thanks alot for rendering your help to us Boostmobile users we've waited a long time to get native vm notification working!

Havent found a solution yet, I guess the phone apks need to be patched, I can't locate the guy who did the phone apks for the Evo's, but im still looking!

I need the newest EVO3D phone.apk for boost mobile native voicemail notification. I downloaded and patched one a while back, and it totally screwed my phone up. As an update to the voicemail fix for HTC EVO 3D flashed to Boost... I am attaching a new link that gives you an updated phone.apk for the new 2.17 build. I am running a stock kernel with a custom ROM and when I used the above apk it really hosed my phone. So if anyone else has had problems the new link has the new apk.

Im running this on blazer ROM el29 v 4.1 it works! Push apk using root explorer, then reboot to recovery wipe both cache, go to advanced and fix permissions & restart.... This isn't going to work on ics roms its a different build, and it might not work on any thing else but el29 based roms. But make a nandroid and test away.

The above apk is strictly for the epic touch, read the op please, the link you provided is the same in the the OP, I don't want to confuse everyone, the apk attached to the OP is strictly for the SAMSUNG Galaxy s II epic touch (flashed to boost mobile) its not suppose to work for your Evo 3D, I already linked gotanmp3's Native post where all of these patched phone apk's come from.
This is posted in the Epic Touch Forums because is already discussed in the Evo 3D forums, these phones do not use the same phone apk so if you push this to anything other than the epic touch it won't work!

Thanks for responding but I'm still getting force close errors and I followed your instructions to a tee Three times. I guess I'm still doing something wrong. Think it may be the stock rom?
Its not all videos but some just do not play, when I try to play certain videos the screen messes up with green lines. This tends to happen on YouTube, my gallery videos , and in some weather applications. Do anyone know any cm 9 builds that will fix this problem? Thanks for anyone's time who looks at this.
You need to specify which rom you're on. Video playback it currently a touchy issue. I know jmztaylor has some builds with it working, but you lose like camera recording. So there are trade offs. I would recommend checking out on of his builds in the dev section.

I would flash jmztaylor's CM9 nightly 10 June build. Very smooth, and video playback is working. Though if you use a 3rd party app [video illusion most are using,] I believe the camcorder will work then.

Thanks for all your help, but your method didn't work. I found out that I had to turn off high quality on videos and it worked perfectly. (why didn't i think of that before?) Nonetheless thanks alot teh Roxxorz for your help! I hope JMZtaylor can recognize and fix this problem!

All taken care of now.
A lot of people, including myself, are using MX Player on ICS. It's a great video player in it's own right, but it also resolves a lot of video playback issues in ICS, and will play local and streaming video. Just be sure to Menu>Settings>Decoder>check "S/W decoder" in order to force built-in codecs, otherwise you'll have the same issues.

Installation was succesful but it didn't recognize my sim card and I tried to change some settings and now when I try to turn on my phone it gets stuck to the loading screen. I tried to start it in recovery mode but with out a result but it starts in download mode though. What do I do?
First I did How to Root Samsung Galaxy S on XXJW4 2.3.6 Firmware [Value Pack] from youtube and after that I followed How to install Ice Cream Sandwich 4.0.4 on Samsung Galaxy S [Official CyanogenMod 9] instructions from youtube.

What's the ROM you are using?As for bravo,all 4.x ROM can't record video well,there are some serious bugs.....
but now I use Redux rom.. Android 4.x JB/CM10 can do video but it is very bad ... breaking and crashing ... I do not know what to do and what rom is good for my desire
Try stock rooted official GB ROM by Neophyte (sry can't link it now, look in desire index) , i can guarantee that video recording is working perfectly on it, if it's still glitched for you it might be hardware issue or some really sucky SD which cannot handle video recording.

I have the 4.2V of CM 4.2.1 JB (Alpha-Preversion, not ready yet) for my Desire. Run smooth and faster then Sense BUT I have also two not Working features.
1. Video Recording
If I start the cam and start recording, after 1 Second of recordtime the cam freeze and display a message "Galerie was closed". I can not record and also can not play old video-files. Taking picture work without problems.
Workaround: I install MXPlayer to watch video (internet and SDcard)
Idea of error:
Maybe the error is because I not format my SDcard (only SD-EXT). maybe someone can tell me what folder I should remove or change that video is working.
2. Wifi-Hotspot tethering
Is still not working but VJ is already working on it.
It is PreVersion but works like charm. I like it and also the work of CM
I tried to delete a folder but it did not need to remove or 100media 100video not remember exactly what they were called ... My SD card is formatted on Fat32 ... hardly on ... I do not know now what could be the reason ...:crying:
None of the JB roms have working video. It's not your fault.
I do not use JB it can do video but very choppy ... and almost nothing is understood ... with either rum or I can watch not to do ... (This was after I changed my original Sense ....
Read the index and stickies, then install pretty much any gingerbread Rom and your problem will be fixed. Ics/jb are nice and shiny with some cool features, but if you want a 100% working phone gb is the way to go for now
