[REQ] App to Silence Phone During Video - Epic 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Maybe it exists, but I haven't found it yet.
I would love an app or script or something installable/flashable to kill all sounds and vibrations when video camera mode is active, then return to my settings after I stop either recording or the video mode.
Right now, it records every ding and buzz when I'm making a video unless I go in menus and turn all that stuff off. That's quite a process to go through every time.

Voice Recorder - how to keep recording in background??

I have started taking a few new courses and I want to record the lectures, but when I use Voice Recorder to make my recordings, I need to keep the screen turned on - as soon as the phone goes into standby or the screen goes off or if I launch another app, the recording stops.
Any idea on any registry tweak to keep it recording in the background?

Dude
Go here:
http://www.resco.net/pocketpc/audiorecorder/
And buy it...!
It works really well on TP2, i record incoming calls, meetings (hours!) and so on.
One caveat, of course you need a good size micro card, i use a 16gb sandisk and set my recordings as 1 channel WAV files at 44.1.
Using these settings, i can record hours of audio, i can then drag them off the card (to free up space etc), store them on a pc, use them, edit them, file them, etc, etc.
Hope it helps.
Cheers

[Q] Switch off auto mic gain in video?

The camera has automatic mic gain during video recording. This makes it completely useless in filming anything with music, since the volume keeps going all over the place ... totally unusable. I like filming live bands every once in a while, so that really sucks. The phone is sold with promise of great video ... and yes the video image quality is awesome... but sound quality often is not because of this.
I see nothing in the camera options and can't find anything on search. Am I missing something or is this function just completely missing?
Other solutions I see:
- Use a different app to record ... which would kinda suck, I like the sense cam, especially with the simultanious filming and pics
- Ask a dev to mod this in .. which means I need to start rooting..

How to silence call via watch?

Hello
Is there any way to silence a call using the watch? I am not talking about rejecting the call, just to turn off the ringer.
It can be done by pressing the vol/power button on the phone but I cant find how to do it on watch.
quick google couldnt give me the answer, hope you guys know any way to acheive this
You can look at the app "Ringtone Remote" in Google Play. I haven't tried it, but it seems to be able to do what you want. It is also free!
When you cover the watch with a open palm, the watch will turn black and the phone will become silent and the call will continue to ring silently
Nice, didn't know that. It actually did work... the first time. When I test it the second time the call on the watch gets muted but the phone keeps on ringing, even though it did work the first time I tested.
thanks it works. But i dont get a 100% success rate. But it still works
Wear Mini Launcher, https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.npi.wearminilauncher. It has a Widgets screen that controls multiple things on the phone, including allowing you to toggle speaker on, mute, or vibrate... from the watch.
I would also like to be able to touch one of the icons on the watch face that I am using to immediately mute the watches' speaker. That would solve your request and mine also. Thanks

Mute / DND not working properly

I'm having trouble with both the "mute" sound mode and DND even with no exceptions set. Based on both the manual and the description in the UI they should be muting my media sounds, but they're not. I even rebooted the phone into safe mode and set DND with mute and loaded up web pages and youtube and there it goes playing sounds when my phone shouldn't be making a peep. I did a search for mute and didn't turn up much on the forums. From the S9 user manual it says "Mute: Set your device to make no sounds.", so I take that to include media just like with every other device that has a mute feature.
Has anyone else experienced this, or can replicate by setting their mute & DND then trying to play a youtube video? Before I go through the headache of a factory reset I'd like to confirm if it's just my device. It's really important to me that I'm able to throw my device into silent mode and that it's actually silent and not going to start screaming at max volume if I'm reading the news and it decides to autoplay a video.
DND mutes notifications and ringtones, I'm guessing their wording of also muting media means something other than apps that play music or videos that you manually invoke
Use the media volume control to mute media like that
Well, I was able to solve this with Tasker. I set up a variable watcher on interrupt and whenever it changes away from all it mutes my media volume. The downside is it doesn't appear that Tasker can do anything with the Samsung sound profiles, so I can't actually use the mute option to mute my phone.

I never claim that I have the "right mind", but I would like to have the sound.Looking for the solution- not remarks.
No such support exists or is planned to be added in the future.

I just found 3 apps in google play store that allow playing video with sound on lock screen. Then there is another app with lock screen settings that allow to turn the sound on, but I did not run it as asking for permition to access my phone calls. Why would a app want to make a call?. Look like a video sound is turn off by manufacture or missing setting in wallpaper settings.

Hey there,
Lock screen video + sound is a feature no manufacturer provides.
Unlike video, It's a pretty useless feature to have sound playing on your lock screen everytime you open it.
Only Phone and Camera have the access to your microphone and speaker prior to unlocking your device, hence the not so wierd app permission.
Cheers !

For most people, the sound may be useless, but I would like to have it. Why, the manufacture, will let me have mp4 video but no sound?.
The app will let me play video with sound on lock screen, but the video play on home screen too - no option to play on lock screen only.
I admit, I am weird person, but I do not believe that I am the only one. There got to be some hidden setting to turn the sound on.
Why is everyone so paranoid these days? The reason Android asks for phone call permissions when installing video/audio apps is so that it knows when phone calls happen so it can lower or mute the sound volume & alert you of the incoming call. Not all permissions Android asks for are bad. Do research before making assumptions. [emoji848][emoji106]
