Had this same issue on 1.0.1 as well... Sometimes after a day or so... When I try to play an audio file, it starts failing to play it... Videos simply exit.
DoggCatcher says Error 17 when you try to play a podcast...
A reboot fixes it for a day or so... then it happens again.
ideas?
So no one else has this issue?
It's really annoying to have to reboot every time I want to watch a video/listen to a podcast/music
Did you disable the DRM service?
How can I tell and if so how would I disable it?

You would have to have used an app remover, Titanium Backup, Root Explorer/etc., or ADB to disable or remove the DRM service APKs. If you didn't do that, you probably got a bad flash. Try wiping data and reflashing.
This still happens to me in ACS 1.1.0
Even the ringer and alarms go back to their defaults...

You never answered my previous question. Also, have you cleared cache and dalvik-cache yet?
The only drm apks I have are
SisoDrmProvider.apk
DrmUA.apk
and I hear it's not safe to remove either...
I will try clearing dalvik and cache.
Yeah, clearing dalvik cache and normal cache didn't help anything.
As far as I know there is no DRM service apks installed other than the ones I listed above.

I have seached and find reference to this pattern in multiple posts, but never an answer to what it means. Ever since ec05 my phone randomly does the pattern sometimes with no apparent problems or sometimes it happens while loading an app and then it force closes.
Thanks!

try re-flashing and that should solve your problem
Thanks, I will. I was just thinking there must be a meaning to the pattern. I seem to remember my moment did that once in a while also.

Any update if re-flashing fixed it? I'm having that problem as well, so odin again back to DI18 then flash using the update.zip again?
I have been busy all weekend and haven't had time. Will post results tomorrow. I just think there must be a description of what that means since I have had it happen on another android device also.
I think ultimately it may be a bad flash though because randomly I lose my signal and it doesn't come back until a reset. This happens when I am in a low signal area.

Sorry it took so long to get back here.
I finally had time yesterday to go back to DI18. I couldn't remember the hard reset recommendations so I did that before and after running Odin. I was going to run the update.zip, but got sidetracked. When I got back to my phone it had d/l the OTA. I ran that then did another hard reset and cleared the cache. Then I ran 2.5.5 one click, and I may have even did one more hard reset at that time. (I know a little anal)
I also formatted my SD card (I think I read somewhere that this can be an issue also)
Since then I restored user apps and data through titanium and I have not had a single problem with the vibrate error.
The only thing I haven't tried on my phone is Sprint ID.
I'm thinking there are four possibilities, my flash to di18 may have been bad, the update.zip I used was slightly corrupted or didn't install properly, the SD card had issues now solved by the format, or it's Sprint ID.

sorry maybe "hard reset" isn't used anymore, from the WinMO days.
if this happens to you check and see if you have the whoisit app installed this is what caused it on my epic just uninstall it
The 1-3 vibrate thing means an app has force-closed. If you are getting a lot of this after flashing a new rom and restoring apps and data, it probably means that the data is corrupted or not in a format that the new rom can deal with.
The only time this has happened to me is after I have gone from a rom based on eclair to a rom based on froyo, and even then it was the phone data, not the app data.

This mean that there is some corrupt data and that you need to do a system restore from a previous backup or reflash to fix this problem. Usually this happens when your phone turns off randomly or when you forget to wipe the partition or dalvik cache when flashing a Rom or a system file such as stock browser or keyboard through clockwork mode.
Ok first off I did search for this topic before posting. I'm running EH17 hurricane ROM with EH17 modem. I never had this issue until flashing the EH17 modem. So I will go back to the EC05 modem and see if that resolves the issue. I may try the EG22 modem as well. It may be the Rom but like I said I never hd any problems with sound when I initially installed this rom not until I flashed the modem. So it probably has to be the modem any suggestions or help on this would be appreciated thx.

I returned your PM but see more info here. Sounds like the trip itself to Odin may have triggered some corruption in your ROM. Try a reflash of the ROM to see if that cures it. Also if it fixes it, find and flash the journal on zip. Even though Hurricane says journaling is enabled, wierd things have been happening (like losing 4G after a battery pull) to some people. So best to make sure full journaling is enabled.
This is what I did, I reflashed the rom after wiping data and wiping cache and dalvik cash several times. I then reinstalled the rom, and so far that seems to have worked. I'm going to be very careful with Odin in the future. What did you mean by journaling? Howe does that benefit me.
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
Journaling is where the phone writes and checks twice. If it finds corrupton it will try to use the 2nd write. It is not foolproof but prevents errors and FCs in the event of an improper shutdown such as a battery pull, phone drop, running the battery all the way down or freeze. Hurricane has journaling enabled by default but am thinking it only journals data as I had system corruption after a battery pull. Running the re-enable journaing script turns it on in all partitions.

Ok thx for the info bro.

I see that you've found the answer to your problem, but I thought I'd just contribute that one other thing I know of causes this... uninstalling the DRM services.
Just make sure those are all intact as well. Freezing them with an app like Titanium PRO doesn't seem to affect anything, but uninstalling them or installing a ROM without them (I don't know what Dev would do that lol) would cause such issues. Maybe you got a bad download with corrupted DRM services, but like I said, I see you have your answer.
I always freeze DRM services and never have a problem with any media playing. His was a bad flash as usually is the cause.

I dont know why but my xplay has started to lag very badly in the last few days its almost unbearable. When I press home it will just show the wallpaper and it will take about 10 seconds to show the apps. Facebook takes almost a minute to load. How can I fix this? I don't want to restore. I tried that set CPU a couple of days ago but I delete it same day. Do those settings stick even though I deleted the app? I don't know what else it can be. I already got rid of all the bloat ware and deleted unneeded system apps like Verizon sync or whatever that was

If you have deleted the bloat, then you are obviously rooted. If you have not already done so, you should install CWM custom recovery. In recovery, you want to clear cache and dalvik cache. That ought to help.

I am having a problem installing the Amazon Appstore (and the foxfi installer too now that I think about it). I am able to download the APK and run it but once in the program the install button does nothing. I mean I click on it and there is no error message, no program crash, nothing. It's almost like the install button image isn't a button and I'm clicking on nothing. Clicking cancel or show all for the permissions works fine.
I have enabled install from unknown sources and even tried to disable it and try but nothing works. Has anyone encountered anything like this before? TIA for any help.
EDIT: BTW I'm on stock and not rooted.
SOLVED: Thanks to Zerkai it appears that Screen Filter and Screen Adjuster can prevent APKs from installing.
Try to install these apps with an APK Installer. Like the following.

See if that changes anything.

Just tried that and it is exhibiting the same issue. Called amazon and they hadn't heard of it and had no suggestions on how to fix it. They did mention security apps might be able to block installs and that led me to look at my apps. I did have Norton mobile security installed but stopping it and then even uninstalling it didn't get rid of the issue.
This is really starting to frustrate me.
May sound obvious, but have you tried restarting your phone?
If you were rooted I'd recommend clearing your dalvik and /cache.
One thing you may try is cleaning up your SD card.. Even try renaming the android folder on your sd card. It holds app data for diff apps. you system will recreate it. just delete the recreated on and change the name back after you've tested it.
The only other option (that comes to mind) is a factory reset. I would try the other stuff first. Something is corrupt somewhere.
By any chance are you using, Screen Filter?

I am not, but I did have screen adjuster installed and figured whatever screen filter was doing might be done by screen adjuster. So I uninstalled and guess what it worked now. Thanks a lot Zerkai, you the man.
But wtf would screen filter do that could cause this?
Beats me. Lol. I was baffled when I figured out Screen Filter was the cause. But all is well as long as it's not active. Have a good day!

Old thread. Yes, I know. Came across this thread trying to fix the same issue. The app causing the issue for me was JuiceDefender. I think JD controlling the screen's brightness level was the issue. Anyway, I disabled JD and I was able to access the button.

Sorry to bump, but we can add Tapdeck to the list of apps that cause this problem. It's a live wallpaper.
I am rooted and uninstalled talkback and after every reboot, I see the talkback hand icon with the "talkback is enabled" in the notification bar. The temporary fix is to go into Accessability and turn off one or everything (varies time to time) that uses it and turn it back on, after this, talkback no longer shows in notification bar. At this point, it is gone until a reboot, in which it shows again.
I have even tried reinstalling talkback, disabling and freezing it then uninstalling, no change.
How can I get rid of this?

Using a File Explorer. Go in and make sure to delete the Folder that the app created. There may be something in there, that is causing the issue. Also if you are no longer going to use the App, there is no need for it to have a folder.

I think your not removing the app correctly. It's remaining either in the apps folder or the system folder. There is something which is reinitializing the app and creating all the folders you already fou d.

On the phone itself settings>apps, >all apps or go into your root explorer go to system apps and delete it right in there and reboot. Go back in and make sure it's gone. Right now your using a 3rd arty app to remove another app instead of going g to the root source.

It is not there as I have uninstalled it and can find no trace anywhere with any app or system app.
Reinstalled it so I could follow these steps. Followed EXACTLY as you suggestion. Force Stop, Cleared Data, Uninstall. At this point, it is again removed from the app list (as it was minutes ago). Rebooted and icon STILL shows after reboot. Confirmed Talkback app is not in App Manager. Used Root Explorer to ensure "talkback" is NOWHERE in my phone and verified it is removed from Accessibility screen.
I know how to uninstall an app, but it seems this sucker is embeded into the stock ROM somehow. Other ideas? Nobody else having this issue on Sprint S3?
After opening Accessibility and sitting on that page, the icon goes away after ~1-3minutes and/or clicking on any app that uses Accesibility, but will show again after next reboot.
UPDATE: I went and uninstalled EVERY app that used Accessibility (after MUCH hesitation and backing up the settings several times). Icon still remained. Rebooted and GONE!!!!! OMFG! A complete uninstall did it. Now to reinstall those I NEED and pray!
Hope it stays sorted. Try not to restore any data, or very little.
