[Q] Disable bluetooth on incoming call? - Desire General

Hi,
I've recently bought a Jabra Clipper bluetooth device and use it for listening to music because my headphone jack has stopped working.
My question is:
Is there a setting that can be set so that the default microphone for calls is the phones and not the clippers microphone? And if not is there an app that turns off bluetooth on incoming calls and turns it back on when the call ends.
Tnx!

You could use Automate IT from the Market, this will let you create a rule that disables bluetooth on incoming call, and then reenables it on end of call.
It's a great app and can do lots more.

How about Tasker? I dont use it myself but from what I've heard about this app, it can probably do this.

Tasker would probably do it but Automate IT is Free!!!

You can set the phone to use the bluetooth device just for media, not for phone. No app needed. Just go to bluetooth settings, hold on the bluetooth device and select options. It's that easy.

@trevfee
AutomateIt app clears the rules I set every couple of hours ... don't know why?
@Ik Desire
tnx man!! your solution works great.

The disappearing rules bug in AutomateIt was fixed in one of the recent updates.

SGH-i927R Rogers with Bluetooth Voice Dial not working

Hi,
I have the Rogers version Galaxy S Glide (Android 235), non-rooted as not allowed in order to use it for work email.
Using Motorola S10-HD stereo bluetooth headset.
When paired and connected, pressing the BT Call button does nothing.
Holding the BT Call button performs a redial of the last number.
I've read for other devices with Android 2.2 or higher that the Google Voice Dialer should start when holding the Call button but it doesnt. It will only start if I hold the search button on the phone itself.
Any confirmation from others or suggestions to make it work?
Thanks.

I am using a Nokia BT headset but working fine, can you check on Settings > Wireless and network > bluetooth settings > [Moto S10-HD] > tap and hold, and see if it's connected with "Phone" and "Media"

Yes, both "Phone" and "Media" are listed in the BT settings and both are ticked.
Have tried repairing with no change.

Do you have access to another Bluetooth headset you could try with the phone? Maybe there's something wrong with your current headset.

I just tried a Nokia BH-104 but it also doesn't start Voice Search/Dial.
It also acts slightly differently to the S10-HD.
Call button press - nothing
Call button long press - nothing
Call button double press - last number redial

Oh now this is becoming a real challenge. I also have Nokia BH-104 and I will, in all my best, try and replicate your issue and see.
EDIT: Positive! The call button on both my Nokia Headsets does not trigger Voice Search.....I can only redial my recent called contact via double press.

I gather we are stuck?
Is there an app that allows remapping the BT call key to start another app, even though this function should work standard to start Voice Search?

I have a Motorola T505 in the car and it works well just that it does not work if the phone is at the lock screen. Needs to be unlocked for the call button to work. I assume you already made sure the phone was not at the lock screen. Just wondering is their anyway to make it work with the lock screen still active?

Did a bit more testing.
I installed Vlingo, then something changed.
Instead of nothing happening when pressing the BT call button (Motorola S10-HD), now I get a choice:
Vlingo
Vlingo In-Car
but still no Voice Search option
I then found this App in the Play Google Store called Bluetooth Launch.
It allows you to assign any function to launch when the BT headset call button is pressed.
Now I get:
Bluetooth Launch
Vlingo
Vlingo In-Car
I set Bluetooth Launch to start Voice Search and it works!.
Vlingo is not a bad option either since it can be set to start listening on launching.
However, I realized all this only happens when the phone is in wake mode.
If its asleep, nothing happens, so you still have to touch and wake up the phone then press the BT button.
So still not totally hands free.
Asleep or locked the phone does not respond which is quite annoying when driving. My old phone (Windows Mobile 6.1) alloud voice dialing even though it was locked. I loved being paired with my Bluetooth as I still could do everything via Bluetooth. Sucks that Android which is so powerful does not work well with BT.

Did some more searching and it appears that the move from Froyo to Gingerbread changed the way BT call wake up works.
When the phone is secured with a pin or pattern to unlock, the BT call button wont wake it up..
I did have a pattern lock enabled, which I've since turned off.
Now pressing the BT call button while the phone is in standby wakes it up and runs Vlingo straight into listening mode waiting for a command.
So seems to work OK, just that I cant have a secured lock enabled.

Ya I have seen that it works as you mentioned but I like having the lock pattern and was hoping there was a way to get Bluetooth call button to work even though the phone is locked. Kind of sucks if there is no way around this. The whole point to the Bluetooth is that the phone can stay in my pocket locked so as not to press any buttons by accident and I can make calls from my Bluetooth device.

Built-in Bluetooth SMS to speech?

Does ICS have built-in SMS to speech functionality when you have a bluetooth device attached?
I've never paired my motorcycle helmet Bluetooth to my phone because I think talking would be a bad distraction. I wouldn't mind hearing an incoming text read while I'm riding, though.
TIA
I don't think so. But I know there are a few apps that do this. Check the play store
Sent from my SPH-L710...if some one helps you press the thanks button
handcent does this but you will have to push the button to make it speak it to you so it's not exactly hands free.
The app 'ReaditToMe' does exactly what you're describing. Whenever you get a text, it reads it immediately for you...
Just turn on car mode via s voice.

Controlling the phone mute button from Moto 360

I would love to control the ability to mute and unmute my phone from my watch. I couldn't find any app that would allow me to do it. Has anyone found one?
Simple. ..wear mini launcher

Sorry, I should have been more clear. I want to mute/unmute my phone during a phone call. I generally use a bluetooth headset to take my calls so it would be great if I can mute/unmute the call from my watch instead of getting my phone out.

Why not get a headset with that capability? I can mute/unmute calls with my Plantronics Voyager Pro.
Unfortunately, my BT headsets don't have the mute functionality.

Audio notifications while on phone call?

I mostly leave my phone on the desk and use a bluetooth headset. Because of this I dont feel the vibration that happens when I get a notification while on a phone call. Is there a way to change this setting? I had a setting in the phone app on older phone but dont see an option here.
Id also be open to a 3rd party app that would fix this and possibly repeat the audio multiple times. I will root if necessary.
Thanks!
I could benefit from strategies for this, too. I miss a lot of notifications while on Bluetooth, with or without media audio also enabled
This doesn't have great reviews but it's what I use and I even have the app read the text to me. The app will talk through your Bluetooth at the same time your on a call but I just say to whoever I'm talking to oh hold on a second until it's done. Hope this helps Pete

Bluetooth notification tones on Pie

When I was on Oreo and using my Bluetooth headset I would receive text notification tones through both headset and phone. Now on Pie when I have my headset connected text message notifications only play through the headset. Phone call ringtones play through both but not text notifications. Am I missing a setting somewhere or is this the new normal?

BUMP BUMP BUMP, this is literally making me miss calls from my boss. Seems like a very stupid change to make without giving the option to change... Anyone have any ideas?
Right?!? I have no trouble getting phone calls. It's the text messages that I don't know about. I use Bluetooth headphones mostly for talking so when I'm not on a call I don't have the earbuds in. So when I get a text and the notification only plays through the headset I won't hear it if there's any amount of noise around me.
I just got the update on my T-Mobile S9. Same problem. If you disable Media on your active Bluetooth device, notifications will work on the phone, but that defeats the purpose of using headphones or an external speaker. Is there a fix for this!?

I use mine mainly for talking at work. So this would work for me. And honestly if I'm using them for media then I'm going to have the earbuds in so I'll hear the notifications.

I signed and shared it in the Samsung forum on a thread I started there a couple of months ago. Hopefully, they will fix it soon. I am missing important messages when in my car, have my Bluetooth headset on, or have the jack plugged into my radio at home.
I figured out a fix!!!
Go to Settings>Sounds and Vibrations>Advanced Sound Settings>Seperate App Sound
Turn the switch to the "On" position
Click on "App" and choose your messenger app and any other app you want to be heard through the phone.
Backup to the previous screen and press "Audio Device"
Choose "Phone"
You should be all set. You will now play your message/ phone sounds through your phone without losing audio through your Bluetooth device!

Try this solution:
Settings > Connections > Bluetooth > click the settings on the Bluetooth device >turn it on for calls , default is off.
Let me know if that worked.
