[Q] another OTA question

If I have wifi enabled, will I get the popup for the download? Or do I have to be on 3g?

The ota will show even if u use 4g so dont worries. ... Ota will come one way or another no matter what u using

It will still work on WiFi, and I'm trying to say this in the most polite manner possible but please stop making threads about the OTA... this has to be at least your 4th

Im pretty sure this is my first about the ota. Maybe I made one back when we thought we'd get it in dec, but this is my first about his ota. Idk, thanks though

It doesnt matter WiFi, 3G or 4G its going to pop up regardless but if you want to download it faster turn on one as soon as it pops up and if it wont dont let it update turn on your WiFi then goto system settings update android and do it that way

Well this is the Q&A forum, so he's entitled to. And in the interest of sticking with OPs, he shouldn't be latching his questions on to other peoples threads. He's done nothing wrong.
EDIT: and some people DO want to get the OTA, not wait for the update.zip, just for the sake of saying "I got an OTA."

What the hell with this OTA thing we are here for the root and thanks all the devs for that making available for us. What u gonna do with your OTA, keep it for a day and then slap some rom anyway.

Dude if you didn't notice, I'm not rooted or anything. I will stay stock froyo once I get it. People should stop assuming everyone uses custom roms.

Usually the first thing the DEVs do is rip out all the Sprint and Samsung bloatware. I for one would like a week or two to play with any new widgets or apps added to see what I like or don't like THEN maybe slap on a custom ROM and add the features I liked also for the bugs to be worked out.
So the big question for us rooted phones is where can we find the update.zip asap tomorrow so we can flash it with CWM?

Get rid of EL29 update notification?

I am running unnamed rom with steady hawkins stock pulled el29 kernel. I went through and changed all the "el13" references in build.prop to "el29" but that didn't work...any advice?

There is an answer to this in the UnNamed thread, have you tried it?

I just wish I got the notification...I've been waiting for it on my stock Epic 4G Touch...wish I could just push the update instead of waiting for Sprint to push it. Used to work like that on my HTC device...but Samsung phones do it other ways.

Why are you in such a hurry? It's not like the update makes our phones able to print money or anything like that. It'll come, and when it does you will wonder why you made such a big deal about it.

Meh...Im just inpatient...I actually dont mind the static wallpaper...tons of people are *****ing about it.

Love Hate relationship. Return it?

I absolutely LOVE everything about this phone EXCEPT the LOS issues!!
I've only had it for 5 days now and experienced 3 LOS!
Since I'm still within 14 days, should I return it? thinking of getting the Photon instead.

From personal experience I'd say hang on to it and try flashing some of the newer releases to see if it doesn't improve the LOS issue.

I know you are asking because apparently you need the help of others to make up your mind... (sorry I am a smartass) But quick question what rom are you on cuz buddy LOS is a thing of the past up in herrrre... And that PHoton are you serious would you trade in your S clase Benz for a C Class Benz....
Root that sucka and flashing one of the stock EL29 roms or do the upgrage on your phone for the complete stock version... Oh yea and if you gonna ask where the roms are then maybe you should return your phone...LOL (smartass again)

exactly, flash something different (I'd recommend calks) and that issue goes away :O

Doesn't even need to flash roms, root, and all that. Just OTA to EL29 and it should get rid of the issue.
Hey playya like the benz analogy, I was thinkin the same thing about the photon swap.

Yea update your phone dawg LoS was fixed officially in december

What's the latest stock version?
I'm on EL29 version 2.3.6 running fully stock since there was no reason to go custom until now.
and thanks for all the help so far. looks like I'll either update to latest stock version or go custom.

I think almost everyone on this forum experienced frequent LOS until Sprint issued a firmware update that fixed it. I haven't experienced LOS since and it would happen to me several times a day. Update your firmware and you should see this go away. (my recommendation is to go with Calk's non-ICS firmware since it's probably the most stable at the moment)

Sounds like you need to get your phone replaced. The loss of service was fixed with ek02. el29 was the update after ek02 and it's the most recent update. You shouldn't be having any problems.
And you're flat out insane if you step down to a photon.

I'd definitely suggest Call's E4GT rom its one of the better ones out there, i havent had any issues with LoS but i did just get my phone in december. But for sure keep this phone !

Yea, I would try flashing Calk's EL29. It should solve the LOS issues while improving the phone in mutliple other areas as well.
If that doesn't work, just take ot back to Sprint and replace it with another one. I would highly recommend staying with this phone though, not the Photon.

I was initially going to flash to Calks ROM anyway but this phone was pretty awesome out of the box until the LOS issue.
I think it's safe to say Im keeping this phone since there seems to be a fix for LOS

Exactly my thought... OP, as you are on EL29 you should not be experiencing LOS. Are you sure what you are experiencing is actually LOS, and not just poor Sprint service?

I'm not an expert flasher but the devs here have made it so simple I've been able to play around with several of the ICS releases but I always return to sfhub's stock-rooted EL29 and get amazing performance out of it.

I believe so. It says something to the effect of no service and roaming charges will be applied. So i'm assuming thats LOS.

Ive tried fb21 and fb27 and i get a gray triangle saying loss of connectivity while at home if thats what your talking about

If your phone is up to date I wouldn't flash anything on it. Just take it to a store and get it replaced. The LOS issue has been fixed. Unless your counting the ghost LOS problem. I had that one until I switched to EL29.

Only time I ever get LoS is when clearing RAM in Task Manager, which I think is normal? Only for 2 seconds then pops right back up and runs perfectly

Flash back to fully stock for return?

Today, my et4g has all of the sudden took a dump! crashing, missed calls, bad reception... very strange as it was working very well before.
When i flashed to calks 2.9.2, I didn't do a back up of the stock version. How do I flash it back to stock since I might be returning it?

Have you tried wiping and flashing again? Maybe return to stock and see if that fixes it.

i just did a factory reset back to eg30. which is the best ota? i like this one seems really smooth.

im actually on the eko2 update right now and wondering if i should stay on it. was on el29 for the longest time and i like this one. what are your thoughts?

The ota actually fixed stuff..... The newest is el29 ....but anything after ek02 is supposed to be Los free ... Eg30 had Los read sfhub'a threads it will tell you what was fixed etc

when i got my e4gt i updated it right to el29 then rooted it right away. i wanted to restore it back to out of the box stock. im on ek02 right now and liking some features like the scrollable wallpapers ( i understand lots of roms brought it back) and just seems smoother. just wondering if el29 is really worth it like i said im enjoying ek02. and what is Los? thanks for the quick response!!

Loss of service ....early on the phone where signal bars are would have circle with line through it..... And only way to get signal back was reboot
