[Q] help droid incredible stuck in bootloop - Droid Incredible Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

i mad a big noob mistake i have droid incredible rooted for a few months now running cm7 rc2 from rom manager i needed more space so i erased the sd card from settings and now im on a bootloop and i cant accesses clockworkmod recovery and if i plug it into the computer and open the removable disk files it says please insert disk into removable disk f,h, or g please helppppppppppppp quick

Pull battery, put back in then volume down and power button at the same time?
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA App

already tried that
takes you to menu that says
fastboot
recovery
simlock
factory reset
recovery doesnt work and if i click factory reset it freezes and then i do a battery pull and i get the boot loop all over again

Try to get a fresh micro SD card and copy over a stock PB31IMG.zip file to its root directory (don't copy when inserted in phone...get an adapter and insert the SD directly into your computer.) Pull Battery, insert SD, Re-enter the bootloader and let it update.
You should be at stock once it is complete. The .zip file is located in the incredible list of ROM's. Do a search.
Hope this helps.

I agree with bri. I have had to jump back to stock because of an error I had made. This should put you back to stock 2.2 with the November ota. From there you can root again and be back in the game in no time.

Mangra-did this work?

[Q] HTC Desire Z Won't Boot After Rom Update

So I went to android.madaco and used their online kitchen to download a custom rom for my desire z. I have also done this for my nexus s and it worked great. However when I installed the rom on my desire z it froze for 2 days. I finally pulled the battery and now it won't boot. When I first turn it on I get the white HTC screen forever. So I pull the battery and turn it on again while holding the volume down button. I have tried both factory reset and recovery. When I hit either of these it takes me to a clockworkmod recovery v3.0.2.4 screen. I get several choices here. Apply update from sd card, wipe data/factory reset, wipe cache partition, install zip from sd card, backup and restore, mounts and storage, advanced and power off. So I tried to install zip from sd card and it does nothing at all it just shows me the clockworkmod symbol and freezes forever. I also pulled the sd card and formatted it and put only the rom on it and it does nothing any different.

Sounds to me like you have a bad download. Delete the rom zip you have now and redownload it, also be sure and check the md5 sums (google 'md5 checker' and you can get a utility to check).

If you can get to your engineering bootloader, try to Fastboot the latest CWM recovery then go into that image to flash a different ROM.
I deleted the file on the sd card and redownloaded it. Samething so I downloaded a rom from cyanogenmod and same thing. it is almost as if it can not detect the sd card. I have formatted the sd card now but no change. The sd card is empty now. Any other ideas very much appreciated.

Did you try a different card?
Are you using the power button or track pad to make your choices? Either way you have to make choices with the track pad.
I bought a new sd card and still the same thing. It is as if i need to delete what is in the actual phone. Because it does the same thing even if I have no sd card. It defaults to clockworkmod for some reason. Any ideas much much appreciated.

[Q] Droid Incredible no boot screen and cannot boot into recovery.

Hi guys. Another noob gone wrong ordeal. I am super newb to all things root, rom, mod and even posting in forums. So if this is posted in the wrong place, I apologize.
Quick: Rooted Incredible for about a month 1/2.
been running CM7 nightly since day one. No other mods.
Life WAS good.
Problem: I tried flashing a different rom (Uber Kingdom 3D Gingersense) I found
really detailed instructions for full wipe which included flashing VR
Superwipe/install. I followed instructions to the letter.
Booted rom let it run its course and my phone started to shut of
randomly. I tried multiple reboots, battery pulls with the same result,
only this time my phone shut off almost immediately after the reboots
and batt pulls . I even went as far as to repeat the steps. Second time
brings me here. I guess all the wiping wiped all my stuff eg: SD card
empty and i have no idea what else got wiped in the phones
storage.
FYI: I have my entire system backed up to computer and I also use dropbox and Titanium Backup. But that doesn't help when I cant get a Hboot screen or recovery. Power button + volume down button = I see a glimpse of the Hboot screen before the screen goes black again. It will not even boot normally.
Here's what I tried to do to correct this,... Placed a copy of CM7 and clockwork mod w/ gapps on my SD and tried to reboot with the same results mentioned above.
I searched and could not find anyone with the same problem. Can anyone help?
Please and thank you.

Make sure your SD card is formatted as FAT32. You'll probably need to hook that up via a card reader or USB adapter to verify. Copy the contents of the SD card (if anything is there) to your computer, then format the card as FAT32. Maybe the SD card is dead/dying/bad?
Putting the ROM's zip and things on the SD card root won't do anything. The time to put a zip file on the root of the SD card is when applying an update.zip file, or a radio/HBOOT/recovery zip that gets renamed so when booting to HBOOT, it sees the file and asks you to update the appropriate item.
Try a different SD card, formatted to FAT32, and see what happens.

Thank you. I'm going to google FAT32 and what that means and give it a try. I'll post back with results. I do have another SD but how do I proceed with that option?
Again, thank you. I never expected anyone to reply as I seem to be the only one in this boat based on my all night into today searches.
No problem!
FAT32 is a type of computer file system architecture. There are many more. If you are able to hook up your phone's micro SD card to your computer (via a USB adapter, or it may have a built in SD card reader already), it will appear as a lettered disk drive. You can then right click on it to select Format, then make sure FAT32 is selected under the File System drop down.
Most new computers have card readers now, but since these phones take micro SD cards, you'll need an SD card adapter to put it into an SD card slot. The adapters normally come with the micro SD cards when you buy them, as I have five or so that I never use, just need one.
Here is the SD adapter I am speaking of: SD card adapter with micro sd card.
Here is a USB micro SD card reader: USB micro SD card reader.
Is the other SD card new, or would it have files on it? You could try putting that in your phone to see what happens.

Fairly easy find to format my SD card to FAT32 but sadly didn't help matters as I can't get the phone to boot to any screen at all. It gets power, takes a charge but a screen... nope. I even considered re-rooting but again I have to be at some sort of starting point screen wise which is not working at the moment.
Any other thought?

No HBOOT. When pressing power+volume down HBOOT kinda just flickers but never loads. From a full off position, trying to power on, nothing happens either. I have no Idea what I've done. Can't even attach to computer via usb to view internal files.
U probably installed the incorrect rom for your device. I'm assuming your incredible is SLCD so basically is just a black screen because you installed a rom for amoled dincs. See if u can get into fastboot
(hold trackpad and power button)
And does the phone vibrate or anything when U turn it on? Does the computer recognize it as u are turning it on?
Get back to me with those answers so I can help u.

There would be a white bar on both sides of the screen. And even so, thats only in the recovery.

Supposedly I installed the version for my device as there were others posting in the forum with the same phone. Had I read further into the thread I would've saw that other's were having problems as well with random power offs and reboots. But no one had reported what I'm experiencing.

I'm starting to think this as well because my phone was heating up some. But it still takes a charge according to the green led indicator (full charge). I have no other way of confirming that though. I ordered an OEM replacement from the bidding site. $5. Meanwhile, I'm still hunting for a fix because the battery won't be here for a few days. I might just go buy one from a retailer to see if that helps.
Does anyone know if the phone works with the battery out, but plugged in to the charger? Might be a way to tell if its the battery or not.
Just to confirm, you try booting the phone up and it turns off? Is the screen just turning off or does everything power down?

[Q] HBoot Loop/Wiped SD Card G2

Here is my situation:
I was running Cyanogen 7 Nightly 161 (GB 2.3.5)
I downloaded and installed PyroMecha_Micro-2.3.5 which repartitioned by sd card.
I failed to double check my work and I wound up wiping my sd card.
I am not a fan of the Pyro so I thought I could reinstall Froyo 2.2 stock by adding PC10IMG to my sd card and rebooting.
Now, I am in a bootloop of sorts.
When I installed the zip from the sd card in clockwork recovery, the end message was 'operation aborted'.
I hit the camera button, volume down and power button at the same time and I get the HBOOT screen with the other usual options (fastboot and so on) but I am only able to access the HBOOT. The other options flash up for a moment and are inaccessible. In addition, the HBOOT screen prompts for an update. Vol up for yes, vol up for down.
When I attempt to reboot I am stuck with the HTC screen that will not load.
The phone is s-off as well.
My question is, how can I fix this? And yes, I have looked all over the net and this site and I have not seen a remedy.
Thank you for your help.

Hold vol down + power while the phone is off. Boot into clockwork and restore the nandroid I hope you made, or reflash the rom. You have to remove the pc10img from your sdcard to stop bootloader from detecting it

Resolved!
When I was in the bootloader loop I was unable to access clockwork.
I took the sd card out, attached it to an adapter and opened it on my pc.
Unfortunately I was unable to removed PC10img from the sd card. I bought a new one (only 4GB-lame).
I was able to load cyanogen and gapps with no problem by reflashing the rom onto the new sd card.
Thanks

[Q] How do I get access to the phone in recovery mode in Windows?

I screwed up a rom flash and my backup on the phone has an md5 error.
I can get into Clockwork recovery but how do I access the phone from Windows so I can upload an older backup that I have stored on my PC so I can flash that or try to replace the rom image that didn't work?
What's the method to mount the phone via usb if all I can get to is recovery mode?
make sure you are on the evo home screen hit the menu button, then hit settings. Scroll down to connect to pc and tap that, in the next menu click connection type and choose disk drive and click done.
Now hook your phone up to the computer and it will probably ask you again what connection you want on the phone, make sure to check disk drive and then done. Now go to my computer on your PC and find your phone and right click on it and choose open. You should now be able to view the files on your phones SD card. Just drag or copy and paste whatever files you want onto the phone and make sure you eject the phone before you take the usb cord out. Hope that helps.
@sa4000, he can't get into the ROM, only recovery so you're method will not work.
However, you can mount sd card in recovery. Its been a while since I've used clockwork but it should be under mounts. Also, I've had this happen before and sorta freaked, but you can just remove the sd card and put it into a reader on your computer. I went out and bought one and use it quite regularly for phone maintenance.
Searching on this I came up with all kinds of things saying that you would have to use adb, but that only applies to pushing stuff to the phone not the sd.

Ah, there is a menu in clockwork for mounts, I didn't see it. I found all the adb stuff too and was hoping there was an easier way. I must have overlooked the totally obvious mount/unmount option in recovery.
Thanks.
I got mine stuck in boot loop at work and wasn't able to use my phone for almost a day and a half. That was till I realized I could just take out the sd card....

[Q] Possibly bricked? Wildfire S Metro Marvelc

Ok so baisically my retard side came out last night and i accidently installed electricfire theme from rom manager, when my phone booted it was full of errors so i thought i would put my phone in recovery and reset/clear data etc. Didnt work ofcourse, so i booted into cw recovery to restore my nandroid backup, then notice i had version 5.0.2.8 and not .6 so whenever i try to restore my backup it will stop at certain points in the middle of the restore and reboot then enter boot loop, I can still get to hboot and recovery though. So then i was going to try and put the stock rom zip on my sd card to flash through recovery but my computer wont recognize my phone as a storage disk to put the zipped file on the sd card.. But my computer does recognize that my phone is plugged in when in hboot, but a prompt pops up asking to install driver software etc.... Posting a thread was the last thing i wanted to do but i couldn't seem to find the same problem on the fourms. Any help would be much appreciated thank you.

Take the sd card out of the phone. In a card reader, from your computer, copy the cwm 5.0.2.6 file ( www.redmondpie.com/how-to-install-f...overy-on-supported-android-devices-root-only/) the root of your sd card (it should be a PG76IMG.ZIP file). Put the card back in your phone. Take the battery out for about 5 seconds. Put the battery back. Hold the volume down button then press and release the power button. The phone will go on, let it do its thing, it's installing cwm. When it's done, take the battery out again, then take the sd card out. Put it in the pc's card reader and delete the PG76IMG.zip file. Make sure you do this, otherwise it won't work. Put the card back in the phone, also the battery. Now hold the volume down button and press and release the power button. It will look for the PG76IMG.zip file, but it won't find it. When it finishes doing its thing, press the volume down button to where it says recovery, then press the power button and you should now boot into recovery. From here, restore your backup, and you should be good to go. Let this be a lesson and make sure you research and understand what you are doing BEFORE doing it......
Thank you for the reply, ill have to get a card reader then.. haha thank you much appreciated.
I was finally able to get a card reader today.. Worked perfectly. thank you again, much appreciated.
