Problems installing themes - Desire HD Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Im having some problems installing themes
I flashed the android revolution rom, and tried to install the theme that was in the android revolution rom thread. Did everything as it said, but after flashing the theme and rebooting it was stuck at the htc screen. Had to restore the nanodroid backup and flash android revolution again to get it working.
Then i tried the kalagas mixed theme, that theme worked, but i didnt like it that much, so i tried to flash the Elegegant Blues theme, but same thing happend as with the first one, stuck at the htc boot screen
What am i doing wrong? When i got the kalagas theme working, i erase dalvik cache. So i tried to do that with the Elegant blues theme, but still no go

What version of ARHD do u use?
if you're using version 4, there is actually no theme working perfect as it run on gingerbread.
if you are using version 3.x (based on build 1.84), some of the theme are working while some are just working on build 1.72 (android revolution hd 2.x).

Im uting the latest version I think, found it in the thread 2 days ago
So I guess that's the problem then
But there are so many new words here, and different versions of sense, clockwork, and whatnot.
So what should I be looking for in the future when I'm looking for a compitable for the latest version of ARHD?

to be honest, gingerbread for sense rom (ARHD,Leedroid,CoreDroid) is currently in development. So it maybe take some times for theme to get work. All of them are in still in beta phase. No overclock kernel working yet, and much more still in development.
but I suggest you try ARHD 3.2 where elegent blue is working (based on build 1.84 Froyo).
But if you like gingerbread, try CM7 (cyanogenmod7). it's an AOSP rom and lots of theme too.

Ok, im tired of the kalagas theme now, and i really want to try a new one.
You said i could download ARHD 3.2 and try Elegant Blue theme
But where do i find the 3.2 version? It seems that i only can find the 3.3 version of ARHD

[Q] Best rom? Revolution 2.0.8 vs CM6 vs CM7

As title says..what do you think is the best ROM? and why? I have finally rooted the DHD and I want to try something new
Pls suggests me
thanks in advance for the answers
Can't really comment on Android revolution as I have never used it, don't like sense and hadn't realised there was a no sense option.
Cm 6 is great and the latest release is very stable, but...
Cm 7 brings gingerbread I have had no stability issues, and have been running it since the builds where unofficially compiled from source, current nightly builds are great.
But everyone has different needs / likes, I have been a CM fan since I first installed it on my HTC Magic and it suits me, give Android revolution a go and see what you think you've nothing to lose except your time
yea you can't compare those roms
sense vs. clean 2.2 vs. clean 2.3
depending on what u prefer
some like sense, some like a full stable 2.2, some like to play test person and use 2.3 nightly
I used PNK22 for my day to day rom. For a time had no real problems with it other then no camara yet, this was and still is the only reason i am not using it today..

good
just a question..there's update manager or something like this in the CM7?
I mean, if I install build 18 then build 19 is released how can I upgrade?
download it from thread and flash or use rom manager (the paid version) to get notified and download it on your mobile + update

by simply installing the zip, you dont need to wipe anything as long as only a small amount has changed. Using rom manager or rebooting into recovery and installing zip with that will work.
but, if there is a large change you will need to wipe data etc. Just make sure you dont wipe your sd card
can someone give me a link to the "stable" version of cm7? the development forum is a bit confusing cause there are too many links of CM7 and I can't understand the one you are talking about
h t t p ://mirror.teamdouche.net/?device=ace
There is not yet a stable ROM of CM7 for Desire HD.
I'm running Nightly Build #14 smoothly.
Greetz
i loved CM7, but i also liked the integration with sense so i went with revolution, but i prefer the gingerbread keyboard
I'm currently running Android Revolution 2.0.8 with a few customisations of my own and I love it. That said I can't use a ROM which doesn't have Sense UI.
If I could put up with not having the additions that Sense UI adds to a ROM, I'd probably be using a CM7 nightly.
It's Revolution 2.0.9 now (fast developer ), but I find this best for my needs personally. It's all about individuality, so try each one you like the look of and stick with the one that works best for you.

best Android 2.3 + Sense Rom

Hello guys,
I can't decide which Android 2.3 + Sense Rom I should flash on my DHD.
there are the following Roms to choose:
- LeeDroid HD 2.3.4 beta 3
- CoreDroid V4
- Android Revolution HD 4.0 beta 1
- VillainRom 2.0.1
- RCMix HD 4.2
Which Rom did you choose and why did you choose it ???
Thanks very much
VillainROM because Nathan, the maker of it, made also many very excellent ROMs for the HTC Hero and so I trust him that he'll also make good ROMs for Desire HD.
i had leedroid 2.2 and it worked fine. then i wiped my phone and installed leedroid 2.3, but only part of sense showed up on my phone! really weird. then i flased RCmix 2.3 and it works brilliant!
you mean RCMix HD 4.2, right ??
If you MUST use Sense (I dont know why...) The Beta ARHD 4.0 is your best bet. Its a good experience so far.
That said, I am a CM7 User, and I hate Sense, so take my opinion with a grain of salt.
I had the same question some time ago and it's often a thing of personal decision. So you probably will have to try for yourself. All the ROMs have good performance.
I'm using Revo HD because it looks like stock but with nice tweaks.

Only reason that I use sense is because I like some of the Sense apps(Dialer and messaging mainly)
I'd Choose either of Revolution or Leedroid , both are gr8 roms, the others listed Tbh i havent flashed those on my DHD so can't really give my opinion on those tilli try em out. i've used leedroid since v.1.5 and its been my personal fave one to use daily.

Actually I am concerned about the daily usability of the different builds and if it's worth to jump to gingerbread seen the source is a leaked build probably in very early stage. I would like to try it but I feel so confortable with AR3 ... Please someone tell me I would not regret it

You could always back up your rom before flashing ?
I would obviously do it, but I am so lazy that was wondering if this rom is worth it ... I promise I'll do my homeworks and let you know here if it is
Android Revolution HD 4.0 beta 1 without a doubt.
Beta 2 out tomorrow so maybe you should wait for that one to flash.

Any idea what time beta 2 is being released?? Im looking forward to going to Gingerbread but am completely reliant on my phone for work and dont have a spare so want it to be as stable and have everything working before i take the plunge!! Also does anyone know if the GB roms can be overclocked yet and which radio should be used??
Thanks in advance!!
Nevermind, just checked and Beta 2 is OUT NOW!!!!
I am using leedroid 2.3.4 beta 4 r2. The reason i'm running this is that i have used his leedroid vesion on my phone since i bought it, and that he is very quick with updates and fixes. Also lee's rom is always lightning fast!

stable rom?

can anyone tell me the most stable rom, wit hall components working with no bugs , glitches or problems etc. i currently have stock on my phone, and have been wanting to upgrade, but although every few days something is released, or a new feature (sense 3) i dont want to install if bugs - i.e. i read in sense 3 the weather doesnt update, so bit pointless installing.
whats the best rom for me? im guessing all roms are cleaned up and sped up.
Start with Seraphics Stock (but rooted) HTC gingerbread. Its the 2.3 update with root access, everything works.
Try Leedroid 3.02 very stable for me and have all u need battery holds nice too.

Depends on what ur looking for, I had the same question a month ago or so and decided to go for the a Revolution rom, by now I never want to go back again. I just flashed the Android Revolution HD 5.1.4, seems stable, fully functional and fast.
Yup, another vote for Android Revolution. Faster, better battery life, and probably more stable than stock My opinion is, don't go for Sense 3 mods, except maybe USB Connection thing. 3.0 Lock screen is pretty much useless like stock one, untill they fully implement features from sense 3 (lock screen apps selection,...).
Make a backup of your stock ROM, and then install ARHD 5.1.4 or LeeDroid 3.0.2, if you don't like it after testing, just restore to your previous state and you're back (with the slow one)
I would go for ARHD i have been using i for quiet a long time now and havent seen a lot of bugs its very fast and easy to use when you come from stock ROM because of no visual chances i would not recommed that you install any of the mods or themes in the first place Hope it helps

using ROM Manager or clockworkmod recovery (ROM Manager is a GUI for CWM-R).
Just hit the backup current ROM.
You should perform a (NAND) backup every time you flash a new ROM etc. just in case something goes wrong.
to try ARHD is a good dission.
It's fast, stable and simply that what you're looking for.
My tip on you: read the quides carefully, you'll have no problems with the flashing.
Try RCMIX if you want sense.
Try CM if you do not want sense.
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA Premium App
il add another vote for leedroids 3.0.3 it is very stable and everything works
thank you all, i will try revolution first, as it is downloaded now, then once i have done one i am sure i will be addicted and more happy to try others more often.
ok, thank you everyone, i have installed the rom, it seems faster, and no noticeable problems yet.
I followed the guides found on here. and today saw on another site that it mentions to factory reset and wipe data, and then wipe data again after install, which there was no mention of in guides here.
will this cause a problem? i dont want to reset /wipe data now as just set it up again how i like it.
Rcmix v6 is stable, the new kingdom port 0.2 has too much widgets problem for me.
+1 for leedroid but 3.0.3 with 3.0.4 kernel... Its smothhiie and works perfectly

[Q] Theme chooser for non cm7 roms

This might be a dumb question. Does theme chooser apk works only with cm7? Any options available to install it on other 2.3/2.2 rom?
It's there in possibly all 2.3 ROMs like Ginger Yoshi, Ruymanca etc. I don't think the theme chooser has been ported yet to 2.2, but, the themes themselves can be released for 2.2 ROMs if the theme creator so desires. (But they dont, since its a hassle )

I won't be the right one, since I am hooked onto CM7. Sorry about it. But, if you are not impressed with CM7, then, probably (note the probably ) you won't be with the other 2.3 AOSP ROM's, since they are quite similar. (Except xdbg's ROM and DevNull - They are bare 2.3 Android ROM's, but they are still a work in progress)

[Q] Vanilla Android

I'm looking to root/rom my OneX shortly. I normally try out loads of different roms and settle on the one I have installed when I get bored of faffing around anymore, but this time I would like to just go for the one/two that i'm after.
Would like the most stable rom that closely resembles the Nexus 4 / JB 4.2. Are the roms there yet? or are they still missing features or buggy?
Which rom would best match what im after?

I guess you could flash ARHD and then use ROM Cleaner to get rid of Sense.
Check the threads out
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1562603 (ARHD)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1589949 (ROM Cleaner)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2052610
This is what you want
ROM cleaner does not get rid of sense at all. Sense is not only launcher or lockscreen, it's the whole framework. To remove it you need to flash AOSP ROM.
Also, OP wanted Android 4.2.
The closest to absolutely stock Android you'll get is pabx's AOSP ROM. It is like it's pulled straight from n4 with no extra mods or tweaks.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2013506
If you want tweaks go for ICJ above.
