[Q] Transfering wallpapers between roms

I have run countless roms and like select wallpapers from each individual rom. My question is can I take a wallpaper from say Azrael rom and load them onto a sprint lovers rom? I've tried putting them on my sdcard, renamed them accordingly, then moved to system/customize/resource, via root explorer, but they don't show up in my wallpaper selection. Could this be because it will only display x amount? Note I've moved htc_wallpaper_x.jpg as well as htc_wallpaper_small_x.jpg to the folder. I know there are other ways to set the wallpaper but where's the fun and challenge in that?
Maybe things have changed but all I do is copy the jpg to my sd card into a folder called wallpaper. Then press menu-wallpaper-gallery. Select the wallpaper folder and then choose my wallpaper.
Does that not work for you ?

Agreed, but I'd like to have the option to go to menu>wallpaper>HTC wallpapers, and be able to see them previewed along the slider bar. See what I'm saying?
SOLVED
Played with zipped rom and swapped out some files, so far so good.

thx
That isnt a theme. Its a launcher. Download any of the ones with 480x800 resolution. Put it in your phone then use an app like astro to install it like any other application. Once it is installed press the home button and you should get a choice to switch over to it.

Wallpaper location

So, I'm using the rooted OTA and I'd love to be able to find the wallpapers in the phone memory and put them on my SD so that no matter what ROM I use I will be able to use the stock Incredible wallpapers. Any help would be appreciated!!

Thanks again for the info!! I ask because I love everything about CM7 save for the wallpaper and the sounds. So, I will copy all of the OTA's wallpaper and sounds and drop them in on CM7 and I'll be good to go!!
Thanks again!!
So, I found the default wallpapers in /system/customize/resource/ using a file explorer. But when I try to access the wallpapers by .... menu - wallpaper - HTC wallpapers , there are no wallpapers shown. If I press the "Set wallpaper" button I get "Warning No wallpaper" OK.
Where have all the wallpapers gone?

Wallpapers - Where Are They Stored?

Just a quick question, does anyone know where the default wallpapers are stored?
I ran a quick search and serched manually but couldn't find them. I'd just like to add a couple more to keep my SD Card folder a bit tidy.
Thanks
? you can put custom wallpapers anywhere on your phone, it'll become recognized in the gallery app.
I'm not sure about ICS but for previous versions of android they are in the launcher2.apk

Yep they're in there. Launcher2.apk\res\drawable-xhdpi\wallpaper_name.jpg
Hmm, that's a shame.
Although could I replace that APK with another one with a few more added? The reason being, is I want to have some wallpapers in the phone, that will show up when I go to change a wallpaper but which will not appear in my gallery.
you can make a wallpaper folder, put a .nomedia file in it and then use a filebrowser app to set your wallpaper. not the easiest thing to do but it'll work.
additionally you can download a custom gallery like quickpic that lets you hide folders.

Extracting wallpapers from icon packs..?

Hi, I have an icon pack called goolors, which includes a wallpaper that I particularly like...
So anyway, I wanna mess around with this wallpaper and try to create a few colour variations using picsart app, but I cannot find this icon packs (or any other icon pack for that matter) wallpaper files in my file manager (es explorer)...
-Anyone know where these files can be found?
(They're not just in with the regular android wallpapers by the way...)
Any help would be greatly appreciated, cheers..!

It should be located in the .apk itself. You need to open up the .apk file on your PC via winrar and find it somewhere in res/drawable folder.
EDIT: Or you can go to this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2210163 and ask the author for the original wallpapers
Extract the apk like a zip, then browse to /res/drawable-nodpi/. All the wallpapers are located there (they are named wall_1.jpg, wall_2.jpg, ...)

Sorted! Thanks a lot, I used chromium's method seeing as I'm not near a PC, and it worked just fine, already got the wallpaper open in picsart and ready to edit.
Cheers guys, yer help is much appreciated.
