Hey guys, if any of you are like me you have faced the same problem. I've been using RLS5 for what seems like forever now and I feel like it's time for a change. The problem is that no new roms seem to be quite as good. Sense 2.0 sucks battery and doesn't have 4g. I need a solid sense rom with the power control widget in the notification bar, the ability to customize the rosie buttons and working 4g (all like in RLS5).
any suggestions? I am thinking about switching to King's UNLeashed Ultra R3.

Why must it be a sense ROM?

Well nightly 28 is all going smooth. Also if you're hellbent on sense, go for king's ultra.
I switched to R3 2 days ago and absolutely love it. Came from myns rls5, then z and now kings r3. I can say this Rom is truly awesome with nets 131 kernel!!
Edit: Also TommyTomatoe is pumping out custom rosies and title bars at a good pace

You should try all the available ROMs at the moment. There are a ton of awesome Roms out there. King's roms are great, CM7 is really cool, VaelPak is a great nonsense ROM, Evervolv is a great AOSP rom, MikFroyo is a fabulous Sense Rom. You get the point! There's a ton of awesome ROMs out there, and now a days, 99% of them, except for the ports, are fully functional. AOSP has 4g, gps, and full hdmi mirroring now. Try them all, it's fun.
Honestly I'd stay in myns rls5, its if not 1 of the best sense roms out there. I was running cm7 for a good while but sh!t never seems to fully work and just to many work arounds/bugs for my taste. I nandroided back to myns this morning and couldn't be happier

Try MIUI, you'll love it!!!
I like MIUI a lot. I just miss the sense widgets. (Twitter feed, News feed, Calendar widget, etc.)
I'd give it a try, you might like it. Myn's RSL5 is by far my favorite Rom though.

same here, im stuck on rsl5 and im happy.. i could care less if there is change.. ive tried other roms but always come back to this.. updates are just fun but not really a must..
I have used myn's warm 2.2 since rls3-5. Probably one of the most stable roms ever. I have moved on to cm since nightly 19. I feel it was buggy at first but now on #28 just about perfect. Not finished yet though. I feel it will be soon. I am hard pressed to say anything bad it even as an unfinished product.
A lot of the mods most people want to do are native to cm. So little if any theming or modding really needs to be done.
My gf's evo is still on myn's because it is so stable. You know how those its not doing it right conversations go. I can deal with a little imperfection.
All that being said. You should always try a bunch of roms. My evo and likings/needs may not be the same as yours.
Always do a nandroid..

Try avalaunchs avafroyo z3, he's about to release z4, it'd based off of mikfroyo by aik and it's awesome, very fast and themed blue, probably the most underrated sense rom on the site
I'm in the same boat, been on myn's for a few months now. I did flash cm7 rc2 a few weeks ago, and have been using that since, but I do miss Sense.
Try Koni's Elite, I found it to be very similar to myn's.

^^Couldnt have said it better myself^^
I try all the ROMs w/ 4g working that comes out and after 2 or 3 hrs i ALWAYS find myself nandroiding back...
OP i guess your not the only one. We're stuck...
I consider myself lucky, myn's rls5 never worked for me, and tried numerous times. I flash a new ROM every other day, right now I like Salvage Mod 1.1 the best, everything worked perfect right of the box for me.
Koni elite II is a great sense ROM, and he has a new one coming out in a couple days hopefully
haha yeah, I think I am just going to reflash RLS5 with a few tweaks and tell myself it is new lol.
Koni's Elite Series II has replaced rls5 as my daily driver. It's very fast and stable with custom icons and a cool rosie.
VaelPak
I like VaelPak since his rom includes customized settings menu to download and flash kernals, theme up via packages of your choice, and its quick like all of them. What sets apart VaelPak from the others is his constant and immediate response to questions and issues and the ability to customize the rom's look and feel without having to go to XDA. Everything is nicely packaged into one rom.
It's as fast as Myn and it has the power control notification pulldown

So coming to Evo4G in couple days and am wondering which sense rom is performing the best right now? plan on rooting as soon as its in my hands

thanks in advance
I like regawmod 3 but it is only for beta testers right now. Wait til' its out but for now i would recommend virus.
I'm using Calkulin's EViO rom and I am absolutely in love with it. I'm on 24hrs of moderate usage and my battery isn't even halfway drained.
This probably isn't what you're looking for, but I would reccommend trying several for yourself and deciding which you like the most. Just as you can see from the responses so far, everyone has their own favorites and for different reasons, you might as well see which you like the most. I for one like Damage Control.
Stable sense, mm well I'm using evio rom rite now and I like it much, fast and reliable, fresh rom is good too, but imo evio is faster and sense work I just flash the hddesire dump file for the filp clock and it works really nice
HTC EVIO using swype
The best rom is always the one that is supposed to be released
fresh 3.2 works great

What kernel are you using? I've been on EViO since Day 1 and have never gotten this kind of battery life. Don't get me wrong, battery life is good, but not THIS good!
ive used CM6 nightlies for a few months now.
i have tried Baked Snack, Fresh, Calks, etc
Of those I think i liked Baked Snack the most. Fresh always seemed a touch laggy to me, not sure if I ever tried it with a different Kernel though.
Right now i'm ont he 9/20 nightly of Cyanogenmod, and i'm using the 7.6BFS kernel in Turbo mode....and hit a 2605 Quadrant score...
everything is just smooth.
but i'm looking into going back to a sense rom. But i use ADW Launcher, just love it.
I love fresh with man up theme currently 20hrs + on normal use.....
Do any one know what is the best Rom / kernel for heavy use of the phone (what Rom will allow the phone to be use without draining battery life fast )
So far fresh Rom is good just wondering if there is something better
cyanogen, ride til i die lol
Right now, I'm using fresh, It used to work great I just updated to the latest one. It is very laggy to me but I believe that is my fault haha. I backup system data along with apps in titanium backup then restored all. I'm actually searching for a different rom but Fresh has been great to me. Also, I really want to try cyanogen its just not all the things work yet. I know cyanogen has great stuff and hes been in the game a very long time. When i has my g1 a few years back, his rom was the only one I touched, So smooth and nice. Most likely my choice with be cyanogen when everything is fixed, and I havent even used it on the evo!
I guess alot of people just don't reply to Questions on this forum very often compared to Development posts. I would recommend trying out Myn's Warm Two Point Two. I used to use Fresh but wanted to try out Myn's when it came out because it looked like an awesome rom, needless to say I'll never look back. The numbers on Myn's rom post don't lie. Also, I feel it is important that a dev regularly contributes to posts on their rom, which Myn does. I tried Cyanogen one time, and just wasn't a fan, plus the broken 4g is a deal breaker for me.
the beauty with the evo is there are so many quality ROM's to try out, you should really try them all out. I only run sense based roms because it allows me to sync with my exchange email, so i would recommend trying these out as i have:
in no particular order
- Baked snacks
- Fresh
- Myn's
- Any calk ROM
- there are a couple of sense basic ROM's as well
there is also AOSP based ROM's that if work for you give them a shot. the beauty is, the one that does what you want is the best ROM for you

MIUI for me
The best one for me is the one I made to fit my use. Use the dsixda kitchen to start and slowly you will get deeper into customizing it past the kitchen. I don't use other roms anymore because if something isn't working you have to wait for them to fix it. I keep a stock rooted backup on hand when I am building my rom in case something is not working.
Hey all, im pretty new to the evo, just rooted it this morning. Ive done plenty of rom flashing on previous phones so I'm good to go...just wondering if I could get some suggestions on some good roms to flash. I like stock but would like a more efficient running set up. Thanks

I've tried about a half dozen in the past month, both AOSP and Sense ROM's and I've found myself always coming back to the Sense ROM. My two favorites so far have to be Evo Nonsense and Fresh Evo. I haven't really found anything that doesn't work on either ROM, many of the others cant say that.
Myn's Warm 2.2 is great.
MIUI is nice, its so lightweight that I clock my evo at 499 max and it runs normally and with the side effect of great battery life.

I really liked the overall layout and featires incorporated in MIUI when I tried it a month or so ago but NOW that I know about 4G being in my area, no way I can live without using a feature I've been paying for all this time, now that it's available in my area. I'm also not crazy about the camera not being 8MP......when they dial in that ROM where everything works as it should, then I'll give'em another go.
I failed to mention Myn RLS4 was also a very nice ROM.
Thanks for all the input, I'm still not sure what to choose. I downloaded myn's and netarchy...not sure which to use yet though
Try Calk's They're always awesome.
I was looking at the Evo rom subforum and there are so many options. I have no idea what to choose. When I had the Hero, I used cyanogenmod. I liked it, but I'm definitely open to any suggestions
The most important features to me are long battery life and speed.
I like MIUI so far. But really depends if you like sense or not.

I have no problem with sense. I'll definitely consider MIUI when choosing a rom.
Based on the number of replies and page views, it looks like Warm TwoPointTwo is the most popular rom. I read the first page and the screenshots look nice, but there's not much information about its features. Does anyone know why it's so popular?

I'm all about MIUI. Been running it since the beginning of november. There really is no comparison. All the sense ROMs are pretty much identical to me, except for the different themes, and CM is nice but it's pretty plain appearance wise. MIUI has the performance of CM but is gorgeous to look at, plus it has a TON of features that aren't available in any other ROM, and more features get added with every release.

For sense, the talk of the town is mikfroyo and Evio by calkulin

As for battery life, you'll have to experiment with some kernels.

No 4g is the dealbreaker for me on that ROM. Anxiously waiting though.
I'm currently running the Cyanogen 7 Gingerbread Rom. It's decent, but a little buggy.
I am currently running Myns Warm 2.2 and love it due to the battery life, i've gotten 23 hrs out of it so far without a charge with moderate use, texts, facebook and a few calls.
been using it for about a week.
MikFroyo is the fastest sense based rom that I have found. Plus the people in the thread are very helpfull, and slow to flame.

ok, here is a better question, good rom with 4G/WiMAX, working GPS, and 3g/4g hotspot. I have Cyanogen 7 RC1, but it is buggy. Don't like it too much.
Warm twopointtwo by myn all the way. very fast, looks great, and battery life like you wouldnt believe
everything works, download the wireless hotspot for root on market. some say the browser is slow, but myn uploaded a fix for that in his thread
Best way to choose is to try them all out. I would at least try mikfroyo, myn, miui, and evio. Before yo do though, might want to just try flashing one of the most recent cm7 nightlies over rc1. I think there are some changes that might make it a bit more stable.
I'm running the latest cm7 with wimax and have very few issues.

I've used Warm 2.2 and currently on Ava Froyo. It's also a good, stable ROM will everything working.
Using Netacrvy-Toastmod 4.3.1 cfs-havs-nosbc, I'm getting decent battery life with moderate usage. Now the trick is to define what's acceptable life for your usage. I have 3 constant sync emails with FB, 4Square, and a couple of calls and youtubes a day, and don't have to worry about a charge.

What is a great rom to use that not gonna cook your phone cause of a messed up or overclocked kernel? I was using the CM 7 rom for awhile I loved it tho I didn't like the camera app on there would like to find a rom that hdmi is working and stock camera app is working with themes. Right now im using the Sprints Lovers rom. Any ideas thank....
Well you're gona get a ton of answers. I here Myn's warm two point two is good. And if you want hdmi, you have to stick to sense-for the times being.

I like to use MikFroyo the most. Very responsive and everything works.
MIUI. HDMI doesn't work but it doesn't matter, MIUI is worth the trade off.

I like Fresh too, but Myn's looks so much better and I think it runs better.
I have seen this question so many times now, mostly in the Dev section. Thanks for posting where it belongs lol.
I have tried almost every rom out there. Some package specific (non-stock) kernels, which may not be the best out-of-the-box experience, depending on your hardware.
I too +1 for Myn's RLS5. It's stock-esque, but better, if that's what you're looking for.
If you want to be adventurous, try MIUI. It's fricken' awesome, but doesn't have 4G yet or HDMI. I've found the HDMI personally to be worthless anyway after buying an adapter on eBay.

Myns is very stable. I've been using it since I've rooted my phone, and no matter how many different ROMS I try, I always come back to Myns because it just plain works. Also, Myns ROM thread is incredibly active, and if you ask a question there, more than likely you'll have a solution/answer by the next hour. Ontop of that, myn reads most, if not every post in the thread and listens to what the community likes and doesn't like about his work, and keeps them updated on what he plans to work on etc.
I'm sure other people can make similar arguments for other ROMS, but I just thought I would share my thoughts.

I just tried the virus rom his latest one it says sensless but you have a option to turn sense on and the stock camera and hd works also pretty nice rom worth checking out.
I've tried Myns, Ava, Kings, Elite, Fresh, Azrael, and MikFroyo. Most of them have been pretty stable, but IMO MikFroyo is where it's at. If you need a bit more eye candy, Kings is based of MikFroyo and has a ton of themes.
Although my biased opinion says try CM7 again

Ya i love the cm 7 just wanting on the stable update the voice mail thing got annoying the text thing that came through with every voice mail you got and no HDMI yet.
Personally I have tried a ton. Sense based: MikFroyo and Myn's. But I would also have to say MikFroyo. After a few weeks of using both Mik is less laggy. Plus he has an optimized LauncherPro which did it for me since I use the car dock a lot and need a landscape launcher.
Currently testing gginggerbread-6 (CM7 RC1+4G). Its not bad. A few FC but overall stable enough to run daily.
Didn't want to start a new thread but wanted some opinions on which ROM to put on my wife's new EVO. She's not very tech savy so I don't want to keep changing things on her phone by flashing different things all the time. I just wanted to pick one great looking, speedy ROM that seems to have virtually no issues.
I'm not the type to flash every single ROM so my experience is limited to Baked Snack, Fresh, and CM7 RC1/nightlies. I'm figuring a nice Sense ROM will be best for her.

I ran Fresh before I made the jump to MIUI, it's a great ROM, very stable and bug free. That would be my recommendation. He doesn't update it as much as some of the other devs do theirs, but that will prevent you from having to update often.

Just like the title says, what is your favorite/most used/fastest/best on battery SENSE ROM. I'm currently running CyanogenMod 7 Nightly # (insert number here) and have been running CM for a long time. I almost forget how stock sense looks like
Now I know most people will say "you got to just try them out and see what you like", but honestly there are LOTS of choices and doing the nandroid and restoring of apps and all that is annoying. I want the most complete package based on your experiences. Just naming off a ROM name doesn't help. Providing reasons would be great.
I WANTED to go with :
Myn's Warm TwoPointTwo (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=793471)
OR
MikFroyo (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=883026)
OR maybe
MikZ (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=982211)
I believe MikFroyo is as stock as it gets with the original Sense while Warm TwoPointTwo and MikZ have the new Sense baked in. But MikZ has some features not working such as 4G and HDMI?
Somebody help me out! lol thanks in advance
I love mikfroyo v4.5 it just purly awesome. Personaly I love the speed probably the fastest sense rom I have used and I used alot including myns. And also the best battery I have used. So mik. All the way and also mikz. And its also very good

I'm using Myn's Warm Z right now and I absolutely love it. Speed, from what I can tell so far: good battery life, very fluid and very graphically gorgeous.

Maybe I'll move it to my SD and flash it during class tomorrow to check it out.
Mik's is about the only Sense ROM I haven't used.
For best all around, King's Ultra. Fast, decent battery life, visually amazing.
Koni's is right with it, but the battery life was terrible. Still, a visual masterpiece.
Vaelpak has the most options and is very very customizable. It''s prett yfast, battery is pretty good, with the right kernel, and I would have stayed wit hit, but I ran RUU on my phone and just wanted to try something new.
Myn's WarmZ is pretty perfect. Doesn't have th CM-like customizations of VaelPak, but it's gorgeous, stable, fast. Everthing works, and battery os ok.
11 hrs off the charger last night, with not a whole lot of use, other than a lot of texting, and I went to bed with it at 79%.
Maybe I'll give Mik's a try, just so I can say I tried everything on the menu.
I like mikfroyo 4.5 fast, great battery life everything works. But I think you need to try them all for yourself and decide. What someone else likes you may not. And besides it's fun to flash and try new stuff, just try to stop, you'll see once you start it' s like lays potato chips.
mikfroyo... hands down the fastest rom ive ever used.
I'm in the same boat except I've been on MIUI since last fall. I downloaded Koni Elite with Mikfroyo 4.5 to try. I've used Vaelpak way back and liked it. Vaelek had since added.lots of features. My favorite is no longer being updated - I hate it when that happens but with all the new phones and OS, it's not surprising.
Evo HW 003
MIUI 1.3.5 with stock kernel
Honeycomb theme
Calks Evio roms are hands down the best I have used....and I have tried them all. Lightly visually modded and very fast and extremely stable.

+1 on Calk's EViO. Have tried most sense roms, but no roms can complete with the stability of EViO, battery life with undervolt, and mature (light) theme. The best one for my taste and performance needs.

I actually didn't have much success with Caulk's. Not to take anything away from the man, he's a genius.
But on my phone, it just didn't play so well.

I'm using Myn's Warm Z right now and I absolutely love it. Speed, from what I can tell so far: good battery life, very fluid and very graphically gorgeous.

That is with the new Sense (2.0?) that isnt available to stock EVO yet, correct? Is everything working on that ROM like 4G and HDMI? Nothing buggy? What is the base RUU that was used for that ROM? I hope it always starts with a EVO RUU and gets other **** baked in.
BTW for all the posters, I flashed MikFroYo last night and it is FAST. I want to try other stuff out tho. Give me more info!!!! Loving the responses so far.
Another vote for Calk's EViO 1.8. Smooooth as can be, fast and super stable. This is pretty much the only sense ROM I run on the very, very rare occasion that I am not on MIUI.
Calk's EViO 1.8 vs MikFroYo vs WarmTwoPointTwo
BATTLE ROYAL COMPARISON....lol
These three seem to be the top three that people have recommended (damn i shoulda done a vote)....but can people give me some comparisons. I come from CM7 nightlies so I am used to ****ty battery life. I currently have MikFroYo flashed and see it is fast. EViO is better on battery maybe? WarmTwoPointTwo has newer Sense?
After flashing and dozen or so, I finally stuck with elite series II.
I just can't pick one over the other, tbh...
Now I'm on King's Ultra II and by Friday, I'll probably had changed again.....
Calk's EViO 1.8. I've never ran Myn's Rom but I tried MikFroyo. They are both pretty snappy but I got better battery out of Calk's.

If you add Koni's to that threesome, I think you have four excellent sense ROMs to try. You might also check out this thread. It is a few weeks old now, but probably still relevant (if you buy into poll results.) If nothing else, you can cruise the posts and get some more info/ideas. And this one is a little more recent, but I think by that point people were over polls like this so not nearly as many responses.
