i noticed, that i don't have the latest software on my defy. is it at all necessary to update? (i have the 2.34.1 version) if so, is it okay if i updated to a uk software, or would it cause any problems? (because i couldn't find any update for hungary)

maybe you can find a hungarian update at the motorola software support site.
This is the austrian Motorola Support Software Update site. I assume, there should be an hungarian site too.
If you have started you phone with blur, you can do an official upgrade with FOTA.
If you want to upgrade your phone to Froyo, you should first read a lot about flashing, backup (with Nandroid). You can start here. If you speak german, you find the information here.
The 3.4.2-155 (CEE) ROM has definitely NOT installed hungarian. Please ask in the Subthreads, if they could change the language to hungarian.
the language doesn't matter, it's perfectly fine for me in english. i was just worrying if there were any other differences between the 2 softwares?

Download the official update sw from Motorola
You can choose UK version, because HU there isn't in the list. But don't worry about that the update sw will install the right official fw to your phone (2.51.1 CEE).

Can anyone tell me what is the latest ROM available for uk o2 xda2s. I have recently swapped my xda2 for 2s but am disappointed by it being slow and freezing quite often.Wonder if it is hardware problem or software problem. XDA IIs ROM Update works only for UK???

I've come across the latest available ROM update for the XDAIIs on the UK site of O2.
ROM Version : 1.31.139
Radion Version: 1.06
It claims that it works only on the UK and Ireland version of the O2 XDAIIs
I have bought my XDAIIs from Malaysia and am am afraid that I might end up damaging my device if I install this ROM update.
Can anyone guide me on this and also let me know how to back up my present ROM. I've tried the romupdate.exe ROM backup software but seems that it can't detect the \\.\WCEUSBHS001 port which it needs to open to connect to the device on the cradle....

I have just tried to install this rom upgrade and my XDAiis stuck on a dark screen with USB and V2.06 written on it. It has now gone back to O2 to sort out.
Just thought I would warn people before they decided to go down the rom upgrade path.

Hi folks,
I was wondering if anyone has the _phone.bin file containing the i780XKHA3 phone ROM for the Samsung i780.
I was just like reflashing it to the original shipped version, since I now have i780XIHA7 as the phone version and I have no idea if that is ok to have alongside my original XKHA3 PDA part.

AFAIK, at the moment the only complte rom available on the net are the italian HA7 an the English HC4.
BTW the ha7 phone has saved from the trubles hundreds of users from england to singapore, so no I guess no problem in holland too.
At th moment Im using the HC4 phone with the HC1 (italian) PDA and all is smooth.
anywhere i can find the ha7 phone? haha or before you update your rom could u dump it so we can revert back once we make all the changes we all like to make?

Problem with upgrade with official updater(i780_PDXHLA2)
hi, I have made mistake too,
Upgraded my i780 with i780_PBVHK1 rom (all PDA and Phone).
Now I am trying to upgrade with official updater(i780_PDXHLA2), it always give error version....
Anyone can help me so I can update my i780 to offical updater?

You can use "BVHF1" as the SGH-i780 Version. It also has a link for the samsung drivers for windows vista. Down below there is a button "View In Detail" beside [ Upgrade Instructions ], if you try to look at the screenshots, it says SHG-i780 6.1 OS Updater on the title bar.
According to some forums and reputable websites it is the official 6.1 upgrade for the i780 but the problem is it is only for Italy, Nordic and UK. I'm wondering if it is compatible with the asian versions of the i780. Is there a difference with the physical keyboard?
I guess it's not that important anymore since Windows Mobile 6.5 will be released sometime Q3/Q4 of this year. There are phones already manufactured for WM6.5 and pictures are already out in the internet. I'm not sure if it's legit but looks like they are. At least there's an official WM6.1 update for i780.

It is possible to flash Orange Rom
You have to Hex edit official rom with the country/operator specific code of your current rom. That way, when you are flashing Orange rom it will think that you have the future version of you current rom and it will not complaint.
Search forum. You may use Hxd (use this as a keyword for search) editor or another hex editor.
I used Orange rom for a while. It has improved battery life over V5X HH5 (EFN Rom) however no messenger and other preloaded goodies of v5x hh5.
BTW there is a newer (official) version than the orange rom. Just peek at newer threads.

This is so lame
I bought mine unlocked off of expansys, and therefore the stupid update download tells me it's the wrong version. If I flash it with the Orange rom, will I have problems with sim locking or anything? I hope the installer doesn't have the same restrictions.

You may flash with the Orange rom or never HL1 or HL2 rom. Updater is available here on forum for these roms. Like I said before you will need to hex edit rom files to be able to flash. Or, as an alternative, you may flash one of the "modded" versions of those roms (bin files) with mirage updater (mirage does not check any code), then update with the original updater because updater will think that you are upgrading from the same operatoır/country code.
BTW you wont have any problems with sim or device lock. Mine was a generic unbranded WWE rom and updated/tried all these roms and did now have any lock problems.

My OS is in Danish so i tried the link and chose Nordic, then it wants me to put in the phone model, so i do that and then it takes me to the official samsung page (samsungmobile.com) where the only thing i can download is the manual and activesync for windows 2k/xp.

Ive bought a t-mobile g2 touch from germany last week and a havent found the correct file to update it with. Do any of you have the correct file so can update it?
If the T-Mobile UK file does not work then maybe you need to get in touch with T-Mobile DE and ask them if and when they will be releasing the update.
i updated my german g2 touch with the mcr2.3 successfully (!except for mms!). newest EU radio (63.18.55.06EU_6.35.06.18) works also.
i read somewhere that t-mobile is going to release the update (to which version?) on 1st of november, but neither do i know the source of that statement nor can i recall where i read it.
btw the mcr contains german language and the custom locale program, so switching it to german as main language is a matter of seconds.
I just bought an Asian Desire (Taiwan version), and would like to change it to a European firmware, so I'd have the right keyboards with rights spelling mistakes for French, Dutch, German and English.
I downloaded the official European ROM: RUU_Bravo_HTC_Europe_1.15.405.3_Radio_32.30.00.28U_4.05.00.11_release_121865
I tried to install it. It started well and went into the bootloader (I have version 0,8), but then I got "Error 130".
After looking around on forums, I thought it might not have worked, because I didn't make a Goldcard, so I made one, and tried again. But this time I got "Error 140".
Anybody has an idea of what the problem could be?

you don't need to root your phone to install RUUs, just the gold card.
It failed because you have a newer bootloader than the one in the rom you are trying to install. Try the WWE (World Wide English) version 1.21.405.2 - it has the languages you are after.
