Camera settings greyed out - Galaxy S I9000 Themes and Apps

I was taking some pics today and noticed that my camera setting that can change contrast, color and brightness is greyed out. Im on js5, any ideas?

Change the scene mode to none in order to mess with those settings. Once you select a specific scene mode the phone's settings are "optimised" for those conditions are you can't change the settings independently. Set the scene mode back to none and you'll have access to the settings again.

Thanks, it was the auto contrast setting on and thats why they were grayed out.

Low brightness fix for Samsung Focus S (Will work on any Samsung device)

Okay I put this together to fix the extremely low brightness on the Samsung Focus S. It simply increases the brightness level of the low setting and brings it closer to the brightness of the low setting on the Focus. It will not do anything if you have your phone on automatic!
Deploy the attached xap to your unlocked device
Open the app (name is File Deployer) and then exit
Go to diagnosis app (dial ##634# to install)
*#9908# for GPRS Manager
Select 'low brightness fix'
Hit Save then Close
Restart!
It has RunADC enabled so it will NOT mess up your signal, data, or MMS settings.
Also, make sure you go to Extra Settings and shut off 'auto display intensity'. Unfortunately the setting doesn't stick (even after the update!) so you will need to go back shut it off after every restart.
Thanks for making this available. Just got the Focus S and the screen is quite dim.
*#9908* doesn't do anything - I had to use *#9908#.
Screen is brighter in both auto and Medium modes.
Can I uninstall File Deployer once I've made the change in the Diagnosis app?
thanks again,
Michael

Yes thanks the correct code is *#9908#
The screen shouldn't be any brighter in medium or auto because it doesn't change the settings for those. If you shut off Auto Display Intensity it will help those settings though. Yes you can uninstall the app after using it.
I have noticed one bug, after you soft reset and turn off Auto Display Intensity again it will go back to the original (very dim) low setting. You'll need to go back to brightness and change it to anything then back to low.
Is this device specific, or will it work with all WP7 devices?
Thinking this should be moved to the Samsung focus forum.
Peace.
Edit The name change works for me. it stays here Thanks
It should work on any Samsung device. It simply edits HKCU\ControlPanel\Brightness\LowBrightness from 0 to 5.
Are we ever gonna get a Focus S forum?
do you also know how to change the auto dimming on the omnia7/focus when there are more than a certain amount of white pixels on the screen?
@clfosk: Pretty sure you don't even need to open the app once. The file that needs to be deployed is copied by the XAP installer itself, not by the app - I suspect the app is a total dummy. You probably do have to run the instructions before uninstalling the app though - it might take the deployed file away with it again otherwise (or it might not, haven't actually tried this yet).

[Q] Kindle Fire Screen Orientation

I have Gederom and Apex Launcher installed. I manage to find the screen orientation in the Apex settings, but when I change it to 'only landscape', it still goes to portrait when I turn it while in an app. I don't know if that is just how it works, but if not, I would appreciate some help to keep it locked to landscape only.
Have you tried, while it's in landscape mode, going into Settings -> Display -> Rotation -> Unchecking "Auto-Rotate screen" ?
You can add a button to the notification bar in order to turn it off and on comfortably, as well.
Are you going into Behavior Settings>Screen Orientation > Always landscape? I just tried it and it works fine.
Sent from a thingymajig that sends things.
I did both of those and they didn't fix it, but I did figure it out. I went to the apex settings and made it landscape only. Then I went into the display settings in the system settings and turned auto rotate screen on and only checked 90 degrees. Seems to be working. Thanks for the help guys.

[Q] Brightness levels not being saved (CM10)

I haven't been able to find this referenced anywhere, but I can't believe it's only happening to me.
For some reason on CM10-based roms, editing the backlight levels and hitting 'Save and Apply' doesn't actually do anything - if you hit 'Reload Current' or just back out and enter the settings again, the original stock brightness settings are still there.
The weird thing is, the changed settings are stored in the settings.db in /data/data/... it's as though the settings app itself isn't reading it back or just keeps using defaults.
Can anyone get their CM10-based rom to save custom brightness settings? If so, which rom?

[Q] can M8 camera settings be saved?...

everytime i open the m8 stock camera, i have to set HDR mode manually. i find the colour saturation in auto mode too extreme, so would rather use HDR or even manual. is there any way to get the stock camera app to save my last used config?
Set your settings and open the options menu and save it under any name.
It will then appear as a new "camera mode" in the camera/video menu.

Question on how to set up which settings appear in the "quick settings" area

Question on how to set up which settings appear in the "quick settings" area
I may not be referring to the "Quick Settings" area by the proper name, but it's the group of settings available when you pull down from the notification bar twice. On my HTC One M8, there were a number of options to select from, and I could choose which settings I wanted there, and in what order. The settings in there included things like WiFi, Bluetooth, Airplane Mode, Auto Rotate, Brightness, Sound Profile, DND, etc. In the current analogous area for the HTC 10 some, but not all, of the settings I'd like to be able to control appear, and I see no way to change the selection, or even to change the arrangement of the settings that do appear.
I'm sure there's a way to change the settings that appear, and the order they appear in. Can someone who has figured this out please share the secret?
Thanks!
Nope.....
