I have Myn's Warm TwoPointTwo installed on my Evo 4G, and it's great. My problem is that I can't get the hotspot to work with 4G. I've tried both the Sprint Hotspot and the Wi-Fi teather application that is included. I have full bars with 4G and a speed test with the phone shows that 4G works, but when I turn on the Sprint Hotspot, it just quickly goes from "Hotspot Active" to "3G Hotspot Active" and back and forth a few times before finally giving up with 4G and just staying on the "3G Hotspot Active" mode. Is there anyway to fix this? Is 4G Hotspot mode not supported with this rom?
Thanks
Sprint hot spot app wont work with 4g with the hack, use wireless tether app for 4G

^^He beat me to it. Just use wireless tether. It works. I use the rom & the app.
Thanks guys! Looks like it works. I thought I tried it before and it switched over to 3G just like the Sprint Hotspot.
Does anyone know why the Sprint Hotspot doesn't allow 4G?
It does allow 4G technically, the 4G just doesn't work with the hack.

Right, but I was wondering what the technical reason was. Just interested...

I'm running the warm rom with the hotspot hack. it "works" as far as turning on and connecting with my laptop, but my laptop is not finding an internet connection.
wifi tether still works fine though.
i would like to use the hotspot app simply for the home page toggle.
any ideas??
and before anyone mentions it, i did post in the development forum for warm, but 17 pages later, no response.
thanks.
I'm having the same problem on every ROM that has the unlocked Sprint Hotspot. My problem is it connects and my network shows I have an internet connection, but when I open a browser no pages load. I know that doesn't help, but maybe someone knows what's up.
You have to start the hotspot and then cut on 4g breifly and it will work then turn off
4G. 4g does not need to connect the act of searching does the trick. After I did that it now works without going through the process of the 4g trick.
Would somebody be kind to post the hacked hotspot .all file?
Thanks!

Same problem here. Computer connects wireless to EVO but there is no internet connection. I read countless threads about this, and tried so called remedies such as toggling Air Plane mode on/off, updating profile and PRL under system updates. Seriously, we shouldn't have to go through all these crazy steps just to get an app to work
well why isnt the 4g hack part of it working as soon as i turn on the hacked hotspot it kicks back to 3g if i was using 4g before turning on the hotspot app
It's a bug with the Evo 4G and the hotspot that's never been fixed. You need the wireless tether app (and root of course) for wireless 4G.

im looking for a way to tether my phone either wifi (preferable) or usb to my laptop but he difference is, I want it to do 4g. I dont think th wifi tether app doesnt do 4g. And I know some roms have sprints hotspot app but I dont want to pay and use that. Is it possible to crack the official sprint app to be free? or something similar?
Are you rooted? If so then you can use the Wireless Tether app it does allow you tether usin 4g as a internet source. Just make sure that you turn 4g on and let it connect before you start the wifi tether. their might be a few others but this one has yet to fail me. also I believe that sprints/htc's wireless hot spot and the usb tether are 3g only (least if your running custom roms).
Yeah, on the roms with wifi hotspot enabled you don't have to pay, the code is broke. Not sure about 4g though, haven't tried. As other poster said, wireless tether on market is solid.

On wireless tether i had an issue with cutoffs and disconnects. I fixed it by changing settings to channel 1. Not my tip, im just sharing it

I could never get the broken/fixed sprint hotspot to broadcast 4g, I'd start 4g before starting it and it kicks me out of 4g even when I try to restart it it wouldnt let me use 4g at all. But as soon as I turned off the sprint hotspot my 4g connects.

The verification for 4g hotspot is different and hasn't been cracked yet. So, the built in hotspot will NOT allow 4g tethering. It will go into a scan/connected/scan loop as long as the hotspot is active.
Wireless Tether and Easy Tether are both in the market and will allow 4g tethering without issues. I have both installed and use them most every day to tether 4g, works great.
Hey... I think this thing makes phone calls too!
pdanet it works great and supposedly fastest 4g connection from USB out there
The latest roms will allow 3G usb tether but will not allow 4G.
4G works until the usb is plugged and then 4G gets kicked off the Sprint network and will not reconnect.
Does anybody know of a good app or rom that will tether seamlessly with both 3G and 4G?
i believe the app wireless tether rc 1 or 2 allow 4g tethering...it worked for me in tethering 4g when i took a trip to delaware if you cant find this app i believe it comes with Calkulin's evio rom hope that helps
WiFi tether app from the market does

Thanks for the input, but i really wanted a usb/hardwired solution.
If you want to do the hard wire tether, pdanet tethers at 4g.
Easytether works with 4g and is faster than Pdanet.
+1 for easytether. I used to use it all the time and I never had an issue with it tethering 4G.
+1 for easytether.
Is it safe to use the hacked Sprint Hotspot? I have always been paranoid and just used wifi tether. However on MikG 2.2 Sprint Hotspot is in the quick settings on the notification bar, so I a thinking about using it instead of wifi tether. Thanks for your input!

No need to worry ... either is ok. The main difference between the two is that wifi tether has the ability to do 4G if you're in a 4G coverage area.
So I know Sprint has their tethering program built into the phone, but in settings, there is an option to USB Tether, and I was wondering if I will get charged the 29.99 a month like i would if i used the Sprint program to tether. I don't think i will, but i was just wondering before i do it!!
Thanks!!!
attached is a screenshot of what the menu looks like even though i dont have it plugged into my computer
The $30 charge is only for sprint hotspot tethering. I haven't gotten the USB tethering to work for me but since I'm rooted I just use wired tether.

I'm rooted so I just use Barnacle Wi-Fi tether. Works well enough. Either way though its just 3G.
Does anyone know if the Sprint hotspot use the 4G data connection or is it 3G only?

I Though the Wifi Tethering App, allowed the 4G/3G tethering without any problems? I've used it like 2 or 3 times, with my Epic 4G, and 4G/3G always have worked. ( I haven't rooted my ET4G phone yet, until there is a known way to go back to fully stock without problems..)
